I played more than 7 times, but the introdutory adventure provides no challenge to the heroes players (in 2 hero adventure). because he can't run, for gain time, and in 2 heroes the overlord don't have many goblins for gain fast. We all jump time the introdutory adventure, -1 quest for the campain. I think if the ettin was trow abilit  the overlord can win.

One questin that are not in the rules is about reach abilit. if the ettin use reach in atack, do he need do line of vision??? or can he atack from behind of another monsters a hero in front of that monster??

some one was a little varriant or tip for the first blood quest vs 2 heroes.

I've seen the heroes once lose 2-hero First Blood, but they were rolling Xs like candy. Whole point of that quest really for the OL is to make the heroes kill Mauler before they can get all the Search tokens cleared.

As for Reach:

"The Reach keyword allows the figure to use a Melee attack to target a
figure up to two spaces away, rather than only adjacent spaces. The target
still needs to be in line of sight." (p. 13)

well, i guess it did require a bit of luck for overlord to win in first encounter, i played a few time myself, so far i did win it once. only because the hero want to go for the treasure first and ignore the first couple goblins, then i have both "dash" card in my hand. of of course it also require couple misses from the hero.

but then again, winning or losing the first round doesn't really matter. so from now on we just did it until the her search all the treasure and move on to the next stage.

when there are players new to the game, it is a great first quest.  But if you are with veterans,  just shuffle the treasure deck, deal one to each hero and save yourself the setup and take down time and give everyone +1 xp and start Act 1-1.

With that said, I've been the OL many times and have yet to win but I've gotten very close a few times and have knocked out a hero or two with the ettins (4 hero game).  The red goblin archer has 4 hps and sometimes will get lucky with a miss or two and can scamper through the lines.  I got up to 4 fatigue tokens but could never get the fifth.  It's like running a gauntlet or watching one of those tv episodes where people are on these adult sized mega-gyms and walk through doorways and get hit with big foam hammers trying to knock them into the water.  That is what it is like to get a goblin archer through to the other side….

Though if running a second or third campaign with the same players, picking the first real Act 1 quest could have huge benefits, so you still want to try and win FB.

my daughter has beaten my party of heroes 3 times on first blood.  she focus fires 1 down using Mauler to seperate the 2 heroes and normally dashes at least 1 gobby thru.  course each time i have been playing a different 2 chrs

now i have won a few as well as the heroes, 2 i think. but it does seem to be more a tutorial and all about scoring first blood.

Its really best for the Overlord not to try to win the first quest.  The only real way to win this quest is to make the encounter end before the heroes get a chance to open the treasures.  I think the best strategy is to rush the heroes with the boss hopefully blocking their path and forcing them to kill the boss before aquiring any treasure.  Everyone gets the XP no matter what but the heroes move on to the next encounter without any of the extra Schwag.  This imporves the OL odds of winning future encounters.  Right?

Right, the faster they kill the boss the better :-) , so they can´t search.
