...I keep thinking about how Fantasy Flight is also supposed to be working on the Star Wars RPG. And, then I get to thinking, wouldn't it be cool if the RPG had the ability to port into the Starfighter game. So, your character's stats and abilities could be represented in the starfighter game mechanics. Then whenever there was a starfighter battle, you could run it using this game.

I'm not sure about the probability of the company actually doing this as an integral part of the RPG system, since it heavily ties tie the profitability/production cycle of both product lines to each other. But, it sure does get me thinking about my own mods for the RPG game once it is released.

At least you'll have some decent models to play around with

The designer of this game, Jay Little, is also lead designer on FFG's Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay... so like you, I really hope he's keeping an eye toward making these items cross-compatible. The games should of course each work well by themselves (no one should be 'forced' to buy both), but making both games play well together will certainly entice people like me!

I. J. Thompson, I just saw that you had already posted about this in the RPG thread. Great minds think alike, right.

(And, there are a lot of great minds at FFG, so there is hope...)

I don't know about this. To me, part of the charm of RPG (aside from the roleplaying aspect) is how complex it is with lots of stats to juggle and stuff like that. This game seems like it's too streamlined to really be used for an RPG. Plus, these rules would be really confusing to someone who only bought the RPG and chose not to collect the miniatures.

But then, if you were going to buy both, I think it would be awesome to see this happen. I'd love a system that allowed you to make a stat card with initiative values and special abilities based on RPG rules that lets you then put that character into a starfighter and play this battle out with the minis.

I think it's an exciting prospect. Can't wait to see what they decide to do.
