So far there have been 5 regional championships held (2 in the US, 3 in Europe), but no news, reviews or reports?

1st place French wants to keep their deck list secret, and apparently 4th place has the same deck (basically).  But they posted 2nd and 3rd place, and promise to post more of the decks later:

Interesting!  Though hard to read with google translate at times.  I can understand the desire to keep their decks secret, but it's pretty clear what he was playing hehe.

The Italians have less information, but the faction breakdown is very different than France… not the presence of Shub, for example!

Ohio had

1st. Hatsur/Yog
2nd. Hatsur/Yog
3/4th. Mono Syndicate
3/4th. Mono Cthulhu

Other decks included 2x more Mono cthulhu, cthulhu/miskatonic, mono agency,

Suprising how little shub has shown up. (italy aside) Not surpised to see so much cthulhu. A little suprised (but not really) on the amount of Hatsur though.

Poor Agency, how the mighty has fallen.

Did you have 8 players total then?  How many rounds did you play?

Any other information (aside from deck lists or elements you'd like to keep secret) on how the tournament was organized or how the day went that you might like to share?

Indeed!  Who won, what was the meta-game like other than faction…  (Finally Hastur showed up in strength!)

Can we assume, Tom, that the '12 Regional Championship in your title is your way of hinting to us that you won Ohio?

COCLCG, congrats on the win (I'm  assuming from other posts you took the top honors).  Would you care to share other details about your day?

How many people showed up?  How many rounds?  What was the venue like?  Is this the first regional in the area?  That kind of stuff.

twas the first ever regional down here and held at a venue along with 2 other tournaments (i think GOT and MAGIC), so was a bit unorganised but some growing pains are to be expected. im just super glad that it was put on by the GoodGames melbourne venue so thanks heaps to them.

its terribly hard to find COC players in australia, they seem to buy the game and then dissappear into the woodworks, so it was a great chance just to network and some regular meets might result from the day, along with actually getting in some play time against real opponents!! although the players were all experienced card gamers, some silly mistakes appeared during the process (my big bad was first turn playing blood magician and gibbering soul together, using a 1 domain the blood magician could've used and losing the opportunity for 2 successes!!)

i included the little 'haha' at the end of my title because although a good day with some great struggles, there were only 3 of us (with 1 extra late arrival who then got to challenge the winner just to see if it would've mattered), so doesn't feel like i earned any accolades. we played a simple round robin until an evident winner was realised. with lady lucks help i went undefeated and then defeated the late challenger as well (mono - cthulhu).

everyone seemed to have an enjoyable day, lots of banter about tactics and expanding the game down here, and we were quite happy to watch each others games and even lend advice in non critical situations. probably not to be regarded as a strict tournament under set conditions of FFG, but laid back is what we australians do best!!!

I'd also like to quickly say thanks for the postings about the regionals. its been very heartening to see that cthulhu may have lost its domination and i was far too critical of it in the lead up i now confess. also that:

1 ) Hastur has obviously been boosted to compete well.

2) Yog is finally moving out of the 'support' designation.

COCLCG,

It's not just Australia - I think it's tough finding CoC players no matter where you live.  They do seem to buy an Asylum Pack and then sneak back into the shadows…

Like you, I'm using the Portland tournament (our first regional as well) to network and establish a regular league night.  I figured it was the best way to bring together as many CoC players at the same time.  The offering of beer helped, too.

It's good to hear you've got a start on building the local scene.  I've found it only takes a few dedicated players to turn things into something much bigger.

yes it is strange. ive asked retailers and they say that the game sells fairly well, but where are all these people?? ive also tried local gaming forums with limited success. hopefully this day has kickstarted a competitive league here. keep the reports coming!! also forgot:

3 ) Discard decks are now making an appearance in the top spots (though Shub clearing snow graves for Yog seems to be the trend)

Same here.  Several stores carry and sell the packs, but good luck finding out who or where they are hiding.  We bump into one of them occasionally and they always say they didn't know anyone else played but we usually never see them again.
