My box just arrived. And since I have one for both X-Wing and Imperial Assault, I decided to print out some basic labels (using logos I found with a google Image search) to put on the top of the boxes. It looks snazzy!
I'd love to see a picture or two!

I've heard the same thing about washing. I haven't done it and have never had issues, but hey, it doesn't take much time to do it to protect your investment.

Thanks for the tip - that box looks perfect - just ordered one, and should probably arrive around the same time the game does!

According to Meeplemart in Toronto, it will be arriving Monday evening.

Tudor is the one I use, and it works great.
I've heard Walnut works well too, although it's a bit "browner" than the Tudor. -
A west coast distributor, GTS, is confirming that it is a December Release, on Facebook.
-
Yeah, I'm mostly just excited rather than frustrated, but still, the issue in North America right now is that we know of many distributors that have had it for a long time but can't release it, so that tells us that there's some problem, and we'd rather have that problem communicated to us than just silence.
And the one thing they have communicated to us - a Q4 2014 release, is starting to seem to not be accurate. -
Here's a good tutorial on the "Dip" method
http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/43744/dip-method-step-step-guide-painting-miniatures
You can use wood stain for the dip, or you can use the Army Painter "dip" as well. Both work just about the same way.
It is a way for beginners to get into painting and get good results. Worked great for me when I got into painting a few years ago.Redhand and KennedyHawk2 reacted to this -
Found this on BGG
"Latest update from my flgs. (Southern California)
I just wanted to give you the latest update about the highly-anticipated release of Star Wars: Imperial Assault by Fantasy Flight Games (Descent meets Star Wars). Basically, the east and midwest warehouses already have their copies of the game, but the west coast houses do not. The game is locked up in the San Francisco and Long Beach docks, and it remains unknown if they will be unloaded before Christmas. Some of the distributors are beginning to send copies of the game from their east and mid-west warehouses to the western ones so they can release it at least partially. But FFG has not given the green light yet. I anticipate that we will get a limited release before Christmas, with the rest coming shortly thereafter. "
My FLGS has confirmed this, as well.

I'm just joking - thanks for the heads up; it's good to know. I'm used to assembling miniatures, so I'm thinking that AT-ST shouldn't pose too much of a problem.

Someone on the BGG forums said that their FLGS told them that the west coast distributors still do not have theirs, because of the dockworkers union slowdown. They are trying to redistribute what the various distributors have so that a limited release before Christmas can be made before the rest of the shipment comes in.
Kind of a 3rd-hand rumour at this point, but it sounds quite possible. I have seen some updates of people saying their distributors have it, but none on the west coast. -
It's true there aren't many females, but with the original 6 heroes, they could have easily had half be female, as they are not even from any existing material from the franchise.
I feel like they purposefully made it so if 4 guys were playing the rebels, they could still pick all male characters (an option that a group of female players would not have.)
Anyways, I don't mean to make an issue out of this - it is easy to make reasons/excuses for it to be the way it is, and in general, whether you're talking movies, books, or any kind of storytelling, having male heroes is still the norm, so it's a cultural thing too. -
I noticed in the add on packs, there is one main charcter still missing. Princess Leia???
Yeah, it's a bit disappointing. Already only 2 of the 6 heroes are female, and as far as I can tell, none of the other characters are female (maybe the nexu?)

Search it on Amazon and it says "this item will be released on December 31st"
On Amazon.com, it's being sold by a Marketplace seller, so the release date is just put on there by that seller - it is not official from FFG. Either way, Amazon (and the marketplace seller) are just retailers who know just as much (or just as little) as all the other retailers.

I love how paganeagle2001 created an account today just to rub it in our faces that he got the game.

-
All right, friends in the UK - go out and get your games, and start posting pictures / videos, so the rest of us have something to look at while we continue to wait!
-
It moved, and yes, it has to do with the fact that FFG are allowed to make Star Wars miniatures games but not board games. They moved the main game entry quite awhile back. I'm thinking moving the forum might require a bit more work so it took them longer.

What, no love for Lando? We need him too.

My IA Box has been shipped and it's on the way.
From which store?
-
Yeah, I'm just super excited about this game. If I say I "can't wait", it's the excitement talking, it's not that I'm disgruntled or upset about anything.
And it's fun trying to find out where things are at, tracking down photos of boxes at warehouses, checking with retailers to see if they have any news, etc. It's an outlet for all the Star Wars: Imperial Assault energy I have right now!thereisnotry and Hida77 reacted to this -
3 player skirmishes can be done really well, if the missions are done correctly.
For instance, if there are 3 players, A,B,C, and player A's mission is to assassinate a certain figure of player B, or take something from player B, or take over player B's base, but player B has to do the same to player C, and player C has to do the same to player A, then that can work extremely well. Everyone is attacking one person while defending against the other. Ganging up tends to not work so well (if A and B gang up on C, then B is just going to win, so A is not going to want to do that.)

Yeah, European and American stores aren't really competing with each other, as far as I know. I can see keeping a release date within the same area though, so businesses that get the game a week later aren't penalized by everyone buying the games at the other stores first.

Hmm, I didn't realize when I ordered this Plano box, but it looks like it's actually too big to fit in the Imperial Assault game box. That is unfortunate. Now I'm not sure if I'll use it or a different solution.
