Grim Reaper in the chapel???
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to Nighthawk604's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
Of course the Reaper can enter the Chapel. Only place he can't go is in the Inner Region! Ell. -
Question: Hungering Artefact/Triumphant Daybreak.
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to adjogi's topic in Talisman
Lunar events are placed next to the Time card!!! Read the Blood Moon Rulesheet! Other Event cards are left on the space if they remain in effect. See the FAQ. If your question had been the Blizzard instead, the Hungering Artefact (if you take it) would have removed the Blizzard thereby removing the Blizzards effect! -

Yes unless it's wrong and it's a bug or an oversight! Ell. -
Dragon Scales and Inner Region
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to The Hunter's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
Yes. If a Draconic Lord acquires 3 scales in this situation, he is still crowned as the Dragon King but all 3 scales are discarded! -
Magical Vortex and Enchant Blade
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to artphobia's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
Magical Vortex absorbs all Spells from a Player's hand, not Spells belonging to Objects or Followers! A weapon retains the Enchant Blade Spell even if ditched or another player takes it from you. Ell. -
You will for sure! Ell.

There is bound to be another Talisman Expansion - the 4th corner board for one! Ell.

Horses in the Dungeon

I love 2nd edition too, but seriously some things had to change! We do not forbid anything in the Dungeon... Ell. -
You may look at them! Ell.

Tinkerer - Taking a Construct as a follower
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to NullPlayer's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
Now I understand what you were asking! If the Tinkerer takes a Construct as a Follower, it can only be discarded to replace Adventure Cards as in the last part of the second special ability; it cannot be used in battle or psychic combat. The FAQ informs players that card types that do not have the 'Follower' keyword cannot be voluntarily ditched, nor can they be taken by another players ability. It doesn't mean that the Tinkerers automated Followers fight with him! Ell. -
Tinkerer - Taking a Construct as a follower
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to NullPlayer's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
I'm afraid you are wrong. If the Tinkerer turns an Object into an automated Follower, it does not fight for him!!! Ell. -
I believe the Holy Avenger only ascends to the discard pile when the character defeats an evil character (you would only avenge an evil player if you were to vanquish him). Unfortunately the card can be read either way. I would have placed a semi-colon between the last two sentences and made it just one sentence! I would suggest you send the question to John Goodenough! Can a toad carry items or gold?
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to Karathi's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
The words Objects & Followers are not on the bottom of the Toad Cards. If they were, it would mean a Toad could carry them. However as it is not on the card, a Toad cannot take these items. -
Merchant's guild ending card and Generosity
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to frogemoth's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
You shouldn't have got any gold! The Hydra Spell means that the player who cast Generosity can target the spell against any other characters as though he cast it individually on each player. The only caveat is that you decide which other players are affected. If you decide to target the player who cast the Spell, he is not affected by it (he cannot give his gold to himself!). For the Hydra Spell to be effective, you would need both the Generosity Spell and Hydra Spell in your spell pile. In your example, player A would get 10 gold from player B. You as player C wouldn't cast the Hydra Spell, as it wouldn't affect player A and you most certainly would not target yourself with the Hydra Spell. The best use of the Hydra Spell, is when you cast a spell on another player and immediately follow it up with the Hydra Spell! Ell. -
Multiple event cards/Missing Turns
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to The Hunter's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
The missed turn takes effect immediately as per the rulebook! Prophesy is not activated until a player encounters the card again. Ell. -
The Reaper expansion is the first choice, followed by the Highlands for your hoarding and topped off with the City to spend your gold! Blood Moon is my 2nd fave small box expansion and Sacred Pool my 3rd. Ell.

Light fate & Dark fate - I hope it's introduced in the next expansion! Ell.

Black Ice on the Portal of Power
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to Wes Falls's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
Nothing, as the player is not landing on the Portal! Ell. -
Yes that is correct. This includes casting Spells from other sources as well, such as the Genie or Spellstone. Only 1 Spell during another characters turn! Ell.

Restoration spell vs the Reaper
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to drweavil's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
I'm afraid you can't use the Restoration Spell to prevent the Reaper from killing you. You may only use the Spell to prevent the loss of 1 life, so you could use it to save 1 life from the Finger of Death but not when a card says lose all lives or you are killed! Ell. -
Toadify VS Invisibility
Toothless_Night_Fury replied to Fistmonkey's topic in Talisman Rules Questions
Fistmonkey said: My friends and I play Talisman all the time. We're highschoolers, and since it's summer, it's Talisman all the time, every night. Naturally, three testosterone addled, confrontational boys have all sorts of disputes over some more of the ambiguous rules in the game, such as, the order of spell operations. My friend and I engaged in combat, and I casted Toadify. In an attempt to avoid this, he then casted Invisibility. I argued that Toadify took precedence, so I rolled for the spell despite him and got a 4, which turned him into a toad. He argued that Invisibility avoids negates the encounter entirely. His point goes on to say that, since I hadn't rolled the die for the spell yet, Toadify was negated because he was invisible, ala, my character couldn't cast on a target he couldn't see. I believe Toadify was the first spell cast, so the effects of the die roll happen before the effects of Invisibility. He believes Toadify was negated. Help us, please, who is right here? Battle between two characters 1. Evade The character being attacked first has the opportunity to evade. If he chooses not to, or is not successful, then battle takes place. 2. Cast Spells Both characters have the opportunity to cast Spells before the dice can be rolled. Any effects or abilities that affect a character’s Strength or Craft must be implemented before the attack roll is made. Step 1 is when Invisibility has to be cast. The player has to be given the opportunity to cast Invisibility. If he casts it, he evades you and your turn ends. If not, move to step 2. This is where Toadify has to be cast. If the player does not cast Invisibility during step 1, he cannot cast it during step 2 & he cannot evade you! Ell.
