Sooooo, for those of you upon this forum, how long do your games tend to go for? Fantasy Flight averages the game out at 90 minutes, yet my friends and I rarely have a game of Talisman that doesn't go for almost more than 2 hours. There was one session we had where my brother actually won in under 2 hours, but that was one out of the ten or fifteen games we've so far played...Thus, I can conclude that like the game itself, the average length is fairly variable.

BUT, imma still curious about how long it takes for most people here.

Don't play that often but generally I would say 3+ hours easily.

We tend to push early for the middle too but it is generally a social experience and so involves talking drinking and baiting.

With 3-4 players. All expansions, some rule debate/improvising, new characters when you die, and no one doing a dash for the crown until 12+ in at least one stat. Easily 6+ hours. And that is with no break included.

3-4 players with all expansions I would say roughly for my group around 2-3 hours. Lot I have seen depends on what characters are randomly picked.

3-players, normal 7-point trophy rule, no starting boost to stat(s), 75 minutes, 90 min with Eagle King/Ice Queen due to extra gearing up needed (although they too have been beaten in under 60 min).

2 players with 7 trophy point rule is around 4 hours.

This include the Dungeon and the Highland expansion.

This describes our playing quite well I think. We usually start around 7.30 pm (when the kids are in bed) and usually finish sometime after midnight.

Although, at the few times we play two player games it usually goes alot faster.

Over here, 2 players, base+Reaper+SP: 2-3 hours, though we did finish in 90 minutes once.

We like to dawdle, and wait for interesting stories to emerge from play, but generally make a dash for the middle at about STR 12.  We "power-up" by exchanging the number of trophy points equal to the next level of power, and often start off with an extra, to speed things up.  We still have never finished under three hours, and often go to 5.

30 minutes plus 30 minutes per player for a game purely focused on the endgame and using no additional realm boards.  Realm boards may shorten the game sometimes based on luck of the draw/roll to accessing the CoC without a talisman. Based on going for the win with one stat at 9+ and the other at 6+ on average.

  • For a leisurely game to enjoy the adventure along the way, add about 15 minutes per player.
  • For games with players preferring higher stats, add about 15 minutes per player.

We generally play for the fun of it with a win being something to shrug about... or something to seek when more than half of us start to get bored. So typically a 3-4 player game lasts about 3 to 4 hours. Talisman doesn't take a lot of thought (ususally), so its a very social evening when we play.

Yes, Talisman is very social game. For play at home: 3players, starting bonus +1, next level for 5points trophies - it usually takes about 2 hours.

When playing with friends, 4players games takes longer. Especially, if to play with dragon expansion and when everybody draw tokens. But you can make it easier to assign yourself to draw tokens for every turn. Then this part is faster and game will take ~3hours if no rush.

Last game my gaming group played a couple of weeks ago, with beer and dips and socialising.  There are 4 of us and it stretched out to 7 hours non-stop.  No-one made a dash into the centre until strength 12, and all boards and expansions.

For social board gaming there isn't much that can beat this in our group.  Its a lot of fun and not too serious, especially with the Reaper.
