any2cards got a reaction from kbalazsa in Missing 12 heroes from Conversion Kit
I have remained silent within this thread, and many, many others, but I am so effing annoyed, I finally have to say something ...
@rugal, you come across so negative, it is stunning. If something is not YOUR idea, it is instantly bad. Your approach is similar to many bullies. When others provide their ideas, I cannot remember a single time your approach was anything but completely negative, shooting down their thought processes, etc. It wouldn't be so bad if you weren't completely destructive rather constructive with your criticism. I cannot ever imagine wanting to work with you on any collaborative effort, as if it doesn't end up being all about you, your thoughts, and ultimately your way, you would simply either slam all the ideas or give up and leave the effort.
Who appointed you G-d when it comes to D2e? Who anointed you the end all, be all authority when it comes to this, or any game for that matter?
I have found issues with MANY of your ideas, but rather than approach them with a negative attitude, I have always tried to be constructive, and if at all critical, tried to mitigate the impact of my words, and provide encouragement. If I couldn't find any way to do either, I simply said nothing. Much like I was taught to do growing up ...
You are the complete opposite.
I can provide hundreds of links with examples of your negativity, your destructive behavior, your complete self-absorbed, self-importance ...
Please do us all a favor and tone down your approach to things you don't like, or didn't think of first. People such as @ComtriS spend a lot of time investing in efforts to help the community ... your attitude can very likely make them give up, or simply stop sharing, and in both cases, we (that includes YOU) as a community lose. And if you think I am imaging this, you are very wrong. There are at least 3 community members whom I know, within this forum that used to share extensively, and stopped solely because of your poor attitude.
It is quite frankly why I don't share some of my work here. Perhaps I should have shared these feelings a long time ago, providing you feedback, so that things maybe would have improved. Perhaps that is my failing ... but your continuing destructive nature as a part of this community is one that I can no longer stand by, remain silent, and tolerate.

any2cards got a reaction from Gupa-nupa in How are People Feeling About Having to Buy Out of Faction for Upgrades?
I disagree. There is absolutely no reason why FFG couldn't plan to release a card pack at the same time as expansions, that include the cards that are out of faction. None what so ever. Not gonna ever happen, but it would be possible, and I think would be very lucrative as well.

175 $ is what you pay for KS games with 2-3 times the content shown here and with far more replayability than a measly 16 quest one and done campaign.

any2cards reacted to gksozae in BJZSN's Custom Classes
Before the link was broken, I was able to take take all of BJZSN's custom stuff and recreate it. Most of his classes are in this link (https://www.dropbox.com/s/skgwdfesqbhn8cs/Printing Directions and Card Links.pdf?dl=0). Some were modified slightly. Some not at all. Others were combined with ideas from other members of the community. Of note - my custom class amalgamations include my own creations as well as ideas from a variety of other members which were never fully realized in card form.
I've still got some of his classes in production and further playtesting and editing, but they'll all be there at some point.

any2cards reacted to Zaltyre in High mage Quellen's hero power
No, he is wrong. See the box titled, "Knocked out heroes" on the top right of rulebook page 15. It says,
Note the following key points:
"...hero players may ONLY target a KO hero with an ability that would allow the KO hero to recover damage..."
"...For this exception, the knocked out hero’s hero token is treated as a hero..."
Unless you're healing damage on that KO hero, it's just a token, not a hero.

any2cards reacted to Zaltyre in Can you walk through servants?
Yes, they are. If you check out the section on servants in either the Manor of Ravens or Chains that Rust rulebooks, you'll find,
"treated as a minion monster" specifies the figure classification, as minion monsters are also figures. Specifically, since they're monster figures, monsters can move through (but not end movement in) a servant space but heroes cannot.

any2cards reacted to Zaltyre in High mage Quellen's hero power
3b is correct, for the reasoning you guessed. Hero tokens aren't heroes UNLESS you're considering them heroes for the purpose of an ability which would heal them. For example, the disciple's "Prayer of Healing" could target a hero token. When a hero is knocked out, he's not on the map (his hero token is). Therefore, any abilities which depend on range from his figure don't apply (again, with the exception of abilities which would heal the hero token).

any2cards reacted to Charmy in Running my first campaign - Tips
I tend to have two ways of playing Descent, depending on who I'm playing with.
If I'm playing with competitive, strategically minded opponent(s), then I go all out. I wouldn't want my opponent to hold anything back, so I don't either. These games are like intense games of Chess with luck thrown in, and we min-max the heck out of our builds and quest choices. I've also rebalanced the game with my variant patches to introduce more variety so there are more strong choices of hero/class and overlord decks. The Lost Legends expansion in particular felt unplayable without the changes.
However, I find players who can play at that level are quite rare and I don't get the opportunity to play this way as often as I'd like, especially lately. This sometimes leaves me playing Solitaire against myself - strangely enough I think the game works this way too, albeit with diminished effectiveness on some aspects of the game, such as knowing the contents of the Overlord's hand.
The more common situation is where I want to introduce someone to the game, or I'm playing with someone with significantly less experience and a less competitive temperament. In that case, I take a completely different stance on the game. I focus on creating the most enjoyable situation possible for them - picking monster groups and powers based on whether they match some kind of common theme (e.g. playing Queen Ariad and then picking lots of spider open groups, and using a Trap focused Overlord deck.) I also 'role play' the monsters a bit, having them make sub-optimal decisions and allow them to be 'baited' by the heroes, into bad positions so they can use their abilities to the maximum effectiveness.
At first I thought players might be annoyed about me 'going easy on them', but this wasn't the case. They don't mind if things go really well for them or things are a little easier than they thought. And if I detect things are going a little too smoothly, I turn up the heat a bit. Just playing a little smarter than before throws them off, or just adding a strong card choice to the deck (e.g. adding either of the two Servants to the Overlord deck is an enormous boost in power on-demand for just 1XP) or picking a more overpowered monster group like Bandits or Kobolds for a quest or two is more than enough to make them sweat and get engaged again.
I also find players are thrilled when they pull off clutch victories. So sometimes I set up a situation where I 'almost' win, and then make a little mistake and give them an opportunity to get back into the game. I can tell from the long excited conversations after the session that they loved it.
Bottom line I think is that players really want to win. And this effect is compounded when they have to invest so much time to play a game of Descent when there are so many other activities craving their time and attention. So I let them win - most of the time - and I find they're much more likely to enjoy the game and back for more. As for me, I don't care if I lose when I'm focused on creating a fun time for my friends. And once in awhile I find someone who wants to dig deeper and play at a higher level (and doesn't mind losing) and I get an opportunity to play competitively again 😈 (usually ends up being a game of 2 players, with 1 player playing Overlord and the other player playing a full group of 4 heroes)

any2cards got a reaction from Budgernaut in New Descent product teased
Can't agree or like this post enough. I have had it with games I want to enjoy only coming out with co-op modes. My friends and I are highly competitive and enjoy 1 vs many far more. Unfortunately, co-op mode follows the path we have been going down for years in the US where we dumb everything down, everyone gets a participation trophy, and g-d forbid if someone's precious feelings get hurt ... or "GASP", if they lose ...

@AwesomeTree_in_the_Dark, not only did I have to wear my reading glasses (as normal) to read anything on this site, I had to get my magnifying app on my phone running just to read this last sentence !
Given that @Sadgit's Sands of the Past is already supported, I guess there is no reason that I couldn't also support your efforts. If you can provide high resolution digital assets of Maze of the Drakon, I will work on getting it added.
