Fire In The Equipment Room

Hello.

I am new to the game and the forums and I need a question answered please.

 

While playing, my gnome wanted to get some items. So they move into the the equipment room, after opening the hatch. He took 3 min. getting 3 items. Now, his maker started to play catch up to the ghost counter. On an event maker a fire breaks out randomly. Unfortuneately, it is the same room as my gnome. Since he is not passed out, does he die or can he spend time to get out of the room?

I found it in the rules. Page 12 states a player must make a supplemental move.

 AIUI the supplemental move is if you end your action step in a room with fire. If an event triggers fire you just wait until your next turn and then can only run away or fight fire. If you fail to extinguish the fire on that turn THEN you would be forced out.
