After a first game, and struggling to get the story dice rules right, the sandstorm was becoming the most finicky and fussy part of the game. It was awkward in a number of ways. So I came up with an alternative token and an explanation as to why. I won't fight with this forum trying to repost all that, so see it at my blog (in my sig). Here is the graphic for printing and constructing it.
Essentially it is a see-through sandstorm that can be lifted and moved without disturbing tokens or playing pieces. The graphic here is display reduced.
