If you think about it the Thief is more a worry then she is. Taking any object they see fit if they land on you or in village, market, or market day can steal anything from purchase deck. Which if lucky, can get all the mules and water bottles making it really difficult for any character to get strong or crafty object wise or to stay alive in middle region. Because it just seems if your in the Oasis your going to roll a 1, if you don't have a  water bottle or grail.

I believe the Mule is a Follower, not an Object, in revised 4th edition.

It doesn't matter if the Mule is a follower. The Thiefs card cleary states take any 'card' of your choice, not object. The Merchant does have the 'object' clarity on his card though, so it makes me believe that it isn't a mistake to let the Thief take the mule.

  2. Great Ideas. We have also decided to take all the Talismans out of the adventure deck, but we left the one in the Dungeon deck. We do draw randomly for Warlocks Quest as well and also do draws for the Treasure cards. We decided not to let the Sage look at the Dungeon cards, but your variation might make it work out ok.

I like the Ascension ending. Might have to try some variation of that.

    Keep em coming!

  3. So, I am interested in how everyone's group goes about playing their games. Hoping to pick up some fresh ideas, while maybe giving others some as well.

    Picking Characters

We usually have 5-6 people playing at a time. We all roll, and the highest roll is dealt a card first then going clockwise. We each get two cards, and select the one we wish to use. We then 'bank' the other for future use if we die with our original pick. Sometimes people can get extremely lucky and pull the Sage/Wizard combo, and others not so much with a Priest/Monk (Both happened in our last game), as stated earlier I got 'lucky' with a DC/Troll draw. It makes it fun when we can moan at someone's luck and laugh when others get drawn two less valued characters. I mean, it is all about fun anyway!

    Reaper

Just to make the reaper come into play more, we made a house rule that allows him to be moved on a roll of '1 or 2' instead of the normal 1. We also allow him into the new dungeon and he can teleport to/from Treasure Chamber/Portal of Power.

    Trophy

No, No. Not the trophy you get from killing an enemy! Our group has a travelling trophy of sorts. Whoever wins that weeks game gets to write their name on, take it home, and put it on the mantle over the bed, with the wife's permission of course! Just to be cheesey, we decided to use a $10 plastic WWE (Professional Wrestling) Gold Bling Belts. We write our names on the belt, kinda like the Stanley Cup Trophy. It is totally a status symbol to take home at 2am so your wife isn't as mad. Maybe throw in some flowers, and all is forgiven for being out so late!

    Food

Now with this, we are pretty basic. We have our soda, usually consisting of the new sugar Mtn. Dews and IBC Root Beers. We then have our resident host make up a batch of his cheese dip. It consists of Cream Cheese, a couple Glass Jars of some cheese I have no idea what, jalepenos and green chile. Fantastic I tell ya! Ever since our first spill of water onto a BI 4th edition, we make sure to have nothing around the table with the new FF Revised 4th, Reaper, or Dungeon boards though.

I was also wondering if anyone has ever lamenated their cards? I have thought about doing at least the Character cards as it seems the new FF adventure, purchase, dungeon, etc.. have a glossy finish to them. Just wanted to see if anyone had a rough estimate of the cost to do all of the cards. Not looking to do it at home, would prefer like a Kinkos or something.

    Thanks!

  4. I don't get the obsession that is the Dark Cultist being too powerful. She has been played regularly in our games, but has yet to do anything significant. I drew the DC our last game over the weekend. It took about 15 turns before I was dead, and then drew the Troll and ran through the Dungeon straight to the Crown. In fact, it seems that the characters that are portrayed as being the weakest, on these forums at least, have actually had greater success. Elf, Priest, Minstrel have all done more including winning a few games a piece. It all depends on how the luck of the draw is in the game, and house ruling to keep the DC out is a little over the top in my opinion.

You guys whine way too freaking much. I swear it is like I am reading a board full of 8 year olds that didn't get a candy bar after mom bought them a cake. It's not like the promo cards are super special.. We have the Academy, which is Identical to the Instructor, and the Doppleganger is just a Strength version of another card. Quit your whining, print the stupid cards out, and continue playing.

And then what happens the NEXT time there's promos? Maybe they won't be so similar. And I could care less how good the cards are. I just want them because I love Talisman. That's why we're complaining.

    Print them out. Free Cards!

  7. Well it has become custom to roll dice at the same die if you need to roll two or three, that way we easily avoid issues with the first rolls.

  8. Does anyone know a place that I can buy extra dice that have the Talisman as the 1 side? I usually play with 5 others and passing die around is getting pretty old, and I was hoping that I could find somewhere to buy some but I haven't had any luck.

    Thanks!

  9. Amazing! I painted mine last week, and while my skills are nowhere near yours, it was my first time painting figures ever, any colors on the figures bring the game more to life in my opinion. I had a great time and only put in about 5 hours painting all of them, but all the guys I play with thought my work was good enough for what we do. I will try to post some pictures later today or tonight, and show how bad they really are. I would suggest everyone paint their figures, even if it is your first time!

    I don't think I've been invovled in a game that didn't go 4 hours.

Me and my friends must be retarded.

Most of the time is spent arguing rules though... the newest version has helped, hopefully we'll see some quicker games.

You guys must not attack each other enough!

Nope. We play with a couple people who refuse to attack each other. But this edition has increased play quite a bit.

  11. Wow, they look fantastic! When I first got the game the first thing my friend asked about was the figures.. We were both disappointed to find out they were just plastic molds. He had talked about painting them, maybe this will serve as inspiration.
