Not interested at all 🙂

That's exactly what will happen, but I don't think it is what Asmodee wants (i.e. customers not buying their products) 😉

Have you motivations to share?

I think the only case where the X should have a rule is on featMmm ... it seems to me that all the thread is a "variation of the rules". Mine proposal seems simpler, but I don't know how much it is imbalancing (maybe 2 surges?). In any case it should be considered "similar" to "surge-for-range".

About X rolls: what about using a surge to trasform the X in a 0 range/damage?

Or it is just the sign that they have no more designers able to design "good" games 😉

BTW, AI for solo/coop does not necessarly need an app 😉 In fact I will consider it if no app is needed: it can be there to easy bookkiping, but you must be able to play without it. I am not interested in a 1 vs many version, but it doesn't bother me if it is there.
Just as an example, Blacklist Games just ended a KS project for a game (Dire Alliance: Horror) which is 1 vs 1 or coop whith many mechanics in common and without the need of an app. A similar concept can be explored for "Descent 3.0".
BTW, I don't think that Asmodee/FFG is anymore a "good games" producer: they lost too many important people for boardgames development and Legends of the Dark is a demonstration of this.

To make money a company should produce good products. You think that this is a good product, so you will invest a lot of money in it and hope that other people will think and do the same.
Future will say if you are right 🙂

I want to play this very bad. All three acts!
The game is already dead. I wish you that you will be able to get act 2.

They could have done a lot more!!!!! For example, interchangable "steps" to be mixed with interchangable "checkpoints": they missed to become THE DUNGEON CRAWLER 😞 It would have had everything (maybe they should have added also 1 vs 1 since somebody asked for it).

Not from Asmodee/FFG. Let's hope the Sadler's will be able to get the rights from Asmodee/FFG to do something related to HoT.

No, probably your only chance is to find it on ebay 😞

It is quite easier to produce random casino dice than a "good" random app 🙂 Of course, once done, the app can be reused by many, but it can be not easy to grant that it remains unmodified 😉

Just from Asmodee catalogue: Catan and Ticket to Ride. Will they suffer the same treatment as Descent?
FFG was customer driven (i.e. provide good products to players); Asmodee is money driven (i.e. drop games that don't sell "enough"). FFG "must" follow Asmodee "rules.
Catan was out in 1995, TtR in 2004: are they better than Descent? Maybe or maybe not, but they sell more copies and that's why the are not dropped.
Another thing: why a 3rd Descent iteration when people still want Descent 2nd? We will see what they offer, but IMHO they are just chasing "easy money".
Finally, I enjoyed FFG in the Petersen era; I don't like Asmodee/FFG and I don't think it is FFG fault.

1 vs many has mainly 2 problems:
- it is quite more difficult to be balanced (quite variable ability of playing by the 1s)Â than a coop version
- you need to have in the groups 1 person willing to be the 1
1) means more testing and so higher costs and longer development time
2) means reduced market (many groups don't have the 1)
A game with 2 ways of playing can be a solution, but at a higher cost and with a longer time to market (i.e. longer development time).
BTW, a dungeon crawler game should not be a puzzle game 😉 Let's call every game with its proper "type name" 🙂

Yes, the interest is really high (me too), but translating it to sure buys ... I had a lot of interest (even more) in LotR: JiME, but I am really happy that I didn't buy it. Will the same happen to the new Descent iteration? Sooner or later we will know. The same can be for all other interested people.

What make you think that the big box will do really well? The fact that it will come in a far future when the pandemic situation (let's hope) will be under control? The fact that it will cost a lot while we all are poorer?
The train has already gone away: they should have teased 2 or 3 years ago (The Chain That Rust was out in 2016), not now. Now there is a plethora of "better" products out there and it will be almost impossible for everyone to get a piece of the market. I don't think Asmodee is able to produce a masterpiece worth buying: they just think to their ROI and not to the players fun. They destroyed FFG 😞
BTW, I will be pleased if I am completely wrong and they will get us a real masterpiece 🙂

I doubt an expansion will ever be published for this game 😞
Let's see if they announce something in the Terrinoth/Descent "environment" that will be worth to be considered 🙂
