  1. Interceptor said: The "print on-demand" on the FFG news page is interesting. Here's the link: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=2055 . Does this apply to any game, or just the CCGs? This sounds perfect for BattleLore. I hear the French re-packaged sets are selling like hot cakes. There might not be a big market for BattleLore, but I'm betting there is enough of a cult following to keep the game profitable for FFG, even if on a smaller scale. I do NOT have face book... nore do I want it. I do want any BLm stuff, maps, campaigns etc... but I will not do facebook.... you have my email already,, please send it to me thank you M PS screw facebook etall
  2. Caboose said: Sorry to hear you are selling your BL set but I can feel your pain. Pretty hard to support a product w/o any real support. And I checked the various "moderators" for this BL board and some have yet to even post ONE post (I don't think ANY have, personally) in either this forum or others. Just click the various names at the top of the forum list and you'll see what I mean. Pretty sad for FFG to put people as moderators when they don't even bother to post or do much of anything. Cab If I can not play a game... I either burn them or take a hammer to them
  3. caradoc said: My wife is my usual opponent when playing Battlelore. Over the last 6 or so games we've been using the same heroes and it'sbeen a lot of fun seeing them grow. They haven't ever been game changers, but they have certainly been handy at critical points. My wife's is the Warrior (she called her's Slasha), and she has been responsible for a few of my units meeting messy ends. Mine is a rogue (The Masked Bastard of Mercia), mine has been very handy in moving units through and around terrain and this has been vital at some points. The artifacts are also great fun, adding some really useful and fun special abilities to the game. We like this expansion a lot, but to sing it really needs to be played a lot against the same opponet/s in my view. Cheers, Giles. you are really luck gamer to have a wife that shares your hobby....lucky bastarda
  4. we have played HEROES a number of time, but the pllayers in my group, decided it was more effort than it was worth... a shame,,, but it is gathering dust now
  5. Old Dwarf said: The Raven has left the building BL unofficial Fan Site BattleLore Master.com is closing down.It says something about interest in a Game when a Fan Site as well designed as Universal Head's doesn't get enough traffic to keep it going. BL has limped along on hope for years but the lights are going out,we need FFG to really inject some NEW interest in "Classic BL" I feel that you are right... I LOVE BL.... but I have no players.... no a game once a year is not enough. I bougth all the expansions and painted them up well enough . my last expansion was HoHo... but I have not even been able to play it with anyone... I would love to buy the two new expansions... but why????????? I do not have players.. I really love ALL the games from Mr Borg.... but it looks like I will only be able to play them with a partner. which looks bad... OH by the way... FFG... set up a comunity where plyers can meet each other.... 100% needed I do have a CCA player comming by weekly , so I willm continue buying CCA and CCN, same with M'44.. recommend buy BL? hmmmmm , I think not... no players.... the lovely site of the Raven is closed and there is a German site... much talk but no play.. want the game in German.... no idea why... noone playing.... I'll play M'44 online... although inferior to CCA and BL at leat one can find players.. "End of and Era" is I am afraid right on the mark OD
  6. toddrew said: I know you aren't a big fan of Vassal, but I would be happy to take part in a campaign played out using it. I've been involved in two, and although neither really reached completion, I enjoyed my time with each. Myself and three other players were recently talking about starting up another one. no vassal. A campaign game. we are kicking ideas around,,, if historical or fantasy,.... makes no diffrence. please mail me and we can kick some ideas around. it can be Bretonia vs France, oe France vs Biurgund, or the reconquest of Spain, or goblin rainders in the Empire etc etc... if you are intressted please mail me. if not.... no problem.... I really will get this going,, with help... but please lets stay focust... not "I dont have time, the world will end etc" the campaign... and we can do it and offer it to the fellow fans... or we can wait for the gaming Czar to do it for us or we can do it ourselves. eh? Cheers Mike

Second, I can't tell you how awesome it is to hear that you're in your 60s and still an avid and excited gamer. That's so fantastic. My first thought was, "I want to have a beer with this guy and do some gaming!" I think your idea is a really good one and I'd be excited if some folks in the BattleLore community took you up on it and made it happen. SORRY for my slow answer, my PC burned! yeiks... like smoke , well it smelled like smoke, and I lost all my links etc.... sigh. I had a friend visit me today and we talked about BL campaigns. and we decided , we need to see WHERE it will take place. I really do not care where it takes place, Spain, France, Germany , England, etc etc. it does not mattewr much if the campaign is between say France and England, or France and France ( Burgundy etc) , or Serbs and Turks etc etc. or Dwarfs vs mankind , etc etc. we kicked it arround , and the cards are a simple answer, we would be missing out on special stuff that a more narative style would offer. would anyone like to help with the campaign. to be honest , this will be our first BL campaign and we would be grateful if soneone would like to join. also players that would be willing to test battles etc. two heads are good more are better, we have a lot of smart people here, people with gaming practice, but look I am 65 alreaedy and if FFG decieds to do something in in 5+ years.... well the life expecitancy of men is not soooo long, so I would rather do something my self , and not wait for FFG, the US Government, etc,,, we the gamers can do it ourselves,,, right? right! first we need to do a BL Campaign and then wee can continue the developement until we have a great system. anys takers? Cheers M

I would press on and we would get our Campaign bok going, but after responding to the emaiilos , I recieven no futher responce. looks like talk talk, but no walk walk. so, this being a forum, it looks like the coin of the relm is talk talk talk... OK , I got it... not intresst in DOING something to get a campaign book.... FFG is NOT at fault.... we are ,,,, I'm going to be honest with you. The following may come across as harsh, but don't take it that way. Take it constructively, which is how I intend it. You're a guy on a message board with an idea. That's great, but big deal. People on message boards with an idea are a dime a dozen. You've offered no reason OTHER than an idea for people to rally around you. If you want people on board with a project of this size and ambition, you've got to at least show people that you're capable of leading the way on it. Show people projects you've seen through to completion. Show that you're capable of creating such a product. Show that you can collaborate with people. Can lead a team. Can create good content. Do more than make a few painfully error-riddled posts. Because let's me honest here: Thus far that's what we've seen. A few posts littered with spelling and grammatical errors. With all due respect, I would not even for a moment consider devoting a good deal of time to a project if that's all I had to go on. I'm sure your intentions are good and I fully support your idea, but right now all signals point to "waste of time." It doesn't need to be that way, though. If you want to lead the way, start by DOING something. Get the ball rolling on your own. Begin creating. Outline your concept and do it intelligently, error-free, showing that you have a clear vision of what you want to do and how to go about it. Begin creating content for it. Establish a history people can look at. Show them they can trust you to be the rallying point for this. "Come on guys, let's go!" just doesn't cut it. Again, I'm not trying to attack you, I'm trying to help you. I've been down this road and have led big collaborations like this before. (I do it for a living, in fact.) I can tell you from experience that the result you've gotten so far is the ONLY result you'll get given your approach. poor spelling will at my age not be getting any better I am afraid, nor will my typing. as to where we go,, I am a gamer , so I really do care if it is more towards fantasy , or more towards historical. . I have done game developemnt fora game or two, the developers were always satisifed, with my work. here I am solo, so kicking around ideas, wont work, soit is by net nor not at all. Shoe, your mail was very polite thank you for your help. my spellling , grammer , typing , etc is not good, but my game testing is top and suggestions were often used. but being a solo "player" I was looking to do something with mates,, I am reallygetting on in age,,,, 65 now, in spring 66,, so I am the age were I have to get along as best I can, with these mashines(PCs) again Shoe, thank you for your helpfulcomments Cheers M

  11. Elberon said: Maimed said: awayputurwpn said: Excellent idea! Is anyone savvy with software that would help make it look more "Battlelore-y" (perhaps a conjunction of Acrobat and/or Photoshop?) and what are you thinking in terms of storyline, adventures, army composition, etc? Like the specifics? I'm also assuming this will be an extension of Borg-created Battlelore, not a massive overhaul like Elberon's (impressive) stuff? So would there be more content added in terms of game mechanics, units, hero abilities, and other things like that? Or would it simply be an adventure-by-adventure book like what we've already seen with the expansion releases and the "All Along the Watchtower" mini-series? Or what? Basically the least we'll need is 1) Compelling story that is well-written and peer-reviewed 2) Agreement on how much we want to diverge from the Battlelore core rules Such as possibly updated Hero & War Council mechanics, fielding mercenaries, etc? This has the chance to have a lot of cool options, so yeah just wondering how much you would want to diverge from the game rules to enable actual campaign play. All the while maintaining the simplicity of the game, of course. I would try to stay with Richards BL, maybe only specail things of the campaign demands it. where is the campaign from Elberon? can you give me the link please thank you M Hi there, Not wishing to self promote but here's a link to my bits. Campaign wise it's pretty easy, just a spreadsheet that creates a random map put in a few features to capture and away you go anywhere from a nights to a months worth depending on how big a map you go for. (or you could play the Europe wide game using all my additional races.....) It's also got rules for mercenaries (or to to use the term that came into being during the HYW - 'Free Lances') What it doesn't have is a series of related games that have cool / strong narrative inter-relating them all, which this idea would dove tail / fill a need (and downloaded by me at least.) If time and creative juices permit I might put in a few ideas. The other big thing to consider is how many of the expansions will you use (epic, race expansions released by FFG, all since day one, use CTA rules to sub in other sets, perhaps two versions of the same adventure, one vanilla one all in) Chris Hi Chris your campaign is really a huge and very successful effort. I was thinking more along the lines of,, lets say ,, Vlad the impailer , for example etc etc etc.. play the battles that are in the campaign,, it is for me more satisfying of the battles have an effect on the fpwolling battles. IF the is not intresst in doing something along those lines... well screw it. I can save my time and effort.. up till now one player has shown intresst in working on it... the other 150 are just looking.... so with less then 1% intresst.... unless something drasticly changes.... please continue complaining about lack of support for BL etc... can wait for more BL stuff etc.... if you have no intressst in doing it your self,, you deserve what you get... a little,, or more... but you as users have shown not really effort in getting more of YOUR BL for yourself... I with draw my offer of support... I will continue to buy all of the BL, M44. CCA etc games from Mr Borg.. and will not waste my effort for other that are not willing to lift a hand themselves ciao ciao M
  12. Interceptor said: Heck yes. I've been making my own historically based scenarios for some time. Since the Halloween season quickly approaches, I'v ebeen reading Dracula: Prince of Many Faces, His Life and Times, a biography of Vlad the Impaler. The book is awesome, and every one of his battles recounted in detail in the book, I'm am taking meticulous notes on so I can re-create Vlad's actual campaigns against (or defending against) the Ottoman Turks. Should make for some great BattleLore battles. If we could start compiling a book(s) of fan made scenarios, that would be awesome. I'm in! that sounds good, can you mail,me please: Carmich200@aol.com and we can taöl about it more Cheers M
