The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]
HappyDaze replied to P-47 Thunderbolt's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
I wouldn't bet on it. Season 2 shows that they are shooting for spectacle...but that might just be what most of the more casual viewers want. -

Error of translation does not mean error in source. -
For those Corellians that like 'em thick.

Ah, but the original Hebrew may have been flawed and the later (English) version was corrected through divine inspiration. Hey, if you can buy that divine inspiration gave the original, then why not the revision? -
The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]
HappyDaze replied to P-47 Thunderbolt's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
I didn't mind the characters that started on this show (Greef, Dune, and Mayfield) because they felt like NPCs. OTOH, Bo Katan, Fett, Asoka, and Luke were definitely more in the light of GMPC in my eyes, with the negative baggage that carries (not that they didn't look pretty cool...). It's not that they were PCs from a previous campaign, it's that they were the GM's PCs from previous campaigns and we had to be shown how totally cool they were, even compared to Mando. -
The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]
HappyDaze replied to P-47 Thunderbolt's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
Well, I for one am hoping that next season Mando gets to stand on his own in most of the episodes. If this show were a RPG, the frequency of GMPCs coming in to dominate the scenes has been pretty high this season. -
The Mandalorian Season 2! [Spoilers]
HappyDaze replied to P-47 Thunderbolt's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
I'm speaking on the authority that perhaps the original writer may have improperly interpreted the source of the message, and perhaps the later translator may have spoken with the same source and applied errata. As for whether a particular version makes sense, it's religion--not everything in religious texts has been made with the intent to be logical or to avoid causing lots of problems--and that may be according to the intentions of the source. -

On what authority do you have it that the original was correctly interpreted? What if a later translator claims that same authority provided a more correct version? -

For that matter, the original version may itself have been inaccurate. -

That depends on what version is being studied. And the fact that there are multiple interpretations (and people are so quick to jump to the one they don't ascribe to as being WRONG!) goes the whole point I was making about religions being incredibly strict...until it's better for them not to be. -
Which small Imperial cruiser?
HappyDaze replied to Andreievitch's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
This is Star Wars. In Star Wars, a wing is typically 6 squadrons (72 fighters). -
Firefly is coming to Disney +,

I don't always agree with the pirate, but this time, he's absolutely right. -
A Couple of Starfighter-Based Quandaries
HappyDaze replied to venkelos's topic in Star Wars: Age of Rebellion RPG
The important thing to remember is that rank is not directly tied to piloting (or gunnery) skill. If you are using the minion rules and supporting (NPC) squadron mates, then having a good Presence/Leadership and the talents to pull your flight in to protect yourself, then you'll do far better than a solo pilot with great flying/shooting skills because you won't get shot down, even if your squadron does. I know, it seems ruthless and cowardly, but that's how starfighter combat works in this game. -
Heavy Blaster Pistols and ammo
HappyDaze replied to RLogue177's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
There has been at least one other heavy blaster pistol that specifies that it has this rule (and it might have run out with only two Threat) and one other that I can recall that is supposed to be special because it does not have this issue. -
I'd rather it be after R1 and we find out that Cassian is a role played by Alliance spies (i.e., their James Bond), not one particular dude. In this case though, the new Cassian Andor just happens to be the twin brother of the last one (both played by DL).

This word, "wing," I do not think it means what you think it means. -
Correct.
-
There is something almost like that for Brawn, but it is specific to Lightsaber attacks and requires Strain rather than destiny (which means you can use it along with a destiny-fueled damage adder to really smack the crap out of some fool).
-
The same answer applies: igniting is an incidental, but it is not an out of turn incidental. All out of turn incidentals will specifically identify themselves as such. If it doesn't say it's out of turn, then you can only do it on your turn.
-
The answer is No, because Quick Draw does not have the Out of Turn note in its description.

A different take on narrative play
HappyDaze replied to 97Starvipper's topic in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG
But don't be surprised when specializations go against expectations--for a counter-example, Ambassador (a Diplomat spec) has two ranks of Dodge along with Sixth Sense, so they can run around dodging attacks left and right.😉 -
Have any GMs experimented with different spec costs?
HappyDaze replied to Bellona's topic in Game Masters
Genesys doesn't have Specializations that you have to buy, but repeated purchases of talents increases the tier, so while the first Toughened may only cost 5 XP, the next costs 10 XP, then 15 XP, and eventually any further will cost you 25 XP (along with needing sufficient "base" to your pyramid) so it has its own form of balance built in. SW tuled to do away with Specialization costs risks having certain based talents picked up in large numbers on the cheap by skimming the least expensive rows of multiple Specializations. -

HappyDaze replied to P-47 Thunderbolt's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
Rather than an explanation like that, I'd rather just say that the writers and their canon is full of crap and ignore what doesn't make sense. Otherwise you end up with duct tape holding stuff together that only serves to honor the idiots that made the problem in the first place. -

You obviously care about this a lot more than I do. Sadly, you'll probably give it more thought than the ones writing it too, because I guarantee they only go with what sounds most dramatic for any particular scene rather than really get into any kind of philosophy on it.
