  1. Oh, you guys crack me up. Can't we just be friends? Ok, I'm sorry that I didn't blindly follow the first reply that came along. I apologise. There, are we good now? Jeeeeezus. If I'm given a solution that I'm not happy with, I'm not going to accept it am I? I think I'm done with these forums if I can't even post a question but not be allowed to disagree with any of the answers. Seems like a Dictatorship. Bye!
  2. No, I'm pretty sure that my very next line, which I quoted myself in my other post, was NOT in your post to which I'm referring. Granted then went on with the above quote to say that I don't have a helpful answer. This part I agree I was wrong. BUT you didn't quote my very next line. Oh, and I'm keeping my ball... Seriously guys, chill. I'm trying to keep bits light and dotting smileys around but jeez if some of you are getting a little serious about the whole thing... wish I'd never asked.
  3. Christ, you make it sound like I'm trying to change the printing of the rules so it ends up ruining everyone's game like some kind of cancer ultimately bringing down the whole Star Wars RPG community:D I was just asking for help to change my own game. I will never play with anyone else except my two players whom I'm had for years. Therefore it won't effect anyone else beyond my table. Therefore it has nothing to do with a "fractured community". It was a simple question, bud. It's like being at MacDonalds (I like food-based examples, okay!?) and they ask "Do you want fries with that?" I say no and everyone in the queue glares at me and one guy says "You MUST say yes or you'll ruin everyone elses meal!!!"
  4. ...and if you'd quoted my very next line, I did say that some answers were helpful and actual went some way to answering my question. But thanks for making me out to be sooooo stuborn as to "refuse to find any help" rather than simply not be too keen on the current suggestions and maybe just looking for something else that fit's what I'm after **** straight. But if you ask a question and you're not keen on any of the current replies, would you roll over and just accept one of them and move on? Or would you say "thanks but no thanks" and keep on searching for a solution? I assume most people would pick the latter, yet I'm made out to be in the wrong because I didn't choose one of the answers on offer? Hmm, ok. Thanks again...
  5. My original post was explaining how I'm not keen on the rules for something, and that Id like to change them. Then I asked for suggestions. Some answers were helpful and actual went some way to answering my question. The majority of answers basically boiled down to "why change it? It's fine as is". That's not helpful based on the information I provided in the original post. It's almost as if the idea of changing the "sacred rules" is blasphemy. Now, based on emsquared's response, I shouldn't expect a helpful answer as to give one may confuse new players... oooookay. And, Kael. I'd love to tell people their idea's are good and awesome, but the people I'm complaining about are the one's who say "leave the rules alone!" That isn't helpful, and therefore isn't a good and awesome idea now is it? If I go on a recipe forum (for example) and someone says "I'm interested in the recipe for lemon tart, only I don't like lemon. Do you have any suggestions to change it to something I can try?", I won't do the following: a. Post a reply saying "Whats wrong with lemon?" b. Post a reply saying "Just leave the recipe alone, it's fine as it is". What I will do is either post an alternative idea for them to try out, even if I wouldn't try it myself, or simply not reply as I have no interest in a non-lemon tart Anyways, as we're now 4 pages into this thread and I still don't have a helpful answer, I will graciously bow out of this conversation and figure it out myself. Thanks everyone! (I think... :/)
  6. One man's meat is another man's poison. Just a suggestion... Seriously though, I always wonder why some people have so much trouble accepting that some others may want to change the rules a little. It doesn't change your game any so why does it matter if we want to change anything? Page 9 of the Core states "the GM is the ultimate arbiter of how the rules are interpreted... <snip> ...using them or breaking them as necessary to maximize fun..." "Fun first, rules second" which is basically the main rule of any RPG. Yet when someone comes along and asks for advice to enhance their own game, they are questioned and belittled by people it doesn't even hurt. If you don't like the thread subject, and it doesn't matter to you either way, why post a response?
  7. Personally, I prefer the "quadruple amputee with lousy prosthetics" version. Image your Player's faces when they finally face down Vader and you built him like that. Priceless!
  8. No, sir. As mentioned at the beginning of my post, what I listed wasn't the entirety of his abilities. I just listed those that may come into play during combat. I also built him with Mechanics (at Rank 4 surprisingly), Coersion 1, Astrogation 1, and a whole list of other Talents. At the end of the day, no-one can build a Vader that everyone will agree with. This was my version and, as I mentioned, you can add or subtract what ever you want from it. Hell, scrap it all together if you like, but the OP asked to build Vader. That's what I did. I thank you.
  9. For those of you who prefer some kind of super-Vader (not my preference to be fair, but that's not relevant here) I used Oggdude's awesome Character Generator to get a Vader built on just over 3000xp. Some of his outstanding features include: Brawn 6 (due to cybernetic arms), Agility 3 (dropped to 2 due to injury, and increased back to 3 due to cybernetic legs), Intellect 3, Cunning 4 (Obi-wan said "He was a cunning warrior"), Willpower 5, Presence 3 WT 27, ST 26, Soak 8 (Cortosis), Ranged and Melee Defense 1 Important skills include: Cool 3, Discipline 4, Leadership 3, Perception 3, Pilot (Planetary) 4, Pilot (Space) 5, Resilience 4, Vigilance 3, Gunnery 4, Lightsaber 5 Some of his Talents are (good luck keeping track of them all during combat!): Against All Odds, Bodyguard 2, Bodyguard (Improved), Center of Being 3, Confidence 1, Counterstrike, Crippling Blow, Defensive Stance 3, Defensive Training 1, Disruptive Strike, Djem So Deflection, Dodge 2, Durable 2, Falling Avalanche, Fearsome 3, force Protection 2, Heroic Fortitude, Intimidating 2, Intuitive Evasion 2, Intuitive Strike, Multiple Opponents, Natural Blademaster, Parry 11 , Parry (Improved), Parry (Supreme), Prey on the Weak 2, Quick Draw, Quick Strike 2, rapid Reaction 2, Reflect 7, Reflect (Improved), Reflect (Supreme), Saber Swarm, Saber Throw, Sarlaac Sweep, Second Wind 2, Sense Advantage, Shien Technique, Side Step 1, Skilled Jockey 2, Strategic Form, Sum Djem, Terrify, Terrify (Improved), Touch of Fate. His Force Rating is 5, and he has the following Force Powers at varying power levels: Bind, Enhance, Move, Protect/Unleash, Sense Equipment-wise, he has the following: Basic Lightsaber: Damage 11, Crit 1, Breach 1, Sunder, Superior, Vicious 2, Defensive 1, Dual Phase Modification Heavy Battle Armor Equivalent: Soak 2, both Defenses 1, Cortosis, Vacuum Sealed 2 x Cyber Arms (Brawl), 2 x Cyber Legs (Agility) Voila! If you want to give him an extra action per turn, or a few levels of Adversary, knock yourself out... he is Super-Vader after all. As mentioned at the start of my post, I do not believe Vader is this good. I think his power and ability have been inflated to stupid levels by fan-boys, but this version should put the fear of the Dark Side into some of your Players. 3000 xp is not unreasonable for someone "in the business" for over 30 years.
  10. I'm going with one crystal needed for a double-saber, and if it breaks it breaks. That's my call for my game. My original question was if there was some published material for a coupler attachment. I think we're all getting dragged off topic a little by subjecting me to a Jedi mind probe to find out why I think it's unfair to give one player twice as much reward as another. I know my players and they would agree with me, so I won't be changing my mind on this any time soon. I take it this means there is no coupler attachment? Ok, job done Thanks all!
  11. They'll be doing the GM screen adventure for Rubat crystals, though I'll be removing some of the mod options. I don't like them explained away as "the same as Ilum but with a different name" so I'll be removing one or 2 damage +1 mods and probably a Vicious mod too. I want to make them sub-par which will hopefully prompt the PC's to search for a better one at some point. This is after all their first saber. I don't want it to be so awesome it'll be their last.

  13. Now THAT was helpful, thank you Daeglan. It's good to understand why the rules are the way they are. It's not enough for someone to just say "it's meant to be swingy, get on with it", I'd like to know why. Also, I wasn't aware that you don't roll if nothing much happened, so that will go a long way to resolving the issue too. I'll stick with it for now and reduce his Morality by his last roll as he didn't really earn it. Thanks again.
  14. Ok, so I present a tough situation and they get 5 Conflict, then he rolls a 9 and GAINS 4 morality... The system may work for many of you but I can't understand how no one see's this as a problem.
