  1. If you use the optional rule in the rulebook which allows you to evade any unfriendly creature, you have the option to evade the Hag with a Spell or special ability. If not, you must take the Hag as a Follower. Your other Followers must immediately be discarded. The optional special ability of the Vampiress to drain the life force from a Follower cannot be used before taking the Hag as a Follower. Ell. Ps. If you want clarification on this and whether or not the Vampiress can eat the Hag, please contact John Goodenough for the definitive answer!
  2. You draw just enough Spells to take your Spells to your full compliment, so in your example you would only draw 1 Spell. Ell.
  3. Even though the Lightning Bolt Spell may be cast at any time, it would not prevent that character from rolling a die in battle or psychic combat, as it is not that character's turn. I would suggest only casting a Lightning Bolt Spell during a character's turn! Ell.
  4. Mr New would need to be some sort of holy man, perhaps a Friar! Ok Jon, I know its an old joke, but must keep it going! Ell.
  5. Correct. You cannot cast Healing on yourself or another character if the target already has his full life value! Ell.
  6. The Vampiress must immediately discard all of her Followers and take the Hag. She cannot use her ability to drain the life force from her Followers. The forbidding effect of the Hag overrides the Vampiresses special ability. Ell.
  7. Yep, totally uninspired by Ravenloft. No contest against Dungeonquest, especially when expansions for DQ kick in! Ell.
  8. It's tied to alignment, strength, craft, special abilities, and character type. The alignment is the first thing to take into account! Ell.
  9. Super cool, can't wait. I so wish I was coming with you to Gen Con! Ell.
  10. The player with the Mesmerism Spell must forfeit a life, if he takes the Familiar from another character. If he is not willing to sacrifice a life, he cannot cast the Mesmerism Spell on the Familiar! Ell.
  11. That's enough of that you two! No flaming is permitted on these forums. Stick to valid points please and no personal attacks. Ell.
  12. Well if you still have the 1st edition you will have black and white adventure cards! The Wand allows you to have one more Spell than you started the game with, and the Command Spell only targets one player!!! Ell.
  13. If a player wishes to cast a Spell at the start of another character's turn, he must do so at the very start of that character's turn. A character always has the option to react to the Spell being cast at him, either by casting a Counterspell or Reflection Spell. Ell.
  14. You roll the die again and move away normally! Ell.

Because say your char wins a battle, I cast Preservation on the Enemy you fought, combat ends and is considered a stand-off. I meant a Spell cast on a Character that forces him to a stand-off, whatever the result. Of course Preservation (and Resurrection) work on beaten Enemies and change the victory to a stand-off. Basically there are not many Spells that force a specific die result or outcomes, except Twist of Fate that still requires to use Fate and does not act on others. Not at the moment, no! Ell.

Many other characters have powers against characters only, but nothing is so evident to me as the Thief. Most of his power comes from PvP. So, if you don't steal with the Thief (which I won't, cuz, well, I hate PvP, so I practise what I preach and I avoid characters like the plague, even when I have the upper hand, well, except for the one CoC rusher PLAYER, not character, in our group, but we all descend on her like barracudas, long story), you're left with getting the odd item off the Village, and that cuts his power by 2/3. The less the power of the character has to do with PvP, the more I like it. (Sidebar = This thread is about LEAST but Elf is definitely Top-3 that I like the most, likely for the same reason people hate him. I go on a Woods and we're done. You can't attack me, steal from me, mesmerise my followers, etc... or do 85% of the PvP stuff against me. You can only do spells. I get the Amulet, and I'm finally at ease. I can do my thing. You do yours. I don't bother you. You don't bother me. And there's nothing you can do about it. You'll still win the game cuz I rarely if ever do the CoC thing, I just like the gameplay. But I don't go for the "You're big. I'm small. I get beat on for your entertainment." kind of play. Did I mention I hate PvP? Heh) You better not play against me then! Player v Player is always on my agenda (I may as well be an evil character all the time). My gf keeps telling me off for turning her into a Toad, because I only do it to her and not any other players. She deserves all she gets. Talisman is the only place where I can be nasty to her!!! Ell.
  18. Balderdash! I have won with the Sprite on many, many occasions. We played with the Sprite during the playtest phase and during 2nd ed days. She has always done very well. If you are an expert at using Spells and when to cast them, you will be surprised at how good she is!!! Ell.
  19. Sorry will be tomorrow sometime! Just a quick look in today! Ell.
  20. Love the post Tons. Babylon 5 superb. So was Crusade even though it was cut short. I always go for a quick win like Dam. PvP was designed for me too! However if you like long game adventures, come online one Sunday and play a world game with some of us. Minimum 4 hour games up to 6 hours! Ell.
  21. Victor71 said: Here are some questions that came up in last night's game. The rules lawyer in our game likes things verified when it comes to certain rules. 1) When a character roles on the table for the Grim Reaper and the result rolled is a one is there any way to avoid him killing you? Our Dark Cultist thought that she could avoid the killing by casting a healing spell to restore all the lives because it states "It is Time. Lose all Lives, you are killed" 2) This has to do with a Follower adventure card from the Reaper Expansion. Familiar, Card states "The familiar will become your follower if you lose 1 life. Add 2 to your craft. Whenever you draw a spell that you do not wish to keep, you may discard it and draw another one to replace it, which you must keep." Now the Vampiress (Rules Lawyer) says that when he takes that follower, he does not have to pay for that life to take it, because it was already paid when it first came into play from it being drawn. He should have to pay the life because of the first line of text on the card. 3) Same Vampiress states that he could take a follower from a character and encounter the space he lands on, instead of having to encounter the character. Should he have to encounter the charcter instead of the space to take the Follower? 4)Again, Same Vampiress, the Monk Character attacked the Vampiress with her having only 1 life left, she lost the battle. This would have killed her, but he says that he could kill off one of his followers and still be alive with 1 life. But, the Vampiress card states "During your turn, you may drain the life force from any of your followers. Discard the chosen Followers and gain 1 life for each." So could she gain life's even though it was not her turn? Please, someone help me to answer these questions. I tried to look for the answers on the forum, but could not find any. Fred Victor 1) Only way to avoid a roll of 1 on the Reaper is to pay fate! 2) The Vampiress must still lose 1 life when taking the Familiar off of another player. 3) No. If the Vampiress takes a Follower from a character, he cannot encounter the space, as he has encountered a player on the space. 4) No. The Vampiress may only do this during her own turn. Ell.
  22. Battle Royale answer coming soon. Its bedtime here. Will post it tomorrow sometime. Yes know the answer, but kids with me now. Ell.
  23. The_Warlock said: Again on this Spell. Q: Can a Character cast the Path of Destiny Spell against a Character with the False Grail? If yes, how should this be handled? Yes. A character with the False Grail may not voluntarily accept a quest. However he may be forced to accept a quest by another character! Ell.
  24. Rimmer said: If there are any followers in the Cell, I take one from there. But do I have to leave there one of mine too? No, not if you take a Follower from the Cell. Ell.
