  1. Great thanks... Yes that is what I am thinking, plus the bonus of being a relic... mix it with old hunting rifle and keep an enchanted blade or 2....
  2. thanks... so if it said 'limit once per game' that would be for each copy of the card that is played? Oh and do people generally think this is worth 5XP then?
  3. Thought I would check this with the game aficionados on here... and the questions probably valid for a number of cards, but I am picking timeworn brand as the card I am likely to play with my William Yorrick deck..... I assume (perhaps hope) that the cards 'once per game' ability is for each time it comes into play, e.g. use it,... Act of Desperation it.... get it back out the discard pile... use it again... or does the 'once per game' literally mean that even if I get it back into play? for those about to answer me, I salute you!
  4. Let me first qualify what I am about to say with the fact that I have not actually played forgotten age yet, so may not fully understand the nuances of how new investigators may join the party..... So I understand it is an official ruling from the game's designer... but would it not be reasonable to assume that someone joining the expedition at any given time would have brought some supplies with them? They would have blankets, a compass or a first aid kit... would they really blindly walk into the situation with nothing, or assuming they were in 'base camp' could have picked up their quota of supplies there?
  5. All we need now are the Beings of Ib and it will be complete.... 😁 Well Gate Box does seem like one of the strongest signature cards yet..... very versatile usage, starts in play, can be used 3 times off the bat, AND can be recharged by the elder sign token.... oh my!
  6. I'm gonna go for a third on this, even if it won't happen all the time, the spell or tome can be in your hand as well, which you can then discard (should you so desire) to draw a card, which is essentially another free action... I think that could come in handy....
  7. And as it has no health it can't be pinged by naughty encounter cards.....
  8. Just coming back to this as may play with both cards soon.... So we are saying that using live and learn on a failed test that had Drawing thin used on it would carry the +2 difficulty over into the second test? If that is the case then I assume you would also get another 2 resources/1 card?
  9. Well there was the Dreamlands expansion for the original Mythos card game by Chaosium and the FFG CCG/LCG had a cycle of Dreamlands cards... so I am also very hopeful it will come here too, it would be a great change of pace... If FFG decide they like their prelude style scenarios as well a group of dreamers cut off in the dreamlands by some malevolent could serve such a purpose... just saying....
  10. Whatever else is being discussed on this thread around machete etc. I must say I would tend to agree with this, on the face of it Drawing Thin seems to be a go to card that has some ridiculous potential... so it seems interesting that the taboo list is released at almost exactly the same time as a new card that feels like it should almost immediately be part of that list....
  11. I like the look of logical reasoning.... although 4xp might be a sticking point.... but then again I’m reading it that each 2 horror can be from a different investigator so maybe 4xp isn’t so much.... the colt screams ‘eat lead!’ And reload!!!
  12. I don’t think you have missed anything on drawing thin.... even without the level of thought that you have put into this I was seeing it as a pretty incredible card any standard survivor, let alone other class characters who can take it and abuse it... e.g. for Preston it’s straight on to family inheritance with the resources so he can keep the advantages of dark horse, then he can pump fire axe, pump extra actions with various cards, grab clues with Lola/intel report/streetwise etc.
  13. Ok got it! Thanks... thought it would be something simple... but as it let me pick from all the sets straight away this didn’t cross my mind....
  14. Ok thanks, hence the difference between a free action and an additional action I guess....
  15. Hi All.... i have just started to use Arkham db for some deck building and seem to have issues with it only allowing me to add 1 of some eligible cards to my deck. i have started with my current joe diamond deck, and seem to only be able to add 1 beat cop, .45 auto, Milan Christopher, working a hunch and a few others... i know many of you out there use it (or even help run it) so any guidance or confirmation of an issue would be great...
  16. Would this mean then that shortcut(2) provokes an attack of opportunity, but shortcut(1) does not?
  17. Thanks, yes astral travel does have the bold so that makes sense, I also meant to include mists of r’lyeh but as that is not in bold I assume it goes under ‘does not take an additional action’ bucket... on other cards then I think it is fair to say if it has move or ‘perform a move action’ 3 & 4 would still not cost an action or need to make the test, where as in Assussanni’s example all methods of moving away would need to also pass any test or pay additional actions etc.
  18. Hi all! just want to make sure we are playing things right on cards/effects that affect movement... as we see it some cards ‘circumvent’ frozen in fear’s effect re movement as it specifically states the tacking of the action... 1) standard is to use your allotted actions, of which it would cost 2 2) the lvl2 shortcut would reduce this to 1 of you actual actions, as it have the word ‘move’ in bold so it is still considered to be a move action even though it is a free action 3) the lvl0 shortcut would enable you to move without spending any of your action, just the use of the card as the word ‘move’ is not in bold and so not considered an action per se 4) pathfinder likewise allows the move without spending any actions 5) astral travel likewise allows the move without spending any actions Finally I’m sure there have also been locations and other effects that state things like ‘when moving from this location test x or cancel the move...’ would the assumption above hold true (assuming they are in fact correct as stated) for such cases, e.g. 1) & 2) would require the test, the others would not... thanks in advance...
  19. We just say... which skill is it I’m failing at again???? 🤪
  20. Having played the game more sporadically over the last couple of years it has certainly become apparent to me now that I have been back playing consistently for a few months how the card pool now is starting to round out investigators and open up interesting deck builds.. the points made by buhallin on the camera and in general really hit on that note for me..... sixth sense starts to open up the concept of a mystic doing lots of the clue gathering even more, so if they can take the camera it’s going to power up all their spells as well... as ever I really enjoy reading people’s take on the cards, as it often opens up lines of thought for me that can lead to some great deck ideas!!!
  21. Drawing Thin does look good both ways.... especially if you have look what I found in yr hand for that investigation check... hey I found some evidence and a pile of cash.... or maybe.... Drawing Thin + dark horse + fire axe + Preston = 3x attacks at +4skill/+1dam, or extra cash to spend after the critter is dead or an extra card draw.....
  22. I think most of the points I would make have already been covered, I would add... 1. Probably worth spending the xp you have from the first scenario and having a crack at the second one... the action ramps up and for me has much more the flavour of a ‘real’ AH:LCG game (a nod to awp832 on that one!!). Plus you get to see how the choices you make and resolutions you come to affect the rest of the campaign... By spending the xp and completing the final 2 scenarios you should get a better idea if it is for you. 2. I too have played the majority of Fantasy Flight Arkham Files games, as well as their predecessor LCG/CCG and the ‘original’ Mythos CCG from Chaosium and this is by far my favourite of them all!!!
  23. Nothing here.... even with my summon mythos pack spell....
  24. I must say that enchanted blade looks pretty good to me too, especially in multiplayer for secondary enemy slayer, such a Joe in our group.... it gives flexibility on when to pump, yet still gives the +1, and it’s a relic.... you can easily upgrade to something else as you see fit....
  25. Nice! We literally did The Unspeakable Oath last night and that hits the nail squarely on the head!!
