I will be attending GenCon again this year, and will be playing in both Dust Tactics and a few Heroscape tournaments as well. This will be my first time playing Dust Tactics in a tournament setting. Is there any thing that I need to know to help make it a smooth experience?

I actually was slightly considering going until trying to get any information about Gencon happenings from their website required me to "sign up or sign in" before giving any information beyond the dates and how great Gencon is. Why do I need to give them my email (or bother going to one of my throw away online accounts) to find out the times and dates of events?
What do you mean by this? Is there more information about the GenCon tournaments then what is posted on the GenCon site?
What factions are you guys playing (feel free not to answer)?

This is on the products page:
BattleLore: Creatures Expansion
Creatures from the darkest corners of the realm strike out against their opponents with horrible new attacks that can kill with a single blow. Keep your guard up when fighting with the beasts of BattleLore: Creatures.
Wood Giant
The Wood Giant is a variant Creature based on the promo-only Hill Giant figure with a new lair and new abilities. This Green Banner Creature attacks enemies from afar with a flurry of logs hurled from any forest on the battlefield.Rock Elemental
Like the Wood Giant, the Rock Elemental is based on a figure (Earth Elemental) that was formerly only able to be obtained by special promotion. The Rock Elemental is a Red Banner Creature that is able to be summoned via a Magic Vortex to almost anywhere on the battlefield.Hydra
The Hydra is a totally new Blue Banner Creature that gets more powerful when it is damaged. As its multiple heads take hits, they are removed and possibly replaced by even more heads. With an attack based on the number of heads the Creature currently has, the Hydra is a fearsome foe indeed.BattleLore: Creatures Expansion includes;
3 Unique Creature Figures, Wood Giant, Hydra with 6 interchangeable head/neck pieces, Rock Elemental
3 Creature Banners
A Rules Booklet, including 4 new adventures
2 Landmark Tiles
7 Web Tokens
7 Poison Tokens
1 Conjure Token
7 Cards, 1 Tactics Card, 4 Creature Summary Cards, 2 Landmark Summary CardsWith the 7 Web Tokens, 7 Poison Tokens, and 4 Creature Summary Cards I think that there will be somthing to do with a spider.

No need to wait for Creatures, the box and rules specifically stated that it included the giant, the elemental, and the hydra, and that rules were included for using the spider as blue (and I can't recall, but maybe an extra banner as well) but no spider figure. And $10/figure is a bit steep, but better than you can get them for on the open market (sadly)--but then again, they hydra is pretty cool, with a total of 13 pieces to it (the 6 heads, the 3 single necks, and the three double necks, plus the body itself).
but for those who have the earth and giant, basically paying for a hydra and new cards is PRETTY steep. So sure hope they include a spider (doesn't look like it - based on the News feed today, there is no mention of the blue spider card even).

I'm a bit disappointed that the Creatures pack is going to contain 2 models I already have (and the actual creature abilities don't look too different either).
The Dragons pack is looking more interesting for me at the moment, but I guess I'll wait for the reviews.
I agree..and this will be the case for most people who have the elemental and giant. Probably why they put the Hydra in it. So basically for the people who do have them, they are basically buying the cards and the hydra figure.

This is how I feel as well. I would need there to be cards on how to play a different spider along with SOMETHING that "sets the hook" for me.

Did you see the scenarios in the game as well do you know if there is a need for two spiders?

So to me it looks like I/we are going to have to wait on the Creature expansion to come out before I/we know for sure if there is truly a need for two spiders.
-
Yes those are the card that we are talking about. I want to know if they will ever be “officially released” so that they look and fell like they belong with the game.
-
Two things:
First, would someone please acknowledge that, I DO NOT NEED to have two copies of the core set in order to play epic with reluctant allies if I have a copy of every expansion.
And second,

Is there an official scenario where you need two spiders?
The only glimpsed scenario for the forthcoming Creatures expansion, on a mock-up of the rules booklet at GenCon, had a scenario where the Standards army had 2 spiders on there side (one using the standard Green banner, one using the Blue banner spider rules that will be in that set). I don't know of any that are currently available, though.
I was under the assumption that there will be another spider in the Creatures expansion, or are they just giving us a blue banner for a duplicate spider that we should already have?

I was also wondering about these cards:
Dwarven Cattle Riders Unit Card (PDF, 2.2MB)
Goblin Sling Weapon Card (PDF, 2.1MB)Caboose said:
And yes I know the cards are available for download and all, but can anyone tell us if they will be available as an actual item - to keep the summary cards the same??
Am curious.

So if I am reading this correctly, I DO NOT NEED to have two copies of the core set in order to play epic with reluctant allies if I have a copy of every expansion. I would only need a second copy of the core set if I would want two spiders. Is there an official scenario where you need two spiders?
Thanks in advance,

It totally depends on the scenario / adventure you pick to play.
Generally - the early Epic adventures used one set - but RA games usually need 2 sets.
If you use BGG - there is an old thread under Epic - where the number of sets etc is analysed.
Do you have a link?
-
I have two full games and one epic game board with the rules for epic (and every other expansion out there), but have not gotten to play epic. Do I use the the minis from one core set to play epic or will I need the minis from two core sets?
Thanks in advance.

My GUESS would be that after a few "race" expansions they would come out with a Heroes 2 expansion. Then they could put in alot of really cool and different spells and such.
-
Am I right in thinking that the Heroes are going to come out first? And does anyone have an idea when they are to be released? I thought i saw some where that they are coming out in a couple of week. Is that right?
Thanks in advance

Could someone please explain what "VASSEL" is, how to use it, and where to get the software?
I have been looking for it, and since I am new to it dont really know much about it. I thought that ther might be more people out there like me, and this would be a great advertising post for it.

This is still confusing to me...
The forest cuts his dice down to 2 then the other cards (Mounted Charge/Lore Card) buffs him back up to 4. Right?
Lothiam said:
Anyone else correct me if I am wrong here. But based on what I have ready here is the order of modify dice. Troops description (Blue 3 Dice etc) --> Terrain (Forest 2in/2 out), --> Command Card (I.E. Mounted Charge (+1 dice) --> Lore Card (+1 Dice). So if I had a Blue Cavalry Troop (3 Die) going into Forest (2 Die) on Mounted Charge (+1 Die for a total of 3 Die) + A lore card that allowed +1 Die I would be able to attack with 4 Die.
The exception for this is if a card says "Nothing can Change this Number"

Lets see some pics...
and yes I am very jealous
-
-
Is there a chance that they will ever be "released" on card stock so that they "match" what we all already have?
-
have these cards been released or dose the common person that already owns these exp. have to print them out?
Thanks for your help.

What are the deadliest units of the game?

The best combo I've really used is Tankbusters with Ozz. Add an command squad and bazooka joe to the army and its pretty nasty.
Dose the Command Squad REALLY help that much?
