When using the psychic power Protean Form, it triggers psychic phenomena each turn the power is sustained, re-rolling results of 75 or higher, but says the 'second results stand.'  Does this mean that it's possible to trigger Perils off of the power's unique psychic phenomena? (Less than a 7% chance, about)

It only triggers psychic phenomena IF the original activation roll caused psychic phenomena (by either rolling doubles or being pushed), to begin with.

But yes, if you roll perils both times and your psychic for some reason lacks any ability that lets him modify it, such as favored of the warp, you can cause Perils.

So, if you for some reason feel the burning need to sustain a protean form activation that triggered psychic phenomena, Rez is your best friend.

Thanks!  It does seem like constant Psychic Phenomena would be a good way to balance what is otherwise a totally off-the-heezy power, though.

I'd recommend not sustaning a Protean Form which causes phenomena, myself. It will most likely end in your (and possibly) others' death somewhere within 10 rounds.

I don't understand where are you getting the ruling that it only triggers Psychic Phenomena if the original activation caused it, since the psychic power very excplicitly states that "Psychic phenomena: The constant stream of warp energy pouring through the Sorcerer's body causes ripples in reality that cannot easily be contained. At the start of the Sorcerer's turn, every turn this power remains in effect, Roll on Table 6-2: Psychic Phenomena and apply the result immediately, re-rolling results of 75 or higher. The second results stand." Since there is nothing in the errata about the power I think the ruling is very clear in this respect.

In addition, if we are reading the rules very carefully, Favoured By The Warp wouldn't help you in this case since it only helps "Whenever a power roll results in Psychic Phenomena" and since sustaining isn't a power roll it wouldn't kick into effect in this situation, RAW burla

I'm thinking that the 'this is in addtion to any normal psychic phenomena' at the end of some powers is what means you get that phenomena automatically and then could get others.  If it doesn't say that, I guess it's a replacement effect?  Some clarification would be nice, I guess.

It's a Corruption power, which are special in that they cause an additional Psychic Phenomena when a Focus Power Test causes Psychic Phenomena (either unfettered doubles or pushing [not counting various powers with effects that changes the phenomena occurance]).

So in the specific case of Protean Form, it's like this: *Unfettered Focus Power Test to activate Protean Form* -> Rolling doubles -> trigger Psychic Phenomena -> roll once on the table (twice as normal if you've got favoured by the warp) + roll another phenomena as per the power write-up due to additional effect from the Corruption phenomena (favoured by the warp applies here too) -> apply both. Every round after that the power is sustained trigger new phenomena (favoured by the warp applies here too) as per the power writeup.

By pushing the additional corruption phenomena is just automatic, which is the reason it's preferable to not push that particular power.
