  1. Well technically the title of this is a bit misleading as I have now run WFRP a total of 4 times. My play group started out with A Day Late a Shilling Short and then led into An Eye for An Eye which we just completed yesterday.

I have to say that overall this game is GREAT! As a GM I thoroughly enjoyed the ease of running this one and the players got a huge deal of fun from the overall experience. I am a new comer to the Warhammer Fantasy world but an old hand at roleplaying in general as I have been running games from a variety of systems for over 30 years now.

I am rather sad to hear that FFG is no longer supporting the WFRP game, especially since I have just recently bought into it, but on that same note there appears to be enough material already produced to keep us all entertained for many years now.

I do think that the standards of this the 3rd edition of the game was so well done by FFG that it would be extremely difficult for another company to come along and take up the Warhammer license for a 4th edition. It would have to be extrordinary to compare to the 3rd edition version in my humble opinion. In comparison I would have to say it would be like Wizards of the Coast coming along and saying they are making a new version of D&D that is somehow going to be able to beat the standards set by Pathfinder. (Oh wait...I think they are going to try and do that with a D&D Next). Good luck with that.

Anyway, the point of this thread is to just state how great a game WFRP has on their hands with this system they have created and how much fun this old GM and his group of players had exploring the world so far. Can't wait to take it further!

  2. I can tell you from first hand experience that yes indeed you can. I have been the GM for several sessions with only one player. The way I handle this is I let the one player play 2 PC's and I include two NPC characters in the group. For experienced GM's this isn't too hard to handle but might be a bit daunting if your just learning to GM. In addition the single player needs to have a good bit of knowledge in roleplaying as it can also be a bit of a task to run two PC's instead of just one.

All that being said we have and continue to have a great gaming experience with just the two of us. So the answer is absolutely you can.

    That's a mistake.

The dice sold separately are another £12 on top. Ridiculous way to design a game. If they aren't in stock where the book is (which is entirely possible) you can't buy the book as the game will be unplayable. I do not own an iphone.

£40 for an incomplete game. A new low for FFG. Having to resort to a chart is hamfisted in the extreme.

That is a very strange argument about the dice not being included. I have played roleplaying games for some time and very few have included dice, most of those have been basic or beginner sets that have (Edge Beginner includes dice). Actually Fantasy Flight has presented numerous ways to get your hands on dice for the game in the Beta stages they included stickers, not long after they put out an app, they included them in the basic game, and now you can purchase them in a package. If you really want the dice you can get them.

  5. Hey I would recommend before you chunk down tons of money for the dice set due to the shipping cost in Brazil, maybe try thedice roller app that Fantasy Flight offers. Really cool graphics on there and you will have all the dice you could ever need for the game. Of course you may be like many of us on here and much prefer the rolling of real dice on your table as opposed to virtual ones but I was just trying to offer you a cheaper solution. Game on!!

  6. Meant to add the break down for the 3 full games played so far.  As stated earlier all were 4 player events.

Game 1 - Helo, Boomer, Baltar (Cylon), and Apollo. Result = Human victory

Game 2 - Tom Zarek (Cylon Sympathizer), Starbuck (Cylon), President Roslin, and Colonel Tigh. Result = Cylon victory

Game 3 - Tom Zarek, Commander Adama, Boomer (Cylon and Sympathizer), and Chief Tyrol. Result = Human victory

  7. Out of three games the tally now stands as follows:

1st game:  A three player game that was never finished we just used it to learn the rules and get a feel for the game.

2nd game:  A four player game with a narrow Human victory.  Characters used:  Helo, Boomer, Baltar (the Cylon), and Apollo.

3rd game:  A four player game with a huge Cylon victory.  Characters used:  Tom Zarek (Cylon sympathizer), Starbuck (the Cylon), President Roslin, and Tigh.

  8. First off I apologize if this has already been asked, but I have a question in regards to the sleeper agent part of the game.

In a recent game I pulled the sleeper agent card and as stated I revealed it immediately, turns out I was a Cylon sympathizer, I moved to the resurrection ship, I discarded down to 3 cards and then continued the game as normal.  My question is:  From this point on do I play my character as a revealed Cylon would from that point on with the exception that I do not get a Super Crisis card and I do pull Crisis Cards as normal?

Or do I pull skill cards as normal, play my character as normal, can be thrown in the Brig, can play skill cards as normal, cannot leave the Cylon area of the board?

I think the first is probably the way it should be played but not entirely sure since the rulebook states to ignore steps 4 and 5.  Anyone have some feedback on this?

  9. I can tell you from personal experience that out of the games I have played the best one so far was a four player game and I was the only one that was a fan or familiar with the show.  One of the other players even commented that he thought the game was more fun for them because they had no preconceived notions about the characters.  I think someones knowledge of the show can definately add to the fun of the game, but by the same token I do not think the lack of knowledge hinders it any either.

  10. I have only played twice so I can't add too much to the Cylon vs. Human victory count, but I can say that the Humans have won both times.  The last game it certainly was not for a lack of effort on the Cylon player, it just turned out that all the Humans really worked well together and just prior to the Cylon player deciding to reveal himself the final jump was made to Kobol and the game was won.

  11. I must say that my latest run of playing this wonderful game was AWESOME.  I have only played it twice counting last nights game and last night we actually were able to play through a whole session.  The paranoia was very intense and the game play was great, I will say that thanks to some good strategy on the part of the human players we were able to squeak out a win in the end, but just barely.  All resources were in the red by the end of the game and fuel was only at 1.  The Cylon player had not revealed himself but had done a pretty nice job of staying hidden and confounding our efforts.  Victory was ours however and this was just a most excellent gaming experience for everyone.
