  1. 'quit whining' I made a post that expressed what I felt in complaint, just one, and then responded to a series of questions and some snarky and obtuse complaints, about my complaint. I thank those who responded to me with respect.
  2. I don't get the venom here. None of these cards would be used in your deck building. They're extras in the vein of Lita Chantler. and i don't get the splitting hairs. Why would none of these cards be used in future deckbuilding, given the quote? How much XP do you have to spend to put those in your deck? What's that, they don't have an XP bar? Perhaps because they're rewards for completing the scenario and not regular player cards? How dare they only include the exact correct amount of usable cards in that scenario they designed! Now you are being snarky for the fun of it. Surely you have the wit to see that. If you wont accept my complaint, it doesn't matter, its not for you.
  3. I don't get the venom here. None of these cards would be used in your deck building. They're extras in the vein of Lita Chantler. and i don't get the splitting hairs. Why would none of these cards be used in future deckbuilding, given the quote? Because they're not available for deck building. You only get them by fulfilling or earning them from certain scenarios. You don't need multiple copies because you can't get multiple copies. Not trying to be snarky, but have you played yet? There's a card in scenario 1 of the game that's exactly the same way, and the intro box set only has one of them because only one person in the group can earn it. Yes I have played the core campaign 3 times so its not my lack of experience at the game. I just don't see why they did not put 2 copies in, when it would hardly have hurt them to do that and the clear intention is to include them as pat of campaign play. The same issue with Lita. I think its wholly pedantic to call them 'extras' when there is no reference to any card type known as 'extras'. OF COURSE people are going to want to deck build with them in future, like adding a second copy to a deck they move with from campaign to campaign. Whats the problem with that? Saying you cant get multiple copies because you don't need them' is just false in that case. It stands to reason especially if they are helpful cards that you will want to add 2. So why not add a full playset, even if in group play only one player can win them?

  5. "Story assets" is just a weasel word, a copout phrase when it states - "If you are playing in Campaign Mode, you may even be able to make use of the adventure's four new Mask assets in your future adventures. Any one of these items may serve you as an invaluable and material reminder of all that you endured and learned in Venice."
  6. WTF are you talking about? There is no deck building content in any of the POD expansions. Then wtf are the 4 mask assets and an ally doing in it then? "If you are playing in Campaign Mode, you may even be able to make use of the adventure's four new Mask assets in your future adventures. Any one of these items may serve you as an invaluable and material reminder of all that you endured and learned in Venice."
  7. Also its completely disgusting that they see fit to put single copies of player cards in these packs. SHAME ON YOU guys!
  8. where can i find this priceless treasure? http://eric.minet.free.fr/cocbuilder/dbdownl_en.htm still has 2.07 version up.
  9. Hopefully you all already know the mind-blastingly good deckbuilding and collection management software from Nyarlazobec (aka Eric): http://eric.minet.free.fr/cocbuilder/dbdownl_en.htm Well a little Byakhee told me today that it should get an update this week that completes it, given the end of the line for this LCG. For me, thats the definitive end of the line. I have been here since its birth as a CCG. The deckbuilder has always been an amazing tool. So this post is not just about letting you know, its about saying a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone involved in its creation and continued development, through all the mutations and unholy spawnings over the eons. Thanks guys!!
  10. ...thought you might like to know...you can view this excellent adaptation of The Colour Out of Space free on YT until tomorrow... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RhwyPrUWx8#t=129
  11. The Laboratory did revive my interest, but then I saw you need Forbidden Alchemy...not cool of FFG to link this new POD to their most catastrophic release for this line. Trying to recoup lost sales, perhaps? Still, the idea is awesome just hope they give us more but without the catch.
  12. Hi Avi! I am away Arkham and have been a while, had hoped to tackle it this weekend but the Byakhee of chaos flew off with my directors diary while I was fleeing from something unnameable with innumerable eyes rolling in every direction. Turns out it was the ghost of Marty Feldman. He wanted to turn me into a pet beetle called Monica. So I guess its ok. Anyway, madness permitting, I am coming back, soon. ish.
  13. Slightly belated but no less warm welcomes, Craftseeker :-) Hope to share in your fun reading your accounts. Lovely choice of Elder Futhark for your avatar. Tox and Professor, I am genuinely continually impressed by the sheer variety and scope of talent and imagination that emerges through our commune of madness. Crafts, play components, house rules, stories, clarifications...all a sign of a very healthy, very alive game. Long may it be so.
  14. Wow, I remember that day, going to my store after watching it like a hawk for months - - Must-have-more-Arkham !! - And the pure joy and anticipation of bringing it home... have insolent amounts of fun!
  15. It was Glaaki...and thanks for the memory jolt guys! Now it is all so horribly clear...4 monsters into the dimensional shredder it was.
  16. 1. Only 1 Mythos card per turn. The First Player just reads it. Other than this each phase is fully completed for each investigator before next phase begins. So, upkeep for all, then move for all, then encounter phase for all, then encounters in otherworlds for anyone there. As for locations, you must have an encounter in the Arkham Encounters phase if at a location if there is no gate there. Here is what happens, in order, on each investigators turn during Arkham Encounters - On a gate marker? Go through it unless you have the explored token. On a location with text in its box? Use that text and then end your AE phase if you do No text in the box or did not use it? Then you must draw and resolve a card for that location, drawn from the appropriately coloured deck.. Then end your AE phase. 2. The symbols show which items are likely to appear via the cards for encounters at that location. So, the book and the dollars means cash and spell items are more likely to appear. A white symbol is talking about odds from the cards. A black symbol gives you a definite way to get that item, and its in the locations text box. So basically, only pull a card if you did not use the text, as per 1 above.
  17. I was figuring that Tox, but it is remembered to be a game lost in setup, and I could not figure out how a gate and surge could happen together. Maybe it was a turn 1 loss after all. Like I said, The Horror, The Horror...
  18. Greetings. :-) Your padded cell awaits. Wifi is an optional extra :-) All rooms have a breathtaking view of the charnel house and the mausoleum :-) Once I lost the game before it began. No, seriously. It all went belly up with the setup. Dagon and Mother Hydra did something disgusting together with the Mythos draw, and that was it. The specifics are a merciful blur, but others have had the same thing happen, although I think the FAQ now prevents this supreme demonstration of the futility of existence.
  19. Yes, that kind of thing occurred to me too. It should cut both ways- if you are going to do it, whatever it is, it should be impartial and not selective.
  20. Julia your friend Cat is too much! That's just hilarious. I think next time she arrives, you should wave your arms in the air and chant, telling her its The Voorish Sign to ward off obvious rulebending. Dice. They can be cruel, or they can be kind. But they are so much more than random number generators. What are they really? We need to understand this when we pick them up and throw them at the padded walls. They are tension generators. Tension. When you pick them up, they burn with that tension. Its what good GMs know - when you hand them out, you are saying that you don't know what will happen next. So we need to treat dice with respect or the tension will leech away from our gaming. That means no free total reroll, just the one you forgot, and about the only time you should force one is when you realise you had less dice than you rolled. As for other bends not involving dice, I am a reasonable guy and will let some things go for some people and situations. Julia pretty much outlined the boundary of what is acceptable there.
  21. ...and a Happy Birthday for me (it was!). Halloween is the perfect holiday to be born under a bad sign! Happy Birthday Joe!
  22. There is no controversy, and we see no need for one here.
  23. Fair point Ceridan13 :-) ( and that's a lovely number!). Last I checked, nobody is here to strong arm anyone (well there have been a few who needed some severe limb spindling and even severance on some really important things they insisted on continuing on doing and one of them had to be helped to stop breathing, but we don't evoke his name round these parts). But my point wasn't prompted by the surge thing, which is a point I agree with Julia on simply because it is more sensible to my addled old brain, and much more by the hair splitting over the black man, where you seemed to be sensing that was kind of ridiculous yourself, a holdover from your ccg interest, did I misunderstand? If I did understand you, you were wondering if you seemed to be going too far in that direction, and I have to say yes. As a long time card player (my collection does not include MtG, but it covers VtES, Rage, deciphers Star Trek and LotR, ffgs CoC ccg and lcg, Mythos and a few others) I know how haggling over tiny snips of printed text becomes part of the gaming culture and kind of spreads to other games where it becomes an impediment to the player, and I perceive that here. AH will never receive a card by card clarifications and errata file, and it really doesn't need it, as I'm sure you agree, but it appears you are making complications that do not exist for anyone else. So, like I said, I am all for you doing your own creative thing, I just think it needs a different approach in AH than you might be used to and that not perceiving this now might frustrate you throughout your time playing and time posting here, because your haggling over what most see as an obvious instruction is probably puzzling to many people here. No offense intended at all and apologies if any is taken, just that I felt the need to point this out for you. Edit: One more thing comes to mind about the surge and other issues the community might seem to have an unwarranted and mysterious consensus on - I was here when Kevin made posts (AH designer) and he stated his method of surges way back, but like many of those early posts, nobody preserved its wisdom for descendants - they were wiped from existence like 1960s Doctor Who. But some of us remember the original transmissions :-)
  24. AO is Ancient One. Check out the Arkham Horror Wiki elsewhere for the figures you might need. Welcome to he asylum, or the carnival take your pick :-) Best advice to a novice I have: clues and time must never be wasted. Ceridan13, you need to define, for yourself, what the 'right' way means in this, is it some strict linguistic definition of weasely words (to which you will never receive a full complement of satisfactory clarification) , or how most of us play? I would recommend common sense here, and do it the way most of the people I know do, and I think most people here too - which is to say, Julia is right :-)
