What you're saying making sense awayputurwpn. I started having my doubts when the hydra was dominating for quite some time and then started pondering the fact that the Troll does NOT hit on bonus strikes.
That led me to start thinking, 'well, maybe it should have had a line about immune to bonus strikes'.
Thanks for you response.

Posted this on BGG and didn't get many responses - any official word from FFG?
Is the hydra really immune to bonus strikes?
On the back of the card it reads under Critical Hits: None, creature is only hit on its banner color.
That would make it so bonus strikes do not hit it, at least according to that line.
But on both the Ogre and the Troll cards there is clear instruction about bonus strikes - the Troll's card says that it is Immune to them and the Ogre's card lists Resistance (immune to bonus strikes).
Is this an oversight on the print of the Hydra's card?

Yes, this is great news. I was thinking the Cattle Rider and Sling cards were something to make us hold out for another month or two, not a day or two. This is awesome!

Bold?
in Battlelore

Wasn't there somewhen somewhere an overview of all the ways you could get bold and which ways would stack?
The man knows his rules well.
Todd if you ever get that Bold5 on me you know I'll roll FLAG FLAG FLAG FLAG against you right? There is, somewhere, as Caboose stated. I don't remember where, but I'll attempt to paraphrase:
Different ways to become bold:
1) Support: Adjacent to two or more friendly units, or combination of one adjacent friendly unit and Goblin Band, or two Goblin Bands in same section.
2) Inherent unit quality: Currently all Dwarven foot units are bold. All Creatures are Bold, but with the following changes: Must ignore first flag, cannot receive support nor become bold through landmarks/terrain.
3) Landmarks/Terrain: Currently all Landmarks enable a unit to become bold (excepting creatures). Bridge Terrain hexes also allow a unit to become bold. The special case of a landmark or bridge hex adjacent to a stronghold hex is that that hex instills bold2 upon any unit that is positioned on that hex (excepting creatures).
4) Lore Cards: A few Lore Cards enable a unit to become bold. Fearless (Warrior and Rogue) allow a unit to ignore all flags (i.e. infinitely bold). Mass Shield allows all units to ignore one flag, in addition to any other flags that a particular unit may already be able to ignore (i.e. bold+1). Mists of Terror does the opposite, removing the ability of a unit to ignore any flags, though that unit is still considered bold if the game conditions have it so and it may battle back if it remains on its original hex.
5) Embedded Goblin drummers: A goblinoid unit with a drummer embedded is bold. It is also still frightened, and when it must take flags it does so at two hexes per and is subject to 1d panic check for each hex retreated.
Any of these five separate categories stack in relation to the others.
Extreme example:
A goblinoid foot unit with an embedded drummer is positioned upon a bridge adjacent to a controlled stronghold whilst adjacent to a friendly unit in a section which has a goblin band unit present. Mass Shield has just been played by the controlling player. The unit is bold5.

This is great! Thanks for the update and revival of excitement for things to come. Sounds like you and FF are going to make this worth our wait. Looking forward to it all!

Upcoming Vassal Tournament
in Battlelore
Posted
Anyone interested in getting more play time out of BattleLore but can't find face to face opponents will have a great opportunity to play with Vassal players in a tournament currently being organized.
BGG/Vassal user 'LurchBrick' has put in many hours updating the module to include all of the current BattleLore units/terrain/expansions etc. You can find the 3.0 module here http://www.vassalengine.org/index.php
We have seen more players than usual on Vassal playing BL lately and would love to see this continue. So we'd like to prolong the continued interest with a small tournament.
If you are interested please sign up here
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/battlelorecalltoarms/database?method=reportRows&tbl=9
The sign up table is for 10 players but we will be willing to expand the tourney if there are more people interested. We will start with something like 'Medieval Scenarios' and then move to other scenario type tourneys if the interest continues. These tournaments will be similar to those held with the C&C:Ancients Yahoo group http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/ccavassal/
Please post here or pm me with any questions. We are hoping to see this great game get a little more of the attention it deserves!
