So, does anyone here have experience with Lackey that would like to make a plugin for this game?

I did find a plugin for the old Netrunner, it's located here:  http://userpages.uni...trunner/net.zip

You have to download it and unzip it into the plugins directory yourself, but it seems to work at first glance.

I've done a couple of sets for Lackey, mostly homegrown stuff but I could probably do it.  There's a program called OCTGN that I actually prefer.  I know they were having problems with the comes into play facedown mechanic, but I'm pretty sure it's been fixed now, be happy to look into it as long as I'm not gonna have anyone from FFG looking to shut it down.

I was considering putting together a Lackey plugin (for personal use) on release, then releasing to the public 6 months down the line. The reasoning behind this is that the two people I would normally play NetRunner with are way up in Scotland (I'm in South East England) and Australia (well, yeah…), and FFG have been happy to accept the LoTR LCG being released on Lackey, as long as updates are given 6 months (I bought LoTR after playing it on Lackey because I found I enjoyed it, so it is a benefit to FFG).

I have done work on sets in the past, I've created a Star Trek DBG plugin (not released, but stable and I should release it now), and currently working on updating the old NetRunner plugin with the virtual expansions (again for personal use, until I get permission to release).

I haven't tried OCTGN, but I have tried NetRunner in Vassal, and that seemed fine to me as well. There's also Gccg and I'm sure there was another version doing the rounds. NetRunner is popular!

Hi,

first of all: Hello to all!
I am all excited about the Netrunner remake and I hope it will be a long lasting success.
The old Netrunner was my favourite game of all times and I won the German Nationals five times.

Now, concerning online play: If someone here is interested in playing/learning the old Netrunner by playing an online game, just send me a pm to schedule a game.

SeeYa, Frizzler

I've tried the Netrunner plugins for both Lackey and OCTGN.  OCTGN is way, WAY better.  They've built some automation in to the plugin on OCTGN; with Lackey everything you do has to be done manually.  Also the Lackey interface is UGLY.  OCTGN's interface is much more pleasing to the eye.  However, OCTGN is Windows only, so if you're on a MAC or Linux, Lackey would be the way to go for you.

"They've built some automation in to the plugin on OCTGN"

It's easy to do the same with lackey ^^, but card effects are great on octgn !

Hello, lead designer of the OCTGN plugin for the old Netrunner here. I just popped in to mention that I will make a plugin for ANR when I get my hands on card scans, as due to the similarity of the rules the port should be easy.

I also wanted to address a few points made here.

1) Yes, the OCTGN plugin is very automated, and I'm already working for even more automation (i.e. think of being able to have specific card effect by double-clicking on the card)

2) Yes, OCTGN is at the moment windows-only, but there is a cross-platform version in the works, and you can also use it via a Virtual Machine as well until then.

3) No, Lackey absolutely cannot provide the same level of automation as OCTGN. As far as I know, Lackey does not even support basic scripting.

For anyone interested in the old version of Netrunner, you can find the OCTGN plugin here

Agree that OCTGN is the way to go. The a Game of Thrones LCG players use it, and it works well (on Windows). I am 95% certain that CardGameDB.com is developing an online deckbuilder for Netrunner. They already have them for the other LCGs, and decks built online can be downloaded as an OCTGN file to be imported directly into OCTGN, ready for play (incredibly useful).

Just, fyi OCTGN does allow for playing cards face down. The original system was a little annoying in terms of how to do that, but they fixed that issue in OCTGN 2 (or earlier in an update…I can't remember) and the most recent version is OCTGN 3 (I think).

You can play any card face-down natively by holding shift while you drag & drop it. In the Netrunner plugin however the engine knows whether a card is supposed to be played face-down or up and does it automatically when you simply double-click a card from your hard.

I'm not predisposed to any particular program, I use Lackey because it works on my Mac and OCTGN doesn't (using Crossover).  If they come out with a version that works, I'm happy to use whatever.  However, I also like it when I don't have to learn a new crappy program to play online and in my experience ALL of the generic game playing engines are pretty crappy to learn.  To an extent, that just seems to be part of being generic instead of customized to a specific game.

dboeren you can also use OCTGN via a Virtual Machine. Alternatively I've heard that GCCG is also crossplatform and better than lackey. And also has a larger community for netrunner ;)

Hey all, since we're on the subject I thought to inform that I've just finished a huge update to the Netrunner plugin engine, adding ridiculous levels of automation. You can find the details here, and I've also written a blogpost with the most basic instructions to get the thing working for you.

All this automation will go into the Android Netrunner version I'll prepare later, so you can try it out right now to see what's in store ;)

I've been collating available card scans (published images) over on BGG and have intention to finish the job once I have my physical set.

If I'm duplicating effort or images will be 'gotten' from some other source, someone please let me know.
