Hi folks,

Do we have any possible release dates for RT?

Not been in the loop much in regard to this game but starting to take a fancy

Well, my FLGS (Leisure Games) is pretty much the largest RPG store in the UK, and both them and their distributors have RT slated for the week starting the 24th August, so the week after next is my guess.

Amazon still says it's released today, but they sent out an e-mail to those of us that pre-ordered saying there's been a delay and they'll let us know when it's available.

At least Amazon cares about it's customers enough to point delays out to us - would be nice if FFG did the same and didn't all take time out to go to Gen-Con.

I've just noticed the same thing from Amazon.

I always thought it strange that they have been the only place online to have actually been allowing the book to be ordered anyway. Most other sites don't list it at all yet.

Amazon's release dates aren't based on reality.  They list estimated release dates based on their own proctological findings.

When one of Amazon's fake dates comes and goes, they send you an automated email telling you so.

I don't know if you've noticed, but so far Amazon hasn't gotten any of the Dark Heresy stuff until 6 weeks after it's been released anyway.  You're better off going through your FLGS if you want your stuff on time.  My local store usually gets new releases the same week FFG announces that the book has been released.

I'm not saying FFG's got the best way of dealing with releases, but don't give Amazon more credit than they deserve.

Again, you'd be better off checking out one of the game stores that sells stuff online.

FFG's GenCon report has a listing at the bottom.  It says Late September for Rogue Trader.

I've noticed the Upcoming page hasn't been updated concerning Rogue Trader.

Considering it isn't "On the Boat" yet, I'd think Late September early October is more likely.

Or they just have gotten around to updating it.  Before the website changed, the upcoming section was regularly unattended.  I don't really know how much better it has gotten.

My local retailer assured me he would have ten copies in tomorrow, (Friday the 21st).

Maybe you're right. Then again, all of the stuff that's either "on the truck" or "in stores" has been updated on time.

To avoid having my spirits crushed in a month's time though, I'll just expect Mid-October.

Well, the latest from Ross Watson in the Design Diary indicates that both the CE and regular edition of the book will ship in late September.  So it appears that is the answer.

Which sucks, as it was originally suggested by FFG that it'd be out late August, which means it'd been dropped back a month.

This makes me even more annoyed at the release of the game at Gencon, it means that Americans that went there and bought it (since most Europeans and the like aren't gonna fly over there just to get RT early) get it almost 2 months before the rest of us.

We've already waited this long since this board was put up and speculations about the game began. Two more months is nothing and, besides, two months can go by in the blink of an eye. Heck, October is only 3-6 game sessions (assuming a weekly to bi-weekly gaming schedule) away. That'll go by in no time.

Most Americans couldn't just fly or take a week to a week and a half off work to road trip to Gen Con to get the book either (that'd be a heck of a lot of money to spend/lose just for one book).

Being an American, the trip would have been more than 1000 miles for me.  And I'm currently not in a position to take such a road trip since I have a two year old at home.  And while people attending GenCon who would most likely be American had a crack at it, I think that it is really such a small segment of the gaming population that is interested in RT that it is negligible.  During and after GenCon, I kept checking ebay to see if anyone had bought it and put it up for auction and it hasn't.  Meanwhile the game that I was really dying to see, Eclipse Phase, which only had 100 copies at GenCon did have a one, and only one, copy go up for auction.  Again, I think that it is such a small portion of the gaming population...

Back when Black Industries was still doing the WH40K RP stuff, I used to think that it was unfair that the Europeans got first crack at it.
