  1. I hope that they keep up support. Its a pretty new game and doesn't have enough stuff yet to get real traction but I think it has potential. I finally caved in and cracked a box and while I havn't played a game yet I was impressed with the figs. They seem a little better quality than Descent and IA to some degree although still a little bendy and the rules are pretty familiar given that I have played Trek.Xwing.Armada, D&D Wing and so forth. And its fairly affordable. I am not a big fan of the Runebound setting but I have been in the mood for vanilla fantasy lately, probably still sentimental over the loss of The Old World and never getting enthusiastic for Age of Sigmar.
  2. The 2 boxes of awakenings I got were pretty awful for duplicats but my 2 boxes of SOR were great for even distro. I did ALOT of CCG buying through the 90s and it seems pretty standard. Sometimes you get a great variety sometimes you pull the same stuff.
  3. I have $800 in x-wing so far and still don't feel like I have enough variation to truly enjoy the game fully and there is another wave coming. Its approaching the cost of some of the larger 40k armies I have shelled out for.
  4. 2 Hours is an EPIC mini wargame? My how times have changed. 2 days was once regarded as truly epic. 2 hours.....I have had games that took longer than that to even set up. LOL.
  5. I commented in one of these threads shortly after the announcement that I thought FFG was probably going to fast track this one for the holiday season.
  6. I know, I just dumped $600 into and army to barely squeek to 1850 points. Then I realized why I tray to avoid 40k. its worse than a marriage. $130 for 3 cores and I am set? And can revel in the 40k universe with how many armies? And still have how much money left over to dump on other miniatures? I can probably save 30 or 40 bucks more on Amazon when they have it? I would rather not buy 3 core sets if I plan on playing but FFG explained AGES ago that they do it in order to pack more variety into the box.
  7. That's why I said it was likely wishful thinking. Actually I think that shipping time on the boat is fairly predictable its the customs snags that tend to delay things from what I have heard anyway.
  8. Its interesting that the Descent dice mechanic has become such a mainstay. Even the RPG is a greater detailed version of the Descent engine. Frankly I dont care what the meta-minded crowd with their absolutaly never ending critiscism says, the FFG Star Wars line as a whole is a lifelong SW fans dream come true and even if the games stunk (and they definetly do not) I would still throw my cash at each and every one of them. So far the minis are awesome, the books are spectacular the cards are GORGEOUS, probably the hands down nicest quality Star Wars collector products ever produced.
  9. Given the huge positive response I am wondering if they are fast tracking this and we will see it sooner rather than later....say by xmas? Probably wishful thinking on my part. Need it or not I see 2 copies purchased at the get go. I never pre-order anything but I might actually buy this game before its even released.
  10. Almost starting to hope we might see a Terrinoth based RPG someday.
  11. Just make it your goal to collect all the Terrinoth setting games. I played a bit of Descent 1e for awhile and tried Descent 2 and Runewars and while there were aspects I liked and didnt like the setting didnt really grab me but with BL2 the whole Terrinoth thing is starting to grow on me.
  12. Given that "attack" is a complete step attack/counter/advance the mobility effect would occur post step.
  13. I hope for a dice booster but for now rerolling dice doesnt really impact my game flow at least not by more than 3 or 4 seconds. LOL.
  14. I've played/owned almost every single game that uses the C&C system including Battles of Westeros and Battlelore 1e and out of them all I must say Battlelore 2e seems to work the best. Probably put MM 44' a close second but definetly BL2 is #1 so far. Tweaks some of the things that needed tweaking without adding to many extra layers of odds and ends. I must admit I like having pre set scenerios as well as the custom set up options. Given the sheer legacy of Richard Borgs system I have high hopes for some good expansions given FFGs devotion and the popularity of the Terrinoth setting.
  15. Well fortunatly you dont have to play games you dont like. I have known plenty of gamers that dont care for the C&C system. I have played more games than I can ever remember from the absurdly complicated ASL and SFB to the simplistic C&C. I for one enjoy simple games that I can pull out and play fast and put away. I think C&Cs overall record speaks for itself and while you may feel like you are somehow insulting yourself and thereby obligating yourself to insult others because a game is to "sophomoric" there are plenty of us that enjoy the system for what it is. Is it a great tactical wargame? Not really but there arent to many that are unless you want to get bogged down in details.
  16. I own every C&C block product and have owned or played just about all the other games that use the system and I think its a blast. I like the feeling of playing by the seat of my pants. In fact I found BoW kinda disapointing and felt that it intruduced unecassary layers to a system that really didnt need it. To say the C&C system is "flawed" is more a matter of taste. It is a tremendously popular system that as of now is utilized by about a half dozen games published across multiple publishers.
  17. I just bought a pack of 15 from NobleKnight games Ebay store for like $10. They are pretty easy to get.
  18. After playing LotR through much of the first cycle we found that the game just isnt that exiting after all. Pretty boring actually. I enjoyed Invasion and GoT far more. Just more exciting. On that note I find the Deck Building Format to be one of the most engaging styles of card game to come along in years. Maybe they will go something along those lines. Either way though I dont really care that much anymore as FFG stopped putting out GOOD games in favor of MORE games some time ago.
  19. Game solicitations are sent out all the time for upcoming product. I see them every month and there are often and all items have speculative release dates. There are always items that dont hit that mark. With FFG they NEVER tell you when something is coming until its on its way to the distributors. Believe NOTHING that is in any industry solicitation. Especially in the gaming industry.
  20. While I have not played it I have heard that AoC is a very good game. I intend to pick it up at some point. I have not heard to many good things about Chaos in the Old World. I have played Runewars and while it has gotten alot of positive feedback I felt it tried to do to many things for my taste. It is a beautiful game however. For the truly epic "area control game" I prefer TI3.
  21. Old Dwarf said: It's Dead...that was my first thought in looking over the FFG Sale with all the BL stuff(right up there with the $25 Conan). As noted never has a game promised so much & then couldn't deliver. The Block Game might work,if it offered different races & you could always subsitute Figs.for the blocks we play a lot of our Block Games like that. OD Conan was produced by Nexus and only distributed by FFG. Nexus went belly up so thats not really FFGs deal. However FFG owns Battlelore so any decision to end support and wave bye bye is 100% their choice. I think it all comes down to how well a game does. So it could be doing well but not well enough. FFG deams the fans of BL to not be significant enough to care about. Essentially it comes down to more lemmings jumping of the ooh aah of each churned out new game week after week then the number of people buying BL expansions. We are just wallets to empty not fans to please. Thats why I am much less of a fan then I was even a year ago of FFG.
  22. TheKingOfBlades said: If this game does get picked up by another company I would really enjoy seeing GMT games getting. I know this will never happen but this would be my ideal company to handle this game. The two main reasons I would want GMT to take it over is because 1) the p500 system. As long as they get enough preorders for a game system they will continue to support it. 2) They would turn it into a block game. I know a lot of people would rage at the idea of this game losing its minis for blocks but in my gaming experience blocks are far superior to minis. At first I was hesitant to pick up C&C Ancients because of the blocks but after playing it I discovered they work very well. I prefer blocks to minis for many reasons: 1) much easier to store 2) much easier to set up and put away again. Although I really enjoy battlelore setting up a game of call to arms can take a very long time if you have to search through many different storage cases to find all the pieces you need. 3) I know people love their minis but I prefer the blocks for their abstract visual effect. With minis when I see a unit of 4 soldiers it fells like there is only 4 soldiers in that unit. But when I have 4 blocks it is much easier to imagine that you have a large unit of soldiers. Also to me it just looks awesome when you have a wall of blocks ready to smash into another wall of blocks. 4) Blocks are a ton cheaper. For the $40 that code of chivalry cost we got 42 miniatures. For that same price we probably could have gotten 150 blocks. GMT being the home of C&C that would be cool. I gotta agree as well I love C&C and own every title. I love the blocks. For some reason they lend a sophistication to the game in my mind for some reason. Maybe its just me. If Battlelore went blocks that would be great. Anybody out there ever play Wizard Kings? Great game. More of a Stratego type but still tactical and blacks and fantasy and you get like 6 armies in the game. All that being said I dont see alot of major support going towards Battles of Westeros at this point either. In fact my initial notion was the FFG as a whole tend to let drop products that dont meet a certain level of sales. I dont know that for sure but it sure seems that way more and more. The only problem is they tend to alienate fans that they may have indicated big things for certain games and then never deliver (like BoW). Those fans are still there waiting. In the meantime FFG is out trying to get new fans with one or 2 new games every single month and pushing out left and right for new products that sell well and are inexpensive to manufacture (LCGs, any 40k RPG book so on..). Thats the things that has tended to turn me off. Sure we have gotten 2 new titles for Twilight Impirium (I never really expected that, because the game is so beafy already) but where is support for Battlelore and Tide of Iron and Descent(we already know where that is going and I would bet money we wont see much in the way of expansions like with Descent 1) and so forth. FFG really seems to have moved to a one shot game company rather than a company that produces expanded systems. Just sad that they took a game like BL and just took it out back and put a round in the back of the head. oh well.
  23. Looks like the game is being put to bed to me. I realize that FFG is a business first and foremost but I cant see Battlelore being such a low selling property as to just sort of stick a fork in it. In all the years I have been gaming I gotta say that Battlelore has been one of the games that has had the most promise that has ever come along and has gotten the worst support from both companies that marketed it. Just sad. Its funny because the C&C line itself seems pretty healthy. Still fairly regular releases from GMT and DoW (regular for them anyways). Gotta say that FFGs move towards new splash game releases and less to no support for older games has really started keeping me away from anything new. It doesnt seem to me that FFG has much interest in persuing the potential for games like BoW either at this point. Bleah FFG.
  24. It really seems that FFGs marketing approach is to no longer support games at any length but to focus on one new game after another. They have let most of their older games that were once heavily supported slip into limbo. They seem to be releasing a new game every month now with nothing for older games. Its sorta sad and has kinda taken some of my interest in FFGs products away. I dont really want to buy every new thing that they shove out every month. I would like to see expansions of games I already enjoy. So many of their games are so open ended and clearly designed to be expanded and however are now net getting anything. Sad. I am more inclined to look to games like Combat Commander and good ole C&C for some love. At least they continue to get added to. I dont really expect we will see the level of support for Descent 2e that the first game enjoyed.
