These two auctions are on E-bay and was wondering if people are using other ships to play X-Wing?  Early on I saw several posts with people gathering massive fleets of other ships, but nor sure how common this is.  So far my group has only used the actual FFG models as any battle over 100pt per side seems to become a bit cumbersome with the game mechanics and time.

Rebels:

Imperials:

Other than the Tie Advanced I do not think I would be happy with the Imperials, but some of the Rebel ships look really close especially the A-Wing and Y-Wing.  The battle damage ones actaully look pretty cool.

Does anyone know if these are Micromachines or are currently using them?

I currrently have 4 of each FFG fighter in my collection, so no real need here, but if someone is looking to do large battles these seem like they would be cheap subsitutes especially sine the FFG ships have been hard to find in stock.

Just curious what others think?

Other ships can be fun. If you are playing a fun game it can be cool playing with them. I'm playing with the wave 3 cards now just to learn them.

We use a Hallmark Lambda Shuttle and Hasbro CR-90.  Other than that, all FFG for the fighters.

I've got a bunch of different ones on hand and love them!  Currently working on a handful of conversions from the AMT/ERTL Falcon and nearing completion on a YT-1000, YT-1200, and Nove Drive Z-3 for a well diversified parcel of Outer Rim smugglers ^,^

For friendly games and with the consent of my opponent sometimes I'll proxy other cards I own but not enough of them.

I haven't proxied the wave 3 ships yet. Maybe waiting for the suspense?

I'm wary to Proxy ships that haven't been announced yet, mostly because I don't want to be caught oddly flat-footed when the official releases override the fan-created ones. The only custom fan-made ship I'm looking to Proxy perhaps is the Missile Boat, because I think that's the least likeliest fighter out of TIE Fighter to see the light of play. I also dream someday of doing TIE Defender designs more akin to their game-model counterparts and call them Prototype TIE Defenders, making them different from the inevitable official release.
