  1. They tell me that I am safe.

The doctors, I've seen so many all assure me that I'm getting better and

that  these sterile white padded walls will somehow protect me.

They don't see the tentacles coiling to crush and reaching out

to subtly manipulate everything. The dreams have returned

and soon the voice will too. They can keep me here

but there are many more like me, perhaps thousands

that will do what is needed. The stars are right, it is time.

Gather minions! We will dance struggling but all has been

predestined. The previous cycle has passed with Paul Bittner

rising above all others. Hastur 'the Unspeakable' and Shub-Niggurath

'Mother of a Thousand Young' reigned over all else!

Join us in the next Call of Cthulhu league where the stakes

will be raised to new heights. Leaving the 'Adventure Leagues' behind

the new leagues will be a full-blown constructed format begining Wednesday

August 19th at 6pm. Players are encouraged to explore the competitive limitations

of the LCG meta but new and casual players are welcome as well.

We are happy to demo, answer 'the Call'.

  2. Wow, FFGs first (as far as I know) acknowledgement of Worlds '08!

Why no congratulations? Why no photo of the Champion with accompanying article?

A year of silence and suddenly we have a legitimate 2008 World Champion?

Why now Jeremy and not 11 months ago? Personally I have never posted accusing

anyone of cheating but I must question the timing of this announcement.

  3. Overpowered?

I'm not sure what that means?

IMHO he is not broken nor does he need to be changed in any way.

Agreeing with Urban, he is a powerfull card for his cost. We want powerfull cards in the game.

Some cards need to stand a notch or two above your average utility card and for the sake of

theme and flavour Ancient Ones should always be so.

  4. Is there a way to use the deck builder to print off a copy listing all lcg cards

so I can remember which cards came from which APs? This mess could have been

avoided if each AP had more specific Collector info. I've tried to use the deck builder

to do this but can't seem to get it to work. I guess I could print a seperate card list for

each AP but that would be 8 seperate sheets. It would be nice to combine them for half that.

Is it possible? If so maybe someone could guide me through the process?

  5. We have just short of 2 weeks before GenCon and Worlds.

To compete players must explore various builds to find what they feel will be most competitive.

Once your basic build has been established the tweaking begins. All of this involves alot of

playtesting. Certain rule and card clarifications need to be established so Worlds can be as

competitive and legitimate as possible. The sooner the better but it should also be thurough.

I would hope by this time next week, giving participants some time to do last minute tweaks

and playtesting. For the sake of the game's future and the work and passion of those participating

I wish the best. I would join you but GenCon has been a tradition for me for many years now

so I have a number of obligations and Worlds would demand too much time. Good luck to all!

  6. I spoke to our friend in Sierra Vista recently. He told me that he really enjoyed playing.

I hope things continue to grow for your group! aplauso.gif

He seemed to like the components for the organized play.

  7. Cards that attach to characters as a rule mention it on the card.

No, FFG  'figured'  nothing. This is just another mistake in a long list of them.

Some folks may be willing to pay good money for a flawed product but others will not.

I'd hate to see potenial local players turn away from this game due to poor quality control,

there are too few as it is. I hope FFG has recommited themselves to the quality most of us expect.

If Dreamlands proves to be as error filled as 'Spawn' it would be a real shame.

Ok, I took a look at this card. What's the problem again? Is it that it doesn't specifically say it attaches to a character? FFG probably figured people would be smart enough to see that a card that affects characters should be attached to one, but I guess they were wrong. Personally I'm glad they didn't put the unnecessary text on, it would just clutter up the card. And yes, the art is great.

  8. Everyone I've played the LCG with has been limiting themselves to a maximum of 3 of each AP.

If FFG switched to 4 of each card that would force folks to go through alot of trouble to find and

purchase many old APs to stay competetive. Going from CCG to LCG caused enough havoc.

The game is enjoying a recovery, let's not do anything unnecessary to wreck it.

  9. It's true, if you limit yourself to these 3 factions and don't run conspiracies you will be quite subceptible to CT.

If a pet deck or faction is being owned by CT I'd suggest adjusting to a dual faction deck rather than a mono.

At this point I can't suggest running Conspiracies, only if  you must. Of course you can always win your

opponents' conspiracey. Often times in collectible or expandable games you are forced to adjust to the

changing environment. It is unfortunate that those factions have little if no resistance to a single card

that can effectively cripple their chances of competing.

Perhaps more thought should have been given to its' creation.

Summing up - some deck factions, unless they play with conspiracies, will have a VERY hard time dealing with CT.

  10. It does seem to be a rather forced effort in which to make conspiracies valid.

I do love the potenial of conspiracies I just wish a more nuanced effort was made to make them playable.

It could have some effect on the meta but it's a dangerous gambit. If your opponent has won 3 stories or more

and you've got your 3 stories or more but no conspiracy then Theorist leaving play or going insane or text box

blanking on the opponents turn wins the game for'em. It effectively keeps both of you from winning until the

Theorist is nixed. Having Conspiracies in your deck doesn't automatically mean you'll win them. It's a 50/50

proposition unless you hold'em until you have a decided advantage and even then it's sketchy. I believe that

there's enough removal and such even in the LCG to handle the potenial of the Theorist.

CT may give a discard deck (shakey in the LCG) a turn or two which could make the difference.

My conclusion is that CT will not make a major impact on the competitive scene. Maybe Worlds

    will reveal its' potenial?

  11. Actions, Disrupts and Responses are voluntary. Only Forced Responses are, well 'forced'.

As a friendly reminder, I highly recommend reading the faq as well as all other rules sources carefully.

I don't know how many times I've read it through and I always seem to be reminded of some ruling or another.

Also this subject seems more appropriate for the the 'Rules Discussion' thread rather than 'General Discussion'.

    .

  12. That is reassuring.

I am also glad to hear of the staff tourney.

It gives me hope that those that make the big decisions

effecting the future of the game stay somewhat connected to it.

Is it too late for the forum members to help with the faq, for instance

submit potenial issues to be resolved?

I like the above card but someone must tell me, what the hell is " Any Phase" and  'trait' !?

I really hope this is not AGOT terminology.  enfadado.gif

    Any Phase: Exhaust Scalethorn Asylum
