  1. The box set filled many of Starks big holes, making them better, but not broken.

    1. In house attachment control.

    2. In house location control.

    3. In house Intrigue icons.

    4. In house Draw.

    5. In House limited Rush.

    6. Challenge-phase Targeted kill.

    7. Winter effects without the gold penalty.

None of these are overwhelming in and of themselves, but in the right combination it could make them competetive in Joust.

  2. Wow! 20 Participants is a great turn out. THanks for the Preliminary TR and I can't wait to see the full TR and pics.

Congratulations on your 4th place finish. Sounds like a good deck that you played extremely well. Playing the same deck for a long time really helps at larger events. Glad to see Stark continue to do well in Europe. I'm guessing the new boxset wasn't legal for his event?

  3. Staton, that's pretty much everyone's standard Bara rush. If you get a good flop, you can roll. If you don't,  your hosed after turn 3. My first LCG deck was bara/summer so I am well aware of its capabilities. I would worry more about Lanni hyper kneel and Targ burn than Lanni shadows. BTW, who was playing Lannister shadows when you were beating them consistently?

While Lannister has means to continue playing threats to the board thanks to their draw and gold production, they are notoriously light on means to keep those threats in play. Gilded Plate is the only in house save that I can recall, and I think most of us can agree that it's really not that great. Still, it's playable and Power of Blood will keep your nobles alive but between power non-uniques and the popularity of Shadows builds, competitive Lannister decks are driven away from using it. While Bodyguard is still quite useful in Lannister,

I was thinking the other day that Lanni could use the guy from the Valyrian Premium Starter that acted as a save. Might add a little diversity to the house.

  5. I'm more worried about neutral 4 strength CBK characters returning to the environment than I am about him benefiting from my opponents agendas. Too many CBK NPE's from Winter block. Hopefully this doesn't signal an influx of CBK into the LCG environment.

  6. So are there a hierarchy of keywords? Renown before deadly so that you gain the keyword? Is there a list of this order? It seemed to me that you would have to have deadly before the resolution of the challenge in order for it to take effect. Is there some precedence that decides this? I'm not trying to be an as about this, I just don't understand why it works the way you decided.

I wouldn't.  I'm not a fan of the house specific keywords that we have.  I think the houses can given their own unique abilities/etc wihout going the house specific keyword route.

I have to agree on this one. I'm in the process of teaching my Dad how to play, and he has enough issues with the game as it is. I think they were tolerable in CCG, but LCG doesn't really need them. Just make it a normal character/card ability for the half dozen cards with the house specific key words.

This (and most of the other reasons I'm reading in this thread about why things don't work) is just more of the East Coast knowing exactly what does and doesn't work and knows the exact decklist of every player because its soooooooo obvious what are the best 60 cards for a house.

Where did that come from? Obviously various metas play the game somewhat differently, but in a thread where we were just concerned about the tone used towards Kennon, this seems really out of place.

~And personally, I never voted for Bloodycelt or Lars to represent the East Coast.gui%C3%B1o.gif I would say Dan or Erick have earned that right recently.

  9. Thanks Erick for a well run event. Everything went smoothly and ahead of schedule. I had fun and thanks to some good luck, I left with the only swag I really wanted. It was nice to meet and play against Rob and the the lesser known members of the DC meta and a pleasant reunion with the greater East Coast meta. Lookin forward to NY even more now.

I ran Greyjoy/Winter, and my only 2 losses were Stark/Summer and Lannister/Shadows, both played by better players. Congrats to the winners, especially Alec for his first top 4 finish at a Regional event!

Event is coming up in 3.5 days, and I still can't figure out which deck to play. This should be a good tournament though...good competition (and a regionals champion to dethrone).

Also, I'm surprised there's no trash talking here yet. (~Erick, that's your cue to chime in )

Same problem here. It's still a few weeks away, but I haven't decided which of two decks I've been playing off and on I will use for the 'Moot. And if the Stark expansion drops in time, oh boy, than I'm really going to be in a turmoil about what deck to use.

When the Stark expansion drops, it will be an easy decision for me. The question is what to play until then?
