    oh crap I think you are right.  Ok 6 squads.  

     

    I take that back.  A ship can only have 1 card with a "modification" on it.  I don't see where it says you can only have 1 of the same card.  Although I did think I read that before? 

     

    and expanded hangers is not a modification.


  2. If I may, I have no reason to, other than being a satisfied customer, but if you play any game in addition to Armada, I highly recommend purchasing Army Builder. It has tons of games in the library. And of course, it has Armada with clear, generally one page army lists. It's about 30 USD for a lifetime use with continual updates. The price is a little steep if you ONLY play Armada but I am a huge dork - Armada isn't my only hobby.

     

    I've used Army Builder for FoW and that thing is seriously a piece of crap.  Stay far far away from that.  Nothing wrong with Fabs, especially since its free.    


  3. They may seem as fast as a MKII but they sort of are not because of the bigger base.  Those bases are almost twice as big as a medium base.  So they will not be able to get out of range as easy, and they won't be able to turn as tight to the edge of the board either. 

     

    VSD's will be used to guard the rear of your ISD.  IMHO.


  4. The only problem I have found with tight formations is that you sometimes handcuff yourself in which order you can activate your ships. 

     

    Against 2 VSD's close together I will swing everything to 1 side (except Dodonna) trying to get both VSD's  to turn towards me.  That will put them 1 behind the other.

    Then he has no choice but to activate the front 1 before the back one. 

     

    And As I found out the hard way I had a ship with Leia behind a guppy, and I had them too close going too fast, and I had no choice but to activate the guppy first when I needed it to go 2nd. 

     

    It does take some practice to fly them in formations.

    9 Y-wings is weak. should've been 10

    9 seems perfect. You only need 1 squadron token per ship to get to activate all 9. That means you can get each ship a token and alternate which ship activates 5 squadrons at a time. That way you don't waste time needing more tokens.

     

     

    I cannot wait for the next IFF as well.  I'm sure Dan will give you crap for the odd number of fighters! 

     

    by the way my wife started listening to the pod cast just to hear Dan say "Sta Wors"

     

    I've wanted to try lots of Y-wings for a long time but they seem so useless.  I'm going to try now. 


  6. Reading all these topics about commander costs, what size of fleets people play with...people forget these types of games are as much about fleet building as they are about playing the game.  The game within the game if you will. 

     

    I think 300 points is perfect for the ships we have right now.  You have to give up something to get something.  (although I do agree 400 will be better, and what the game was meant to be played at)

     

    Making commanders costs cheaper or even playing those 600+ games just doesn't make sense.  What fun is it when you can take everything you dream of in your fleet?

     

    Decisions in fleet building.  That's where the real game is.

     

    You can have a great commander like tarkin for 38 points, but in a 300 point fleet that is super expensive.  You should have to pay for that ability.

    The more ships you play with the more expensive these commanders should be.

     

    Sure, at 300 points you could take 3 VSDIIs and Tarkin, but at the cost of no squadrons and no upgrades.  What fun is it (maybe some times :P ) to have the best commander, 6 VSD's with full upgrades, and all the squadrons you want?

     

    At 400 points it will be the same.  Commanders will become more expensive, and ships will become bigger and more expensive.  And you will have to make those 'hard' choices about fleet building.  

     

    If the standard Fleet cost was 600 points tarkin would cost 76 points and ships would cost more.  

     

    Games like this balance the points so that you cannot take everything you want in a standard fleet build. 


  7. Leading shots is a good upgrade yep ! I just don't have the card with the expansion ;)

    But I'm not dropping Adar Tallon :P I want him to double activate the Rebel Aces !

     

    I'll look into Advanced Projectors ;)

    I was wondering if that was why.  Maybe its because I roll like crap but Leading shots is a must for my DP.

     

    The advanced projects i just suggested to fill in the 10 points from Adar.  

    Or maybe you put Engine techs on our Neb. 

     

    if you Must have Adar maybe ditch your expanded Hanger, if you were to ever get the LS card. 

     

    Other then Leading shots I like the build.  I may have to try it. 


  8. I think this is unnecessary.  Fighters are more important then people give them credit for.  In a game that only last 6 rounds and where not ever game will see ships destroyed, it will come down to squadrons destroyed.

     

    Plus wave 2 is going to have new squadron abilities where they will be able to move and attack in the same turn instead of just one or the other.
