After a more than unpleasant experience with figure warping with the Cadwallon board game, I was considering picking up Dust Tactics as I heard that the figures are finly crafted using hard plastic (as figures should be) and thus won't warp like those found in Cadwallon.  I then read that instead people are having issues with the board pieces themselves warping (this comes from BoardgameGeek and was more than unnerved when I saw this: http://cf.geekdo-ima...ic892975_lg.jpg

From what I read there were more than a few people who said they tried flattening the board peices with heavy books and such for several days but the warp persisted if only slightly.

Now granted I had a handful of defects ordering Tannhauser games with a few character cards being torn or stuck together from glue spots, the board having glue streaks on one side, etc.  But for a $100 price tag (or $ 70 if you go though CoolStuffInc) I find it rather unnerving and a big hamper on my decision to order it.  But in their defense, Fantasy Flights customer service was spot on getting me the replacements for the defective parts.

Has anyone else had problems with Dust: Tactics and if so how easy was it to get resolved?

I'm also kind of curious if anyone has heard anything about the possibility of Koshka being released as a figure for D:T?

I personally have not had any problems with my boards warping, So maybe this issue has to do with climate you live in or what you are putting the boards on. I live in Northern California and play with the gaming tiles on a gaming table on a gaming table at my FLGS.

As far as minature warping some of the guns on my minatures were a little bent, but nothing that could not be fixed with a Hair dryer and a little patience. I expect some slight flaws in most of the minatures I buy though, due to shipping, and most are pretty easy to repair.

I have also not heard of any Sino-Soviets releases at this time, but who knows. hopefully as this game gets bigger and more popular their will be future releases.

I must be lucky or it may be the dry air out in California, but I have had no issues with warping. They didnt sit perfectly flat out of the box but I did the book thing too and now they are perfect. I just went and bought a 4x4 piece of fiber board for $10 and am making my own large board.

Ah, that could be it...the climate that is.  Im in Illinois, so I might just have to take the chance.  I did however have one more question about the walkers/tanks.  I read somewhere that for whatever reason the allied tank turrets don't snap into place on the models like on the German tanks.  I was wondering if this were true or not, though I suppose it wouldn't be that difficult to glue them in place if it were.  I have also heard conflicting statements on both sides arguing on how fragile the tanks are.  Some people stating they broke pieces just trying to put the tank together, others saying the opposite.  Granted I am one to be very careful about such things, but I also like to have a good idea of what to expect when making the kind of investment the game is.

It is true that the tuurets on the allied walkers do not snap on, but there is a thread on this forum on how to magnatize the walkers and he shows you step by step on how to do this.

Some of the allied parts are a little delicate, such as the .50 cal and searh light, so you do want to be carefull when putting these on. the afore mentiond thread also shows how to also magnatize these as well.

FFG knows the problem with the boards they are trying to fix it. Its the previous company. FFG wasnt the first ppl to manufacture the boards. them and the dice are suppose to be fixed when they start making them but that wont be until they sell all the ones they have. told by the comic store owner where i go.

I live in Illinois also so, I get the warping fun as well. I've heard from the forums to put a towel over your board and iron them on a flat surface, but I dont know what that does to the binding glue or the gloss finish.  Where abouts are you in Illinois? Im always looking for a few gamers.

I don't know how bad you dice are but mine in both boxes I bought the symbol was off center, the sides where the symbol were on were bevelled so it had less chances of rolling on the hit side.

Thanks for the info.  I hadn't given my dice a through look.  Yeah, I have some dice that has the same issue.  Is there a exchange program to get the dice and boards to ones that doesn't have issues (Please provide link if there is one).  At retail of $100 per game I imagine it's something FFG can fix for their customers.

Thanks

I'm in Illinois as well (Saint Charles, to be exact) and have had no warping problems with my tiles so far. I've had the game since Christmas.

The only dice problem I have is that they clearly like my wife more than me.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA thats awesome. I think all of us will know a little more when it gets hot and humid. I was thinking of taking mine in my bathroom and leaving it some where so it wont get wet and letting a hot shower run in the bathroom to see if the steam and heat in the room will warp it and if no warping take it outside to dry. I was thinking it will either dewarp it if it is or warp it to the extreme. I live in Virginia and its been pretty cold this year so I'm not sure what summer is going to be like for these boards.

O and I think it depends on the box if the allies or axis parts snap together b/c mine was the opposite my allies snapped in but my axis wouldnt even fit in the whole, but I am the person who magnetized my walkers. twc-dust-tactics.blogspot.com the bigger reason I did it was so that I could easily assemble and dismantle while transportomg the walkers without anything braking and from the look of the large scale models the walkers are interchangeable so I can swap arms amoung each other. The only one I can't figure out how to do is magnetize the axis MG I dont want to cut the bar and put a magnet there but it keeps snapping off.
