  1. This is so awesome. I'm ecstatic and just ordered my kickstarter. It will be good to have something new to write for again. jh

How to Fix "the WFRP mess"

Im awaiting Zweihanders release. That will be my wfrp3.5. My group will be playing Thousand Thrones whenever the kickstarter is released. We're currently playing "the worlds most cliche game system" for Ravenloft 5e. The only thing I appreciate about dnd is it is simple enough even for an Age of Sigmar player to understand
  3. A request on the rptools community qould certainly draw attention of designers!
  4. Question: have any of you been working on virtual macros for fantasy grounds or maptool?
  5. Keep the good work!

  8. 1) How well does it run? Do the fiddly bits make it harder or easier to DM? It runs exactly like any other game, except you have that other stuff if you want it. I don't tend to use the fiddly bits much. I tend to just write things on a post-it note like anything else. One thing that the fiddly bits do is make this game very attractive and tactile. Use them or don't. 2) How well does it handle long term pc growth? If you've played the same characters for 2 years, does the system break down? We ran Dying of the Light (1e translated to 3e) and got to rank 4. It was a blast. 3) Can you play without the bits if need be? If not, what is the minimum amount of 'bits' that you need to use to play? Yes. We originally started with none and added them as we went, just for color. use them or don't. It doesn't matter. In fact, the CORE BOOKS don't require them at all. 4) Can you reskin the game for other settings? Can you house rule/make up your own stuff easily? Or is everything interlocked so changing stuff makes a muddle? It is the same ruleset as used for Star Wars (albeit they thinned it out a lot, but it still has some of the feel). You can check out my HOUSE RULEBOOK below Enjoy! jh

    The Age of sigmar

It appears to me, and I hope not to offend too many people, that they have made it a childish-anthropomorphic, total-war setting where everyone is a special snowflake and there is no real deep-thinking anymore. Then they are just selling the same old crapola all over again to the same dumb, hoarder-collector purchasers who are gullible enough to fall for it again and then teir goal is to attempt to make fantasy sales into 40k popularity by whatever means necessary to make it attractive to a new audience of people who will buy their obscenely priced, abnormal-scale miniatures and books. The "whatever means necessary" is where I guess I disagree. They probably did focus groups right? Does this encapsulate their actual target market? It didn't work for Forgotten Realms in DND4e. It didn't work for World of Darkness. ..but we're no longer talking about "Fantasy" being a role playing game. They took a lesson from FFG where "it's just business, it's no longer personal."

Really GW? You blew up Morsleib?
  12. Emirikol

    The Age of sigmar

Wow, I just got the details of what GW did. All I can say is WTF???? Abnormal size minis. Destroyed all civilization and went to total-war and re-sell you all the books. Yes, it appears WFRP is dead to the RPG market in its entirety b/c of GWs choice.

A thought on the stop of third edition

We plan to start The THousand Thrones this autumn. At present we are trying out a few new players using D&D 5e with the absolute worst adventure of all time Princess SuckCrappyLips. I can't think of any other adventure I've ever prepped, in 30+ years of GMing, that has been as fakkan terrible as this one. Just a heads up for y'all if you're doing a foray into the worlds most cliche, win-button, oppsoite-of-grim-and-gritty RPG. Anyways, as we move into TTT in the fall, I anticipate continuing to use the WFRP3 rule-set. We've done a few tailor things that keep the game moving at a scorching hot pace: a) 1 defense always active without recharge..so no tracking, b) no fortune characteristic dice bonus for combat, c) no talent socketing..take what you want.

    Complete wfrp3 adventure generator (1.7)

It should inspire ideas for encounters. For examplw example, the griffon may be on a shield, or involve something to do with knihhtd griffon. The dark elves are a good 'spy' or assassin encounter thought. Ive used this for idea generation for all kinds of games..including Colonial Gothic, dnd, top secret, and zombie apocalypse 'inspiration'. Played as-is, a weakening of some of the combatants may be in order..or look to see if it would be a better run away or skill or social encounter. Thanks for feedback

New Gm, help! WFRP 3 Edition.

Next, don't forget to add 2 special situations per character per game. Examples: Boatman - river, water, boat, current of the river, quality of the water, checking the fish of the water; give him a row boat somewhere in the adventure Performer - make a check to keep the group entertained and keep up morale, reduce stress; understand if someone is acting or telling a lie to the group Initiate - he can check the health of the animals, check the behavior of animals, perform religious duties for the group, which may change their stress or give them a bonus to a future stress check Barbersurgeon: checks for disease, healing, and cleanliness of the group - alter their disease checks with white or black dice based on his successes Give out fortune points liberally and have them use their fortune points often! We allow you to use fortune points after you roll. That encourages people to do more heroic things. Best, Jay
