Arrived today. Got home from the university and behold! In my mailbox was a paper slip! 5 days before my birthday even, great news!

Now, just remember that you can't open the package before Tuesday!

Hey all! So, I know a guy who runs a dice rolling website, and I got him to add EotE to it. Its simple, but hopefully you can all get some use out of it!
Format for rolling for EotE is as follows: XeY where X = the number of dice, and Y equals the first letter of the type of die, so A for Ability, P for Proficiency, so on and so forth.
Example: 3eA+1eP+3eD+2eS would roll 3 Ability, 1 Proficiency, 3 Difficulty, and 2 Setback.
It generates a number that represents the net number of Successes, so, if there's a positive number, you succeeded, if its a negative number, you didn't. Have to count Advantages/Threats/Triumph/Despair on your own though. However the Success/Fail aspect of Triumph/Despair IS already factored into the success count.
You can assign a character name and a Campaign name, and then the site will track all the rolls by campaign and character, so no ability to cheat either, and easy access to all past rolls.
Hope you guys enjoy and get some use out of it!
You can tell your friend that the toolbar at the top (I assume it's a toolbar) doesn't seem to work in Opera 12.02.

If I decide to go without Force powers, this could be a good alternate "my usual character type" option. Thanks.
With the risk of sounding crazy, you could also try to play something other than your usual character.

Why are everyone arguing with AluminiumWolf? We get it. He doesn't like RPGs. So, how about them lightsabers huh?

I've been reading it as "each success after the first." So for your example, the lightsaber hit would do 12 damage.
I've been reading it that way as well, but I couldn't help but notice that this (counting degrees of successes) was kinda awkward in Dark Heresy, and they 'fixed' it for Black Crusade, so it could go either way.

I am also currently of the opinion that it makes more sense that the Defensive Quality (present in weapons such as Gaffi Stick, Vibrosword and Lightsaber) should only applied to Melee Defense whereas the Deflection Quality (Lightsaber only) should cover the ranged defense.
I also don't believe that the ability to parry ranged weapons with a lightsaber is an inherent quality of the weapon, but has a lot more to do with the abilities of the wielder.

Thanks for the feedback folks.
Now that I have my rulebook to hand, I'll begin looking over it properly in preparation for my second Star Wars campaign, Dawn of Defiance II (an original storyline, not to be confused with the WotC supplement of the same name). Now I'm curious how you would answer those four questions.

This is why I always, always, go with UPS rather than USPS - the first is always great for keeping you up to date, where as the second is awful, and it's often delayed on being passed from USPS to ParcelFarce (typo intended).
I've never actually been able to get any packages from UPS. They don't deliver on weekends, and somehow they expect me to quit my job and sit around at home waiting for them. And if I miss a delivery, I have to call them up and arrange another delivery (again, middle of the day on a week day) or somehow find my way to a warehouse in the middle of nowhere to pick it up manually. I don't understand how you can run a business like that.
Sometimes online stores will ship stuff through UPS (or similar services) without letting you know in advance, and so far my only option when they do that is to just let UPS return the item to the sender, and find somewhere else to order it from.
The postal services can be all kinds of crap, but at least I always get my package eventually.

Aaaaanyway, *ahem* I think I got a bit sidetracked, there.

The only new lightsaber that appears during the trilogy is Lukes in ROTJ, though I'll grant the movie doesn't explain if he made it or bought it at the Mos Espa Walmart.
I distinctly remember Vader going "I see you picked up a new lightsaber at K-Mart" in RotJ. If Imperial Surplus Depot can sell 50 credit Star Destroyers (okay, so that was a clerical error) I don't see why they wouldn't stock jedi paraphernalia.

Anyone have any experience with this so far? (Maybe other customers in Canada?)My experience is that I could track my package as far as Chicago, from the USPS website. After that, I could track it from my local postal service's website using the same tracking number.
After I received the package here, I noticed that the USPS website had updated to display the full process.

Personally I am still waiting for TTRPGs to catch up with the current thinking in video games and have 'health' regenerate if you hide behind cover for a few seconds.
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
Maybe in the next Space Marine "roleplaying" game.

Except that Jay has already stated that it does effect it. Its a narrative system, so, if you're attacking a skilled fighter, you're going to get setback dice. And if you're attacking an exceptional fighter, or one who knows how you fight, you're stepping it up to 2 or more, likely.
But are there rules/guidelines for this? What is a "skilled fighter"? Are the PCs considered "skilled fighters" when attacked by NPCs? Or if fighting each other? Honestly, I kinda assumed that the reference to "skilled fighters" just meant the GM using Destiny Points on important NPCs, or an NPC having particular talents to make them tougher in a fight. Not randomly assigning setback dice because you feel this guy is good at parrying, but that guy with the same attribute/skill isn't.
But yes, this definitely needs further outlining if that's really the point.

After reading over the section on Ranked Talents, I'm actually inclined to defer to your judgment, KommisarK: it mentions that you can choose a talent more than once if it is listed multiple times; by extension, this suggests that you can't do the same if it's only listed once.
While I get the idea of ranked talents, I noticed a few situations where you can be "forced" to pick up a non-ranked talent a second time. I assume that this should just be considered an "xp tax" to get deeper into the talent tree (and that if you drop another specialization you still have this talent), but the rules probably should, if only briefly, touch on the situation. Even if it's just to say "tough luck"

Thanks again for the information. I'll check the tracking number with Parcelforce when I get home

Good luck!

Space Monkey said:
I assume I'd use the same tracking number when checking with Royal Mail / Parcel Force? Of not, how would I track a package that was originally collected by a different postal company?
It should be the same tracking number, yes.
If it turns out that it really has been sitting on an air strip in Chicago for five days, you might be able to contact FFG support and make them poke the USPS to see what's what.

Maybe a flat Willpower check with a Difficulty = 1 + # of Force Points generated? This way, it gives the target a chance to resist the effects of the power, but doesn't make it easy or automatic either.
Or perhaps allow a target take strain to resist a force effect? That would set the 'strong minded' apart, yet let the force power still have some effect when it is resisted, even if it's "just" 'strain damage'.

Yes, but the strongest Wookie should have an advantage in arm wrestling against the strongest human.
He does! The Wookie will flip out and kill you if he lose. That gotta be worth a few setback dice.

Mine was posted on the 22nd, and has (according to USPS tracking) been sat in Chacago since the 24th… beginning to wonder if I'll ever get the **** thing. Not impressed…
An international order, I assume? I had the same issue with the USPS tracking not updating after it was shipped out of the country (which is what happens in Chicago). Maybe you can track it through your local postal service.
(As an aside, the USPS tracking did eventually update to show the full process as well. Just slow I guess).

I will say this I finally got through to shipping and spoke to the shipping manager.
About and hour later a rep from FFG returned my call and said they were sorry my order slipped through the cracks and said they were sorry for giving me the go to "it should ship today" answer. They made sure they had my address correct, promised to throw in some extra star wars stuff for the extra long weight, and told me that it would most likely ship out tomorrow because of the late hour of the day we spoke on the phone.
I received my e-mail saying it was mailed out.
That's good customer service.
I ordered mine on the 21st. It was shipped on the 21st, and arrived yesterday. Now it's a toss between reading and working.

-
Yay! Got mine today, seven days after ordering it. Hooray!

While this is fringe focused, I'd like to see this as an opportunity to give some of the smaller Imperial warships some attention. While you're unlikely to run into an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, the Empire does have a presence out there, so maybe highlight some of their smaller patrol cruisers (like the Nebulon-B, which is thankfully in the game). Perhaps even a Victory-class Star Destroyer if you want to go crazy.
Also, I saw the list of ships in the book, but I forgot if it included the Corellian Corvette. I think those would make more sense than X-Wings and Star Destroyers.

Good old 'clackey' from the D20 Forums slippin' in over here. I really want to get my hands on this book, but the shipping to the UK is CRAZY high. Hoping my FLGS will order it.
Just shy of $120, everything included, getting the book to Denmark. Fortunately, I'm really dumb with my money.

I'll take an Obligation to the Emperor if I can start with a Nebulon-B.

Character Choice.

Truth be told, a gungan warrior would be pretty cool. Like a serious one, do the species some justice as it is a pretty cool species if you knock out Jar Jar.
I once had a player at my table who was of the same opinion, and sat out to prove just how cool gungans can be. By the end of that campaign, I was unable to take the entire species seriously. Not just Jar-Jar.
Long story.
