I was wondering if it would be possible to do a Battlelore league similiar to the Arkham Horror league. The lack of a point system for this game makes it tough to do a league based on this, but I wondered if anyone had any ideas on how such a league could be accomplished and if anyone would be interested in joining if we did one.

Two suggestions for scoring;

1. 3 points for a win and 1 for a loss.

2. No points for a loss, but points equal to the difference between captured flags for the winner.

I'd go with option 2, personally.

Possible yes, in the case of Battlelore, fairly easy I would have thought. The difficulty is getting people to commit and stay the course. The longer the league the harder that will be. Given that the banners provide and easy scoring system it even allows for points difference to seperate player on the same number of wins, which is a normal problem with any league in any field of endevour. The question you really need to ask is who would run it.. .thats where most good ideas for league fall down, people are happy to take part but dont want to do the organising.

It would be very interesting. I might join if one started near me. You could just write your own point system, or download one. There are a ton out there.

I was trying to convince JR to do one since he was hosting the AH one and was the BL Line coordinator.  But it never really got anywhere.  I would like to see it available on Vassal for those that might find it difficult to gather up a consisttent core group.  AH played solo so there was no excuse.

Not a league per se, but here's a link to a vassal oriented site that hosts a couple of campaigns, and certainly would welcome more:

BattleLore: Call to Arms

I have been toying with the idea of designing a league/campaign system but real design work keeps me too busy for it.

That's a interessting topic!

We are planing to start a league over here in Germany/Austria/Switzerland.
The points? Well, first idea: Loss = 0 points, Equal = 1 point, Win = 3 points. Just like the soccer league

How will you play the games? On Vassal or Zuntzu?
How many players at maximum - maybe split the league to A and B?
Who should host the league?

There a lot more questions, than would you like a league?
Maybe we have a few ideas for you later...

All good stuff here.

My first thought were to try something like the AH league where people can create thier own teams, wether they be 1 or 2 or more players in each team. The League is made up of scenarios and each team plays them and emails or posts results for comparision.

I never considered a vassal league, but that is something that could be explored also.

There would not be much in terms of running it other than posting rules and results and scenarios. I was asking more to see if there had been anything like this prior or in the works currently. I am NOT looking to organize it...Heh, but would help.

Scenarios could be fan created, officially created or current existing ones that come with the game, maybe arranged in a new order. The AH one did a great job of promoting old expanasions and most likely generated some sales for FFG that they would not have normally gotten. I dont work for FFG but thought this was an ingenious marketing ploy they could apply elsewhere.

You may want to check out the following for inspiration from BGG if you haven't already;

It's the details on a 6 man tourney, but should be adaptable to a league.  I especially like the whole Specialist Cards drafting process and ante system   Very smart!
