FFG may do what they did for Armada, in the core rules it talks about 300 pt games as standard till large base ship's become available then it was 400 pts as standard.
The price of the xpacs are what I expect from FFG, if you look at the Games Workshop equivalent it's a little more expensive but you get more in the core set and xpacs from FFG.
Tabletop war games are not cheap to manufacture and collect

Nice big box ... but not big enough for my x wing minis, would need at lest 2 of them, one for Rebels and one for Imperial's and the way FFG are going a third for for Scummy - scum - scum - scum with the C Roc coming out soon!
But over all very nice and am glad the box is built to fit the Feldherr foam - the box looks sturdy but heavy

Lore is key in any tabletop game world/universe, it's what a lot of gamer's build their armies on.  A great way for FFG to expand the Terrinoth lore is to bring out novels and even a RPG based in Terrinoth (they have a great game system that was first used with Warhammer 3rd ed and then again with the current Star Wars RPG system).
Only time can tell if we have a game world with something special that stands out from the rest of the other many tabletop wargames, that's why we need the lore from day one, over time it could change and grow with the games over time.

Nand's Rebel lists I think use the available ships and upgrades better then Zach's Imperial lists both show what you can do with a budget of $101, both are a good start and introduction to the game for someone who has no idea where to start and limited in what they can buy but till have a good list that could be both fun and challenging to boot.

Would be interesting to see one of Nand's list's go up against Zach's list see whom would be the victor.

Not sure if its a solid build but I have played with some success with
    http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/555003/dashs-gamble
The idea is to use the obstacles for defence and attack with dash, barrel roll behind them if you need to, then use the EI to use Lando and the Manger Cannon is used over the HLC as you might need to get close when clearing your stress.  The Z-95 just Focus down with the rockets if you can then use them to bump and let Dash do the work.

Lore is good, Lore is a useful tool in that it help's us pick the army and why we play this army instead of that army, but Lore in the world of Tabletop Games is very important, its the fluff we the player's will spend hours reading up on to understand our favourite Units and Hero's from what ever army you pick to play.
Trust me, am an old Warhammer Vet from the 80's, we want to know the Lore just as people in our world want to know and understand our history.
Am Glad we are getting more snippets of the Lore as I find it just as important to know your game lore as well as the game mechanics.

Torg reacted to Trespasser 989 in Why Inquisitor over Soontir?
I prefer the Inquisitor for a couple different reasons. Cheaper price (31 points with PTL, Title, AT), two shields that amounts to 1 extra hit point, green 1 banks and turns, ability to have Target lock/focus/evade (more reliable red dice), and if you want to put proton rockets on him, he can pack a huge punch when he gets into range 1 of an enemy ship.

I think FFG will do is bring out a starter army set for each of the 2 other armies at about $40-$60 range, that should be ok depending what you get in them to make it worth it for someone starting a new army.
I know from my GW day's that tabletop war games are not cheap to get in to and expand your armies, if FFG stay's with a 200 pt limit or even go to 300 pt's later on for tournament play it will still be cheaper then GW equivalent over all.
