Hey everybody

i have a question regarding the extra stuff for the standard kit with the 30 points.

in the bottom you can buy the favored weapons, I believe that  this dosnt make the favored weapon into the main weapon. But rather gives the squad a single weapon to use between its members and not that each member gets one.

Am I right or wrong cause I am kinda unsure about it?

The M36 Lasgun of course..

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must kill him before he kills me. I will…

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, or the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit…

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights, its barrel and its machien spirit. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will…

Before the God Emperor, I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of the Imperium. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is the Imperium's and there is no enemy, but peace!

You're wrong about that.

Basically, what purchasing the "add one Favoured [Basic/Heavy] Weapon" option allows is to purchase an additional weapon as a Favoured Weapon, so that you have one additional Favoured Weapon of whatever type in addition to the one Favoured Basic Weapon and one Favoured Heavy Weapon your regiment starts off with.

Basically, it means the Heavy Weapon specialty or Weapon Specialist can pick it as starting equipment, and everyone gets a +10 on the Logistics test for the weapon itself and its ammo.

This was clarified by FFG in a similar thread about Favoured Weapons about a month ago or so, so no wonder you didn't see the thread (if you looked for one).

Are you certain? It really seems like this option would add the favored weapon to the SRK (since everything else in the entire table does that). e.g. the players choose bolter as their favored basic and can pay 10 SRK points to have that added to their SRK. i.e. each member of the squad gets their lasgun, -pistol, or -carbine AND the bolter.

I appreciate you posting this, but it raises more questions for me. The FFG rep says "The intention is that the player can use their Additional Standard Kit points to add additional weapons (one Basic and one Heavy) to be Favoured Weapon for the Regiment…"

I was under the impresion that the players, together, chose how to spend their 30 points on their SRK. It is Standard, after all. It did not seem like a way for each character to customize their loadout, but a way to further customize the regiment.

So, in the scenario presented by the FFG rep, one player spends half "their" SRK points to add a favored weapon for everyone, seems like a rather short-ended stick for the single player who does it.

I understand spending SRK to give the squad one favored weapon (sort of) and I think giving everyone a bolter for only 10 points is a bit cheap, but I'm pretty stumped about how the rules are supposed to actually work.

Not at all.

Okay so set the scene - you are part of a group of players in a regiment. You have picked 1 basic and 1 heavy weapon as your favoured weapon, and these have twofold benefit:

1) The weapon specialists and heavy gunner in your squad can begin play with the favoured basic and heavy weapons respectively, thus giving some extra oomph to your starting squad.

2) ANYONE in your squad can then requisition these favoured weapons more easily, as they have a +10 bonus to any logistics tests. Remember that anyone can get hold of anything - you are not limited by class starting gear, and so you could ALL end up with plasma guns and autocannons if you wanted.

By choosing to spend regiment points on extra favoured weapons you are giving your regiment a higher focus on high powered, specialist weapons. This means that if you have multiple weapon specialists or heavy gunners in your unit they can begin with different heavy weapons of their choosing. It also means that you can have much more varied, or balanced tactics (not as simple as flamers vs infantry and missiles vs tanks, you can then also chuck in plasma vs heavy infantry, or mortars vs entrenched enemies.

What you say makes sense, but would the cost for the additional favoured weapon come out of the 30 SRK for the whole group or is it just 1 player's? The FFG rep made it sound, very explicitly, like it was one players.

Now, I understand there are many benefits to having additional weapon options, but you might be better off spending the points to just add the item to the kit. Regardless, that's what I though the intent was. Spend less SRK points than normal to add an item to everyone's SRK, because it's the favoured weapon.

I feel like the SRK points is not a good place to add a favoured weapon to the regiment (not the SRK). It should be part of the 12 regiment creation points.

The 30 points are only for the whole group, each player doesn't get to chose different stuff. So yea, it'd come from the communal pool of 30 points, because that's the only pool of points it can come from.

Indeed - the whole group of players and Gm go through regiment creation and spend the 12 points. They then spend 30 points (though it varies depending on which homeworld they chose and if they had leftovers from the 12 points) on kit. This is a group decision and effects everyone (yes even adding a single medkit or auspex to the unit effects everyone as they all benefit from it, just the same with favoured weapons).
