The Winds of Magic: Opening the Box *SPOILERS*
Amani2 replied to Tarnis Phoenix's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Seems to only have standups for Jade, Gold, Amethyst, and Amber wizards. The Apprentice Wiazrd and Acolyte standups work for Grey and Bright wizards respectively. So that leaves no standups for Light or Celestial. -
I enjoy the WFRP magic system as is, but during a conversation with my wife on the subject of wizards I began to think that perhaps they could/should be able to learn spells from different winds. My idea was this: during character creation and all through the Apprentice Wizard career you would use RAW, then upon moving in the career of Acolyte you may choose to start learning spells from one different wind, then again at Wizard, and so forth. Any thoughts on how I could flesh this out further would be appreciated. I realize this goes against the setting of Warhammer itself, but if anyone has any mechanical considerations that I might be overlooking please let me know. Again this is just a fresh idea that I just wanted to put out there and see where it goes.

Rumours and discussion topics - GM help thread
Amani2 replied to Mordjinn's topic in WFRP Gamemasters
Rumor/Discussion Topic: The Donation Random Reiklander 1: “Did you hear who gave the Dock Street Orphanage that huge donation a few days ago?” Random Reiklander 2: “What? Oh, let me guess it was those thieving pilgrims, right?” Random Reiklander 1: “Pilgrims…? No, no, no they were priestesses of Shallya.” Random Reiklander 2: “Priestesses of Shallya, well that doesn’t make any sense, aren’t they are forbidden from violence? Seeing as how robbing is a violent act…” Random Reiklander 1: “No you mistook me, it was the…” Random Reiklander 2: “…but, then again I also heard these pilgrims were not hurting anyone physically, so…” Random Reiklander 1: “Look what I meant was…” Random Reiklander 2: “…and I did hear they were giving the money back to people in need, and orphanages specifically…” Random Reiklander 1: “Oh, never mind”, walks away Shady Eavesdropping Reiklander: “Excuse me but were you just saying that it is the priestesses of Shallya who are robbing people?” Random Reiklander 2: Yeah, well no, actually it was him.” Points to man walking away Shady Eavesdropping Reiklander: “Sigmar, save us!” feigns shock Random Reiklander 2: “No, no, no, Shallya.” Behind the Scenes: A successful merchant who was raised in an orphanage decided to give something back. Wishing to remain anonymous, when asked, he simply said the money came from the local church of Shallya and that he was just the currier. Now for some unknown reason word is starting to get around that the priestesses of Shallya are actually the thieving pilgrims (see Thieving Pilgrims above). Certain people are starting to get upset, namely the ones who were robbed. They in turn are beginning to rile up some other people who were also affected by their being robbed, such as family members, customers, and even people they owed money to. One in particular was a smuggler who was carrying some goods from one client to another. Neither client is happy with their goods being stolen and are looking for payback. -

Rumor/Discussion Topic: The New Toll Keeper Random Ostermarker: “What’s going on with that new toll keeper, he seems a little off” Different random Ostermaker: “You’re not kidding, I could hear him talking to himself a mile before I got to the bridge …something about his horse running off with his boots or some such.” Another different random Ostermarker: “When he first got here I heard he harassed those nice sisters from the monastery of Shallya. He even waved his sword at them to run them off.” Yet another different random Ostermarker: “Well I was serving dinner at the mayor’s house a few days ago and I happened to over hear something about how he used to be a Road Warden until a group of pilgrims caught him trying to rob them.” Random Ostermarker: “Sigmar save us! I knew our mayor was corrupt but to set up a highwayman as our new toll keeper?” Another different Ostermarker: “Yeah and a dumb one at that, I mean who’d want to rob a bunch of pilgrims anyway? They never carry money or anything of value except maybe a few finger bones and such.” Behind the Scenes: See Thieving Pilgrims above -

I love this thread! Good stuff! Here's something I just thought up: Rumor/Discussion Topic: Thieving Pilgrims - “Hear tell of those pilgrims wandering around robbing folks? Seems they join a group of travelers under the pretense of being good godly people and offering to share the journey and strength in numbers and all that, then at night they rob these folks blind and make off with all their money and any belongings they can carry." - "Word is these pilgrims are true and pious ascetics and they are giving all their loot away to local orphanages and churches. This is why no one has ever found any pilgrims with stolen goods on them." - "Ain’t no one got a good look at these fellows except they wear plain robes and cover their faces in deep cowls." - "Supposedly one Road Warden fell afoul of this group and ended up horseless and bootless. Supposedly he’s now tending some tollbooth out in Ostermark." Behind the Scenes: These "pilgrims" are nothing more than common bandits with excellent wilderness skills and a clever scheme. They wonder the roads as pilgrims until they find a group to tag along with, then one night (not necessarily the first in order to build trust), they rob their fellow travelers. They change clothes and move into the wilderness where they cover their escape and high tail it back to their hideout. They use force if they have to, sometimes knocking people out, but they have so far been able to avoid causing physical injury. -
Organizing Components for Storage
Amani2 replied to Gevaudan1764's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
I've got binders just like that one for players and one for me (the GM). I even have card sheets that fit the careers, partry, and nemesis sheets. Found them on Amazon and they fit them perfectly four to a page. -
Advanced careers, and inconsistencies in existing careers
Amani2 replied to mcv's topic in WFRP House Rules
Sounds good. I something like this idea for the Burgher career, which I think was also mention earlier in this thread, but applying it to the soldier seems particularly apt. If you go with this thought would you be using the Strange Eons aplication to create the material? Either way please share whatever you do. -

"So I guess I'm going to rewrite the Mercenary career to be Basic Combat Military Rogue." Cool glad you now know what you want to do. My first thought after posting was that there were orders of mercenaries that were more professional than other run of the mill sellswords. Anyway good luck. -
Advanced careers, and inconsistencies in existing careers
Amani2 replied to mcv's topic in WFRP House Rules
I agree with Valvorik, in regard to mercenaries since for the most part they are not always employed to fight in major battles or even fight at all, in fact they could easily double as a bodyguard, watchman, or protagonist (from previous editions), also they have a reputation for being only as good as the coin they have already been given or the coin that somebody else could give them to turn on you. They lack the discipline of a trained soldier and would not likely face the same consequences as a soldier who deserts his post. So menial rogue sounds about right to me. That being said I encourage you to alter your game as you see fit; making it your own is part of the fun of being a GM. You could always make Mercenary an advanced career and make a new career, say Sellsword as a basic one (or vise versa). Sellsword would represent the naive roguish more menial sword for hire while Mercenary would be the veteran who understands concepts of discipline and even loyalty. This is all right off the top of my head so I haven't given it all much thought, just trying to propose another possibility for you to ponder. Good luck. -
I have been a gamer for about 25 years. Looking to start a campaign or play in one. Maybe do both.

Make your own cards : Strange Eons Extension v2
Amani2 replied to Hurlanc's topic in WFRP House Rules
I agree about the monster page, the info boxes are not big enough so a second page/back page as suggested would be nice, this would also be a great place for pictures. This would also allow for extra room on the monster page itself such as for more creature lines, and/or just to give extra space on the monster action cards themselves (although another line of cards would be nice too, I've run out a few times already). Also I've noticed that the difficulty modifiers that were recently added can block the action type indicator quite a lot so this might also be fixed by moving the info boxes elsewhere and maybe? Lastly colored stance indicators would be cool too. Oh yes, one more thing, on the regular PC Action Cards the requites box is the same for both conservative and reckless, I've had some issue with this since some of my ideas for cards often differ in there requites from one stance to the other. Is it possible to create a requites box for each stance instead of sharing just one? Thanks and I feel the need to tell you that have no idea how difficult it may or may not be to implement these and all the other changes that have been asked for by me and others, so if what I'm suggesting sounds ridiculous or far-fetched just know that I'm requesting them from a position of ignorance (for which I freely admit) but also I must say I'm profoundly thankful just to have this tool at my disposal in the first place and I cannot fathom this game without it. Thanks again! -

So..I've been playing Pathfinder RPG
Amani2 replied to Emirikol's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Some great points have been brought up in this thread and I enjoyed reading them very much. I too have a problem with vertical advancement. In fact I don't like much having to do with ranks or levels at all. When my group was playing D&D 3rd edition (a lifetime ago it seems) we got to 15th level or so and decided to retire the characters and begin again from rank one with all new characters. One player chose not to do this so we agreed and he became a sort of Yoda-like sensei for the rest of us. Some things about this worked and some didn't but it was new a fresh and helped us out of the level advancement trap we had fallen into. Ultimately though we were still playing the same game so all the old weaknesses began to emerge again. Another trick we did though was to pass around the DMing duties. This caused us, as a group, to worry more about the story rather than simply wanting to advance our characters. Again certain things worked and others didn't (and I don't advocate doing that with Warhammer). So anyway I like the idea of Warhammer being a vertical advancement-lite game. If I want that level advancement style experience now, I simply play Warhammer online. -

Hurlanc - Thanks for all the work, location cards look great! Also just wanted to remind, monster card difficulty modifier is still not working. NezziR - thanks for the printing suggestions, will look into them. -

Thanks! Also when I print my work how do I configure it so that it will print to a full page? Now it only fills half a page, which is fine (and looks great), but it's a little hard to read some of the smaller print. Tried clicking on "fit to paper size" from my printing options, but still didn't work. Any advise or knowledge? -

Is there a way to add difficulty modifiers to the action cards on the monster sheets? In the rulebooks these appear beneath the action type symbol. There is a "Diff" slot on the form but when I fill it out it does not affect the sheet. -
Anyone seen 'The Storm' yet? [Possible Spoilers]
Amani2 replied to Nostromo's topic in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
I'm in Jacksonville FL, sorry no pics, and I'm very short on time here. But what I've seen so far is just more of the same we have been seeing: good stuff. I've barely scratched the surface of the story itself, but the other items in the box are super cool. Particularly the action cards. They are for NPC/adversary magic and they come in three types: necromancy, chaos shaman, and WAAAGH! shaman. Threre are also new tracking sheets specific for phenomena in the story. I can't wait to delve into it more but, for now I'm out of time. Sorry so short guys. -

My game shop was supposed to get it today except the delivery came before the store opened. -
I've read a lot of house rules for this new edition and found more than a few of them to be convoluted, unnecessary, and/or too far of a departure from the feel of the game, but this idea is simple, elegant, and easy to implement. Maybe too easy though...it seems that there should be some price to pay. Something that represents the internal struggle of the character having to return to a past s/he left behind. Course good role-playing could account for this too, but maybe something else might be good to have for more mechanically inclined players/GMs. Something less than an advance but more than a single stress or fatigue point. Perhaps a number of stress or fatigue points equal to the career trait difference. So from burglar (thief I guess) to soldier would be three stress or fatigue. Maybe still too steep. Well either way I like the idea.

I actually purchased 4x5 photo album sleeves for my career/pet/party/nemesis sheets. Makes for great presentation and easy storage. Found them on Amazon do a search under: Print File 458P 4x5 Print Storage Pages 25 Sheets.

Finished reading throught most of the Game Master's Toolkit book last night. Great book, really highlights just how flexible, strong, and well-rounded the new system is. Definitely will be used extensively, so glad I bought this!
