  1. haha thanks for the prompt reply. Yeah we did lose then. Seems we have to rush to close the gates, if not to seal them Good to know!
  2. Hello I recently bought the expansion Dunwich. I wanted to know, as it does not seem to be specified in the rules, if the gates appearing in Dunwich count against the total number of gates which will awaken the Ancient One? For instance, in the case of four players, the total number of gates needed to awake the AO is 7. If there are 6 gates in Arkham and one appears in Dunwich, does the AO awake? I know monsters do not stack, not sure about gates Thanks in advance
  3. Bought Ptolus on Amazon.ca for 80$CAD, hardly 120$US. Worth any penny of it. Indepth and amazing setting. As told by the previous poster, Ptolus is an entirely different thing than WFRP3. I already knew the system and you could flip its pages (I did that in a store just to make sure it was top-notch quality). Here, we are just making a leap in the dark for an hefty price. Honestly, I guess there are a lot of people like me who might be interested by the game, but are turnoff by the price. I hope FFG will disclose free material/videos/whatever to entice us buying it.
  4. I'm seldom playing WFRP nowadays. However I'm curious about the new edition. It is understandable that die-hard fans of the old system are quite skeptic as this seems indeed a huge revolution in the WFRP. On the other hand, the Roleplaying world is evolving, whether we like it or not. FFG is betting on a new system. I feel a bit skeptic myself, but would want to try it out anyway. The price though is a bit of a turnoff. I would hardly spend 100$ for a game I do not know if I will like. However I think FFG will probably discolse free content just to entice people to buy it. We'll see.
  5. Thanks for the reply. It wasn't obvious reading the rules (unless I missed that part). Another question: Can you trigger the effect of a character who is exhausted or insane?
  6. Sorry I did not explain myself well. Let's have an example: Clover Club Torch Singer (F66) says: Action: Pay 1 to choose a character. Until the end of the phase, that character gets -2 skill. My question is: In order to activate the card's action, do I need to drain a domain with at least a Syndicate resource as if I were put into play the card or can I drain a domain with no matter what its resources, as long as I drain one resource.
  7. When in order to activate an Action, you have to pay a cost (Pay 1 to...), are you draining the resources following the same rules as if you were activating a card (i.e. you need at least one resource matching the faction of the card you want to play). As an example, if can I activate a Hastur character's ability draining a domain without Hastur resources?

I was wondering if I could use then the Timebomb card to wipe the entire Terrible Experiment monsters out of the game, as all the monsters are considered to be in one location? Oh just saw on the FAQ that the monsters are considered not be on the board, so I guess Timebomb won't work against them

  10. I had the same question as you had. Bought the LCG core set then Chapter Packs both new and old. But a lot was missing. I was especially sad not being able to play any Martell and Greyjoy decks. Then I decided to buy a wholesale buy which included ITE 5K, House of Talons and House of Thorns set., with many rare. I had not regret it since. You get many more options and I consistenly changed the original LCG Core set decks too, even key characters (for instance I changed the Core Cersei card which is terribly weak with the ITE Cersei, a real booster for the Lannister, same with Grey Wind. etc.) Again, it depends if you are gonna play with friends or your wife. I play mainly with my friends and provide them with all the decks. So far it has been fun.
  11. LetsGoRed said: One problem worth mentioning that I do have with the tutorial is that it stutters. I have decent download bandwidth (~2.2mb), but the tutorial doesn't seem to buffer enough before it starts playing, so it's constantly bumping up to the download point. Maybe it's just a problem on my end, but thought I should mention it. Yup, same problem here. The stuttering is sometimes very annoying. Otherwise I really liked the video and will probably spread it around to a few friends who might be interested in the game.
  12. The main problem is the slowness of the server. But I think FFG will or is adressing this issue. My other complaint is the colour and background which hurt my eyes a little bit. Especially if I have to read quotes.
  13. Things that you can do to maximize the space on the table: -encounters card could be placed in their neighborhood. Moreover, one post in the old forum highlighted how mixing encounters card from 3 nearby together wroked surprinsingly well. (basically you have 9 neighborhoods, so 3 decks of 3 neighborhood each mixed). In this way, you flip over cards as in the Other Worlds deck, until you find a neighborhood card corresponding to your current location. This saves a lot of space and besides automatically shuffle the cards. -Business card or brochure holders (I've seen a few pictures I think on Boardgamegeek, never tried them though). I agree that two boards or more means a lot of space. I think there is no solution for that, but to get two tables. On the other hand, it's a good excuse for a few stretching exercise moving around the table
