  1. Don't be surprised to see McNabb here next year if Childress manages to keep his job - from talking to several people (so i don't really know the truth of it) mcNabb turned the contract extension offer from the Redskins so he may be available next year. And i happen to agree that the Vikings should have gone after McNabb - even if Brett had decided to return after the fact.

i may have to watch the game in a bar next week as i may need to immediately drown my sorrows-probably shouldn't drink that much on a work night though.

Sanchez really seems to be coming into his own though, LT appears to have a new breath of life to him, and you get Santonio Holmes back as well.

I hate Manning less and less as the years go by. He has lost a lot of the arrogance adn entitlement he seemed to have (I'll never forget him throwing his OL under the bus minutes after they lost to the Steelers in the '05-'06 playoffs). Still root againts the guy pretty much every chance I get - and love seeing him at 1-2 at the moment.

And SS - I can't WAIT to face the vikings next week. I think we are going to knocj the snot out of Fvare - adn yes: it is his fault. The team could have had McNabb this apst off season, but you had to wait for the Brett drama to play out. Then he misses all ot training camp....The only bad thing is that I am going to have to lsiten to teh ESPN guys fawn all over Brett while he is taking his pounding next week.....Oh - and looks like Vick took a devastating shot there in the Redskin game last night. Ouch, Supposedly he can't even pull on his shirt at the moment.

  2. It's gonna be a tough year to talk about football - unless the Vikings make some dramatic changes in the upcoming bye week I think that it is going to be a very long year.

A number of people will and are blaming Favre and yes he deserves some of it but he does not have a whole lot of experienced wide receivers to throw to. And the vikings are paying a lot of money to Berrian for a whole lot of nothing. I don't expect he will be resigned by the Vikings after the season. And Childress is back to his confused looking self when things are not going as he expects, plus I think he has some serious issues when it comes to people saying what they think he should do. so on the plus side the year could result in a good draft pick and better coach.

So far the Bears are doing well, they are not necessarily pretty about it but they are looking better than they have in recent years.

Green Bay is arguably the best team in the NFC North and I have no doubts they will rebound from their penalty extravaganza with the Bears, however they do appear to still have their offensive line problems.

Detroit is still Detroit - yes they appear to have a good running back in Jahvid Best but that won't be enough, just ask Barry Sanders.

And strangely enough the jets games have been one of the games shown here the past couple of weeks, and aside from the first week they have improved each week and a lot of how they do will most likely depend on how Sanchez manages the game and if he can work out a connection with Holmes when he can play again. And though Revis not playing is a loss if you can't win without one player you probably don't deserve to. i expect them to have the upper hand when the Vikings face them in week 5.

I don't think anyone was expecting what they have seen from the Steelers with no QB to speak of. the only thing that is more surprising is Kansas City being 3-0 but we shall see if that holds up.

As far as the Colts go people can hate Peyton manning all they want but I personally think he is one of the smartest QB's in football and teams pretty much have to play absolutely perfect defense to rattle him and sometimes that doesn't even work.

Hey! what are you doing here on my NFL blog!

Geez though - it would be good to get opinions form other NFL fans here. Where the hell are dobbler, rings and sellsword?

Yes - Ryan has got a lot of talk - and very little to actually show for it. And this week we have Braylon Edwards driving drunk on the West Side highway - and STILL PLAYING in the game Sunday. way to step up Jets. Ugh. At any rate - i can at least take soalce in teh whipping we laid on teh Patriots in the secodn half - and this sure has been an inetresting team to watch so far in 2010.

Steelers ahve surprised me by looking dominanat without Roethlisberger so far. And the Colts looked scary good sunday night. until furtehr notice - i think those tow are still the class of the AFC and the Jets ahve a ways to got before we are in their weight class.

  3. My gut feeling is to go with Chicago for the cup, but if you had asked me a month ago i would also have said that the Flyers and Habs would have been out after the first round. both those teams showed a lot of grit in their games that i have not seen in a long time. So based on that by no means can the Flyers be counted out.

    lol.....

NBC decided today (before the Rangers Caps game) that if there wasn't going to be a game 6 in that series, they would pass on showing the Devils Canes game 6 on Sunday and stick to their regular line up of shows.  Gotta love NBCs commitment to this tv deal.  I swear, if it isn't the Rags, Wings, or Pens NBC couldn't care less.

Boy are the Sharks a let down.  They are so mentally fragile and ready to collapse at the first sign of any difficulties.  Combine that with their lack of being responsible with the puck in their own end and it's a disaster.

Sadly Vs really isn't that much better about it.

What makes it really funny is that one would think that people would want to watch Broduer possibly break Patrick Roy's record for playoff shutouts. not that it would happen of course but the possibility is there. Plus a number of people are saying that it is the best 1st round series of these playoffs. But I wouldn't really know as i have only been able to see the highlights of those games.

  5. I like Detroit's chances as well but i'm also happy that i get to watch the Rangers/Capitols tonight.

It kind of bugs me that I have the sports pack on my satelite system but any of the playoff games that are not VS get blacked out for me.

  6.  I try to check in on the boards when i remember .

yeah it was a disappointing season, but when they can't resign Brian Rolston ( i hear new jersey is doing well) and half the roster would be playing with an AHL team if they were on any other team it just isn't that surprising. i have a lot of respect for lemaire and his coaching abilities but it is time for a change and new direction.

Didn't we have an NHL thread? Did these crappy new baords eat it or somehting?

Anyway - Rangers off to a good start in DC last night. i don't have a good feeling about this series and I think in a critical game Ovechkin will be the difference, but I think NY ahs a shot. Although Carolina is the tredny pick, i like the Devils to crush them. Boston should make short work of the reeling, injured Canadiens and i am HOPING Philly can beat Pittsburgh and their whiny, cheap shot team - but based on what i heard about last night, i am not feeling good about this.

In the west, i like Detroit to easily beat the Blue Jackets. They just have too much firepwoer and depth.

I liek teh Sharks over teh Ducks - but I think that could be a long and physical series for a 1-8 matchup.

i think the Canucks will get through, behind Luongo and a decent power play. The Blues got really hto down teh stretch - and its good to see them back in the playoffs, but I just think Vancouver is too good for them.

I will go with Calgary over Chciago, though the Hawks are clearly on teh rise. i liek to pick at least one canadian team to root for and Iginla is among my afvorite players in the league. Thsi should be a fun series and I like both team s- but i think Clgary will get through to teh next round.

I don't recall seeing an NHL thread before, but I only check the boards every once in awhile now.

If the Rangers can keep Ovechkin in check they really should have a chance to advance. I think they have a chance regardless. Carolina might be the trendy pick but they are not going very far, if that series goes past 4 games it will be pure luck. i agree with Boston winning as the Canadiens are just to hurt. i have the same hope for Philly but they need to play a lot better than they did last night.

I think the only potential problem Detroit will have in the playoffs is if they start taking games as a given win.

I want to see St.Louis win but that's only because there is no way no how i can ever root for Vancouver.

Calgary is the better team but they seem to have lapsed into their problem of old - scoring. and Chicago does seem to be back on the rise, i'd really like to see them make a series of it.

i just can't make a pick for the Sharks or Ducks, I just want to see who ever wins lose in the next round.

In the meantime i'll just enjoy the playoffs and wait and see who the Wild hire as GM and then coach.

Hmm... I don't know yet if it's all that great, but I just purchased Atlanteon tonight from the FFG sale. It's hard to resist that $5.00 pricetag.

~And you couldn't get anything else at our amazing prices?

though it is technically not a boardgame another good game for two people is Wings of War. there is a set for WW1 and WWII, the WWI set has minatures that you can get for it. I demoed it at Gencon and it's a fun little game that 2 or more people can play.
