We've all seen 'popular characters' thrown around, and in the nature of informal internet polling, I thought I'd make a thread to see what comes of it.

So, if every character you could imagine had equally effective and cool rule support, what character would you chose to play?

I'd either continue my d20 "Hutt Pirate Lord" or create a "Zeltron Independent Trader & Smooth Talker".

Something like Kyle Katarn before the "oh wait he's a Jedi" rubbish.

Do you even have to ask?

This setting screams Han Solo and Chewbacca, as well as Lando Calrissian before he became a "legitimate" businessman.

Definitely this - Lando is a much underused character!

Maybe it's just my fascination with Force-users in general, but I'd probably go with a "barely-trained Jedi on the run."

Given how easy it can be for Fringe operators to make morally questionable choices, it'd prove an interesting counter to have someone that's a bit more noble-minded yet can't always afford to make a stand for fear of being "found out" by the authorities.  Very much like the dynamic between Simon Tam and Mal Reynolds in Firefly.

That and I do enjoy the satisfaction that comes with starting out as a near-rubbish Force-user and eventually growing into a force to be reckoned with, an example of overcoming numerous obstacles.

When I get a chance to play a game rather than GM one, I'll be running a Doctor/Marauder combo, simply for the ability to run around and Vulcan Nerve Pinch people into unconsciousness. :P

A Gamorrian, Weequay, or Dressellian republic commando (special forces).

For this setting though, I would love a Bith, or the wee blue elephant men (max rebo).

Totally thought you were going to end that first line with "walk into Chalmun's cantina."

Also, pretty sure the Rebo's species was Ephant Mon. After so many years, that finally makes sense. >.>

Ephant Mon was huge, had a mouth at the end of the trunk.  Max Rebo was Ortolan.  Guess it all got confusing again, huh!

Yes. Way back in the day I loved that he was a total badass in the Star Wars setting, but wasn't a Jedi.

http://www.youtube.c...D_sicR04#t=2m2s

Seriously. Look how badass he is! Guy is built like a brick privy. And he is wearing a totally sweet armour vest thing under a rocking heavy coat (I have owned several coats that I intended to look like that jacket).

To say I approved of Mr. Katarn in the first Dark Forces game would be an understatement. For that matter to say that I was unimpressed by the bearded slightly built wuss Jedi they made him in Dark Forces II would also be an understatement. Not that I have anything against beards, but his was not a good, manly beard.

--

I'd also like to play a hotshot X-wing fighter ace, but I have learned from bitter experience that you do not want to play the pilot in a Star Wars RPG.

--

And then of course, there is Starkiller/Galen Marek/The Secret Apprentice. The Force Unleashed was my favourite Star Wars thing in ages. It coincided so perfectly with my Views on how to do this stuff, and it was great. So him.

Dash Rendar. Actually, when I think of it the character I did make for our game has a little of Dash Rendar in him (although I have been describing him as a mix between Zaeed Massani from Mass Effect 2 and Bronn from A Song of Ice and Fire up until now. That will change).

Other than that I second a Bith musician who has a debt from starting his career.

Yeah, i realized that this morning. Once again anniversary champagne gets the best of me.

Though the actual pun on the name still holds true.

Alas I will never play this game as anything but a GM, unless I get real lucky and take time out to participate in the local rpg con… which is a weekend of complete social deviation and will most likely not get to make my own character anyways.

I'd love to play a Gand slicer-type or findsman/bounty hunter.. anything really, as long as I got to play a Gand. I love them.

Max Rebo is an Ortolan. Ephant Mon is a Chevin.

Could enjoy an HK-47 type droid character. Him excluded, and stepping away from the Force-imbued, a couple of the TOR companions, or Mira from KOTOR could be nice. The KOTOR characters especially, since most of the second game's cast could become Jedi, and would be much more like this game's take on Force-users, rather than suddenly becoming "the vessels of former Knight's spirits" level of skill, since the game doesn't elapse time, or show training/mishaps. I love Jedi, but it could be fun to run like Atton or Mira, and make one's footprint with other skills, before later discovering they have a second facet of their destiny; the Force.

After reading Agent of the Empire, I would love to play a character like Jahan Cross - my two favorite licensees combined - Bond and Star Wars!!!

Jahan is cool but deadly like Bond and has great Star Wars gadgets. (Who does not want an IN-GA by their side! ) He wants to do what's right but knows the Empire he works for isn't always on the right side of things. It would be a lot of fun to play a character with such odds at play. His character development could be so rich and it would be interesting to see his final path and where he ends up by the Return of the Jedi era. At the same time, you can have sooo much fun with his "roguish" side and flirtiness with the ladies of the galaxy!

Maybe I will create the Rebel's version of Bond and Cross….nope…never mind, he'll just end up being an "american" CIA agent! So not as cool…

Truth be told, a gungan warrior would be pretty cool. Like a serious one, do the species some justice as it is a pretty cool species if you knock out Jar Jar.

Anything would be cool if you got to knock out Jar Jar.

If the Clone Wars series has taught us anything, it's that Gungans are actually quite badarse.  Jar Jar is a RETARD.  (My appologies for comparing him to the mentally handicapped.  Such an insult to the mentally handicapped.)  Jar Jar is such a retard - such an atypical gungan - that he was BANISHED.  "Yousa, are such a MORON that wesa embarrased to have you around."

Watch the Clone Wars after Capt. Tarpauls dies.  GUNGANS KICK ARSE.

I once had a player at my table who was of the same opinion, and sat out to prove just how cool gungans can be. By the end of that campaign, I was unable to take the entire species seriously. Not just Jar-Jar. :)

Long story.

That's unfortunate!  As was stated on here before, check out The Clone Wars "Shadow Warrior" episode.  Gungans are kinda badass.  It should re-new your view of the species as a whole.

If not, move close and run a game I can come play in.
