It is as though you've skipped the movement phase entirely And yet you're fighting monsters, which is also part of the movement phase. The rulebook also only says you don't receive movement points and don't move during the movement phase, not that you don't have one at all. But this has been discussed to death in the past, and this is not the thread to disuss these things. Another thing that just came up: If an encounter sends me to the street and there's a gate on that street, will I be drawn through immediately or not?
  2. I'm quite certain it's already in there (unless it has been answered sometime in the last few months, I haven't been here for some time), but just in case: The ages-old question of whether you're allowed to cast Find Gate (and other Movement Phase spells) if you're delayed needs to be answered.
  3. You are indeed drawn through the Gate in the Arkham Encounter Phase, so the Movement Phase is already past at that point. However, since the Otherworld Encounter Phase is after the Arkham Encounter Phase, you will have an Other World Encounter that same turn.
  4. I know how you feel; for some reason, Mark Harrigan is the Investigator that ends up with Mythos Lore most often for me. I swear, every second game with him I draw it. And yes, it has happened in a game against Cthulhu as well, but it was too long ago to remember how he fared in that one.
  5. No, after losing 11 clue tokens (five from Wendy, two each from the other investigators due to Father Dagon), an Elder Sign and a Unique Item and a Spell from each investigator due to the Servants (that one could have been worse, I admit), I didn't manage to get the speed I needed. Since I don't consider final battles, I was just too lazy to roll the battle in the end.
  6. I think Atlach-Nacha and Abhoth or Shudde-Mell is not worse than Atlach-Nacha with Black Goat as herald. And by no worse I mean just as nightmarish. A really ridiculous combination would be Hastur and Yibb-Tstll; all you can do is gear up for final battle and try to get as many clues as possible off the board while keeping the monster level down. Y'Golonac and Glaaki are an annoying combination; stalking cultists that summon a Servant of Glaaki when defeated; sounds almost like a scenario to me.

From Investigator Selection, poor Rex lasted six minutes. Yeah, poor Rex really doesn't fare well against Ghatanothoa. My shortest lifespan was second round, Wendy meets Ithaqua in the Plateau of Leng. She didn't carry a weapon... The game was against Glaaki with Father Dagon as herald; I guess those two found it hilarious.

You can't use Find Gate on the same turn you move into a gate with the White Ship. It actually goes so far to say that if you fail combat with a Nightgaunt, the movement phase is over for that character. So, can I assume this goes not just for Find Gate specifically but for all Movement Phase actions? I take it that would mean that fighting any monster will end your movement phase; so you cannot cast any movement phase spell after fighting (examples would include Vision Quest, Plague of Locusts, Call Friend or Implant Suggestion). It also means I cannot try to find an Elusive Cultist when playing against Tulzscha and then cast Implant Suggestion to move it away from the Elder Sign if I fail the evade check, right? Because failing the evade check against elusive monsters ends your movement according to the rules. It also means I cannot first fight, say, a Maniac, then cast Plague of Locusts and afterwards fight the Elder Thing in the same area (which would be useful to get the Maniac as trophy and still make the fight against the Thing easier). I have to cast the spell before facing any monsters. It also means I can't cast any of these spells or use items (like Milk of Shub-Niggurath, Time Bomb, Student Newspaper or Crowbar, to name a few) if I am delayed, right? Can you please clear up for me if that is the correct interpretation? Oh, another question. How exactly does the Dark Druid work? Do the monsters move according to their movement type or as if they were black-bordered monsters? Any word on these yet?
  9. The one thing I want to comment on is Harvey Walters. I definitely wouldn't put Harvey in the bottom five; that lore of 6 lets him close even gates to R'lyeh consistently; he doesn't mind horror checks much since he won't take as much damage from them and he has the sanity to take whats left even from monsters with high sanity damage; give him a good weapon (or even better, Storm of Spirits but I think you are not using KiY) and he makes a great street sweeper. He also has a high enough Sneak to be able to handle Innsmouth after Martial Law has been declared. I also think he works very similar to Carolyn Fern, especially once Harvey completes his Personal Story (which I find easy to do). So I would rank those two very close to each other.
  10. You are ending your movement in that location as soon as you declare "I don't want to move anywhere else". It doesn't matter how many movement points you spent earlier, whether it be 0 or 25 (which is the maximum you can have currently if my calculation right now was correct and I didn't forget an card). You still had movement, even if you decided not to spend any movement points.

  12. You could look at it another way and say that if she chose the "Discard and draw again" card, she'd then be able to draw two new cards as per her text, and choose between the two new ones. That's of course more beneficial to the player, but I think the rules allow for it.
  13. I would interpret it that way, yes. I know that some others count the Science Building special effect as an encounter, allowing Trish to pass her story.
