Maybe I haven't played enough but how did one achieve 4 consecutive mounted charges?  Aren't there only 2 in the Command deck?

I'm sure Caboose will regale you with HIS version of events, and it was well documented somewhere on DOW, but perhaps accounts of the few survivors of my army were mistaken. I remember Caboose dropping a Charge card, then a second, Charge, to which I Counterattacted, and he Counterattacked my counter attack. . . then it all gets hazy. I seem to remember another charge card played after that, perhaps due to a Battlelore reshuffle or some such.

As Caboose likes to finish the turn out, I seem to remeber him killing more than the 5 or 6 required units, more like 8. The entire left wing, and most of the center were destroyed.

Cab, I can't believe that was only Feb 08. Seems like years ago now...

Zeal you covered them quite well...I think that are the 5 basic camps.   And I agree, over time, the cards aren't that powerful if you are aware of them and what to do.     But that initial shock of seeing them against you is never good, especially if you aren't aware of what they can do.

But I think you forgot the special case for you -  "Goblins aren't that powerful are they??   Wait, what's that..Mounted Goblins..argh!!"  <G>

(for those not in the know, I showed Zeal the power of Goblins with the use of a few tactical Mounted Attack cards :)

Yes I greatly fear 4 consecutive mounted charges far more than a HH/FF/RR card played against me. . .scaly green bastards. . . :)

The ONLY time I take a level 3 cleric is when I'm sure my opponent is as well. The players who obsess over these 3 cards are also terrified of them, and with a 50% chance of drawing them myself, I can either play em or hold them out of play as the ultimate threat, watching my opponent spend all his command points fleeing terrain and paying little attention to my plans...

Myself, I much prefer the wizard, like Toddrew.

Ahh, Ye Olde HR/FF/RR debate. Oh how I missed thee. . .

    Ok, maybe not.

    Let's distill.

From heavy coverage on the DOW forums, there developed five disparate factions:

    1. "Too Powerful"
    2. "No, they aren't"
    3. "Are too, let me explain it in endless hypothetical scenarios, and use lots and lots of words to convey my passion and superior logic. . ."
    4. "Whatever, you whackjob. Suck it."
    5. "Don't Care"

Many of us ended up in faction five after having sided with one of the previous factions.

Did I miss something? Coltsfan, Caboose?

How long does this game take on average? I usually find the the descriptions in the game or on the box are not exactly useful when compaired to actual game time.

Half as long as set-upgui%C3%B1o.gif, so play several rounds! I'd say average 30-40 mins. Goes very quickly with experienced players. I did not find Epic took much over an hour, mostly set-up again, same cards, etc. Anyone else want to chime in?

From the way I am being treated by DOW, it was my fault!  They decided to poop in a bag and try to sell it to fans.  I decided to call them on it and wrote an open letter on BGG.  It got heated and lots of diehard fans said they didn't want to support DOW if this was how they would be treated.

Next thing you know, DOW announces they are selling it to FFG. And FFG seemed as surprised as us that it fell on their lap.

You had the general support from most of the active forum users. You were their greatest advocate on the boards, and they didn't seem to value your opinion either. If there was finger-pointing, then it could fall to all of us that were were vocal about the unfulfilled promises and complete (seemingly smug) silence surrounding the future of our Beloved Battlelore. I figured that DOW couldn't find a way to tie TTR to it, and so it was shuffling off to a slow death. And the Troll/Map was ridiculous.

I was very happy with the move, and now time will tell if I spend my leisure hours playing Battlelore or griping about it. . .
