I was eagerly awaiting this game since the first announcement! Been looking to buy into D1E 3 years ago but saw how expensive it would quickly get so I kept away from it (i'm a damn completionist who buys expansions before even playing the base game once…).

Last Christmas my brother gifted me D2E! Really cool since he too was looking forward to play this game!

We played the Intro quest, 1 full quest and 1 half of a quest (1 encounter)…and then didn't play at all.  Why? I was asking myself the same question since february 2012.  We both tried the game at the Demo with 5 players in one of LGS.  It was really awesome.  We had a lot of fun discussing strategies with the other players.

Now with only 2 players…there's not much "strategyzing" to be done…

I can already foresee the "Then get more players aroundthe table with you" answers but that's the problem…of my limited gaming friends, 1 is mostly in Euros and 2 others are working at nights so they can't play…so my only option would be to find some new "gaming buddies" around but it's not that easy…so it's me and the bro…

Please guys, help me with some tricks to make this game as good as with other players! :)

Wish I could help you out there, but I agree the game is boring with just two players, personally.  Is there a reason you can't go fishing for gamers at that LGS where you played the demo?

I've played it within a group 5 and 3 and yes it was good fun but because of people work life's and family life it turn to just me and one other friend. we still enjoy playing the game. my other friends still want to play the game but with the little time we all now get at the same time, we're finishing off one of the other games were playing.

I've played many 2 player games that, while not filled with the comaraderie and strategy suggestions found with more players, were still fun and challenging. My trick is that I play all four heroes. This keeps my head in the game by having to learn/use all of their different abilites.  Another thing that keeps it fresh is randomly picking heroes so it's not the same run repeatedly.

I play two-player, my best friend as Overlord, and I choose two heroes.  I didn't select a good set of heroes, though.  They didn't have enough damage-dealing capability.  I want to start over using a Melee combatant and the Ranger combatant (I think her first name was "Jain.")  My best friend told me tonight that there are also Heroes that can heal.  A problem I had experienced was that my chosen Heroes would be Knocked Out of the game and would Stand Up with very limited Health.

It comes down to tastes and colours. Two player game is not boring, and the tactical problems are the same as if different players manage the heroes. The only difference is that there is no debate between the players on the heroe's side. But there are no such debates on the OL side, anyway. Now, 1 vs 1 games exist and are far from being boring - at least for those who like them. I don't quite see how I could help you in the present case.

I managed to find another player (my cousin) who loves those kind of games.

We're starting a new campaign this saturday and if all goes well we'll probably play all pm/evening…i'd like to complete Act 1 + the Interlude that day…could be fun!

Played for 12 hours today with 3 players.  Hero players controlling 2 Heroes each!

Damn pure epic day I tell you.  We completed 5 quests in total: Intro, the 3 Act 1 Quests and 1 Rumor Quest!

We're now at the Interlude and we'll resume our campaign as soon as possible!

Great game!
