Matt Kohls is the author of the article 'Recruiting Cultists'
and within the article he explains why he enjoys the LCG format
and the 'Adventure Leagues'.
-
I've done the friend request thing so that PMing might be possible.

Yeah, I did notice and I am very curious to know the source of this very nice
but appropriately odd artwork? With no obvious Dreamlands connection
I am forced to guess I'd say it's from the 6th and final 'Spawn of the Sleeper'
AP 'The Path of Y'ha-nthlei' which focuses on the strange and terrifying
transformations of the Cthulhu Mythos. The intent of the artist is to render
a scene where two individuals are having their brains exchanged.
I see no Migo connection. The equipment in the foreground appears
to be merely typically medical in nature however a bit too modern
for the '30s pulp era. This strikes me as being a work of Tony Shasteen (Bite Marks).
Did you notice that when you mouse the image it says,
"We did not have to do this to Matt Kohls to convince him of the LCG concept" ?
Very nice!

I don't recognize that name.
What were his forum names?

Greetings intrepid heroes and despicable villains!
Once again the Call of Cthulhu leagues were blessed with exceptional sportsmanship
and white knuckle competition. I am indebted to every player. Your patience and general attitude
made it a pleasure to run and participate in the leagues. In our Spring league the Mythos factions
of Shub-Niggurath and Hastur dominated but the human factions of Agency and Miskatonic University
dynamited and machine-gunned their way to victory over the dark forces of Hastur and Cthulhu in our
recently concluded Summer league. I'd like to thank John Dickerson our runner-up. His enthusiasm
and skill as a first time league member impressed all who faced him. I can tell you that I was on edge
every time I sat across from him. No doubt John will be a force to be reckoned with in future leagues!
Congradulations to Paul Bittner, the Call of Cthulhu Summer League Champion!
His custom trophy/domains are currently being designed so keep an eye out for
that, it will be something very special!
Leeeeeets get ready to rumble!
Wednesday, July 1st marks the first week of our third Call of Cthulhu Card Game League.
League play will conclude on August 5th with a best of 3 match between the two players
with the top overall records. Any scheduled matches not played on Wednesdays can be
made up anytime prior to the following Wednesday. League fees are $1 a week but
of course you may pay for all 6 weeks at once. As usual prizes will be awarded to
all participants. We are expanding our beginning card pool in this league to;
1 Core Set, 1 of every currently available Asylum Pack + one more AP of player's
choice. In weeks 2 and 4 of the league players will be able to add newly available
APs or double or triple up on previously selected APs. A player who has recorded
losses to all other participants may also add an AP to their card pool. We will be
running the Adventure League Senario 'Heads of Fate' again. Hopefully FFG
will have a new senario for our Fall league. A constructed LCG tournament
and possibily an Eldritch Edition Booster Draft will be scheduled for the two
off weeks following league play.
We are looking forward to welcoming some new players to the league
so why not introduce some friends to the game and the leagues?
Sanity is afterall, over-rated!
See you soon.
Your humble Servitor,
Jeff Secraft.

I am sure that I'm not the only Call of Cthulhu player to notice
and slaver over the house Kraken resin cast! I would imagine that the dimensions
are right for it to function as a Domain Card. Certainly the subject matter is ideal!
I hope these will be available for purchase seperately! Maybe FFG should consider
including them in the next League kit?

I am attempting to make contact with a Call of Cthulhu player
who I was in contact with on the previous but now dead Cthulhu forums.
First I apologize for misplacing your contact information and secondly I'd like
to inform you that I have plans to be out your way in September and it would
be a distinct possiblity for me to bring some decks.

Thanks. I know that Hat's games on Alvernone and 29th supports the game pretty well. They tried organizing a tournament earlier that didnt pan out. I'm hoping they do again. If they don't I was going to try. Either way I'll be collecting the cards, but it would be nice to play.
When you say, "... supports the game pretty well." what do they do specifically?
Are they running demos? Do they have a Servitor? Are they running leagues?
If the answer is 'no' to any or all of those questions, would you consider taking a more active role?
-
I have a friend that lives in Sierra Vista that is often in Tucson.
He collected and played the ccg to a considerable extent.
He hasn't gotten involved with the lcg mostly because no one
plays out there. He retired from the USAF so he doesn't make
it up to Phoenix much anymore. I'll have him contact you if he's
interested.
-
Good to here your enthusiasm Konx !

This post however really should be moved to the 'Deck Construction' thread.
-
Thanks Marius.
Our next Adventure league could very well include at least 1 'Shower' deck
so I wanted to be sure.
-
Bravo! Bravo!
Well done indeed!

I am aware of the ruling affecting neutral resources but
I'm unaware of any ruling that has determined that they have no
faction affiliation when in play. This could be the case certainly.
What is the original source of this ruling?

Neutrals lack faction affiliation. So, they are never of "another faction"

Has anyone read the short story 'Fruiting Bodies' by Lumley?
I cannot recommend it enough!
-
Included in the Core Set is a Conspiracy card which is a Story Card you build into your deck
and put into play from your hand. Other Conspiracy cards have been included in many of the
'Spawn Of The Sleeper' series Asylum Packs. Other than those Conspiracies the 10 card
story deck in the Core is all we have for official play. There are two other Story Card Decks
from the collectible days of the game. They shouldn't be too hard to come by if you're interested.
An expansion to the first Core Set is in the works and I'd imagine it will include a new Story Card Deck.

Thanks for your input!

Q: "I'll rephrase, can a player loose icon struggles even though he has no characters commited to stories during the icon struggles?"
A: Yes(but it is spelled "Lose")
-
I'm suprised that more isn't being said about Parallel Universe !
It will allow Mythos factions to easily win the
Investigation struggle, it gives Human factions
the potenial to dominate Terror struggles
and it can be played as a suprise on your
opponents turn after characters have
been commited!
Yikes!

-
Maybe my question was unclear because I'm a bit confused by your answer, what does 'then' have to do with it?
I'll rephrase, can a player loose icon struggles even though he has no characters commited to stories
during the icon struggles? Donalds' reasoning is uhhh.... reasonable but it would be nice to have an
official ruling, please? It's not a huge issue but depending on the call 'Vengeful Hit' can go from
'okay' to 'not worth a plug nickle'!

"Then" indicates that it must be committed to a story to trigger the conditional part. Uncommitted, floating free, just hanging out, otherwise in the field of play, unstorified, swinging single, undeckdiscardhanded characters need not apply, whatever language you find most clear.
-
Typically, if over-commiting to cover for the potenial of my opponent playing a card
that will hamper my efforts, if this over-commitment will put me in a bad situation
for the next turn then I will not over commit. I'll play it straight up and suffer the consequences
of whatever they have up their sleeve. For me there are no 'never's or 'always'. There is alot to
consider for certain game situations.
-
Please pardon if this question has already been addressed.
At a glance I didn't find an answer in the rule books, faq or rules discussion.
With a card like,
2 Vengeful Hit
Disrupt: After you loose an I struggle, choose
a character with an I icon, remove that
character from the story it is commited to, then
exhaust it if it is not already exhausted

I am assuming that in order for a player to 'loose' a particular icon struggle
said player must have a character commited at the story
during that struggle. Or not?
-
In my meta bluffing is a waste of time.
The philosophy here is, 'force them to play the card if they have it'
so the game situation is taken at face value. Of course if I have extra
resources I'll over-commit to cover for possible cards my opponent might play.
I might also hold cards to counter my opponents play but I never allow myself to be
bluffed.

It would be nice if someone official would please acknowledge our concerns
and reassure the community that correcting the deficiencies will be a priority.
