You probably haven't used him in Hoth, a campaign where you don't need to rush objectives. Killing everything on the map with 3 characters and healing them all the time is a very valid strategy there.

Why not? There are a lot of cases where bounty hunters work together, even with some form of military behind them. I can easily see Cad Bane or Hondo with a bunch of Weequay pirates. Jabba also had a small army behind him. Scum have more vehicle variety than rebels, and probably even empire for the legion scale.

I honestly feel really dirty for not posting this in the Legends of the Alliance sub-forum, but I didn't think it'd get as much visibility there, and thought maybe people not interested in the app at all might enjoy this.
It took me roughly a week to create. I'm still trying to decide if I should be proud of this or not...

Could be the other heroes they are using. Shyla gets anyone closer that tries to get away, Vinto shoots and kills bystanders and Jyn always has a target first activation. They also always bring the echo base troopers which are not bad at all for 6 thread. Anyway, different play-styles, heroes, XP spending and open groups probably have a lot to do with making a campaign harder or easier.

My players tend to clear most of the imperial units round one. Lots of damage dealers and not that many places to hide. So mortar is harder to use for me probable.
They tend to stay within two spaces of MHD. The droid is usually healing a damage and a strain from everyone, and probably 8 damage from a certain hero each turn. If I don't wound someone and MHD goes before I can finish him (e.g. new round starts), then the hero is back fully healed.  MHD hasn't attacked in 5 games in my campaign, focusing on healing.

Mortar is very good, yes. But I'm not sure what the tons of deployment groups have to do with it?
Anyway, my player must be playing MHD differently. He's healing all the time and it's been very hard for me to wound heroes. And it's not like mortar does much to help here, maybe giving 2 damage to 2 heroes each round. MHD heals that without any problems.

No, simply used it on the primed trooper (after painting the black parts). Did use testor dullcote afterwards as I do for all my miniatures. Not sure how they would look when using a glossy varnish.

Took a quick picture of some Imperial assault troopers painted this way. I know they are not going to win any painting prizes. But they don't take a lot of time to do at all (quicker than from the youtube video) and are decent enough to play with (imho). On top of that, any one can paint them to this level as there is almost no work involved.

I also wonder what you might learn when using cheaper paints. They are more frustrating to work with and the results will be worse. I'm certain starting painters would be better of with less colors, but easier to work with and getting better results. Otherwise they might just end up being frustrated. Is paying 40 bucks for 12 colors that bad if you have quality products? Would you rather pay 40 bucks for 48 different colors (and using only 40% of them of the first number of minis) and have crappy results? If my first miniatures would look like crap after hours of work, I know I would stop painting right away, making that 40 bucks investment a terrible idea.

I want to throw my opinion in here as well.  The cheap paints are great for painting terrain.  They are terrible for painting miniatures.  On a mini, you'll find it very, very difficult to get a smooth finish using cheap paint.  You're absolutely better off getting a "starter kit" with basic colors from one of the various manufacturers.  Most of the basic colors can be mixed.  Need an orange?  Buy one OR just mix red and yellow from your starter kit.  Etc, etc.
$33 - Games Workshop - comes with 12 small paints, a decent brush, some clippers and super glue. https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Age-of-Sigmar-Citadel-Essentials-Set-USA $30 - Army Painter - comes with 10 normal sized paints and a decent detail brush https://shop.thearmypainter.com/products.php?ProductGroupId=16#Warpaints Starter Paint Set $50 - Vallejo - comes with 16 normal sized paints https://www.amazon.com/Game-Color-Intro-Set-16/dp/B000PHCTRK/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1519219469&sr=8-6&keywords=vallejo+paint+set Of the above, I'd be most likely to recommend the Army Painter kit.  The GW kit comes with half size paints, making it the most expensive kit per pot.  The Vallejo kit is the better kit, but $50 is high for a starter kit.  The Army Painter kit has a good assortment of paints, including a wash and comes with a "free" brush.
A craftsmen is only as good as his tools.  Get a decent brush and decent paints and you're in a position to learn how to paint decent looking minis.  Get craft paints and cheap brushes and your models will look bad.

Yes, as long as you realise your sup-par results is probably caused by sup-par paints.
Paints consist of two parts, the pigment, which is the colour part and the medium which is used to move the pigment from the bottle to the brush and onto your surface. More often than not the pigment is cheep, and the medium is not only cheep but designed to hold texture. So brush strokes are not going to go away and it will cover details.
What you should be learning is the consistency to water the paints and how to use a brush. You'll be surprised at how much easier it gets with some good paint.
