Greetings one and all. I recently had an idea for a fan project that I've begun, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it or not. I recorded readings of the flavor text from the Act I quests of Lair of the Wyrm, and would very much like to do the same with Act II, The Shadow Rune, and Labyrinth of Ruin, but first I want to make sure it's even viable. Because of this, some issues come up:

1) Is there even an audience for this? This is intended mainly for people who want to play as the overlord, but don't want to have to read the story segments aloud; everyone has different talents, and while I like to believe that oration is one of mine, I know that many people hate such things, but this shouldn't be a barrier that stops them from taking the role of overlord.

2) Is this legal? I know that FFG has gone out of their way to make sure that the quest guides are not made public; however, the readings only include the story segments, and include no information about quest setup, monster selection, special rules, or anything else of the like beyond what the story hints at.

3) How do I handle Eliza Farrow, Ariad, and Serena if I continue this project? I can't do female voices very well... I think I do well enough with Valyndra, but that's largely because I don't imagine that dragons would sound very feminine by human standards.

4) How do I upload attachments here? I see the "My Media" button which brings me to a screen where I can view my attachments, but I can't figure out how to actually add them. I'd very much like to give a sampling of what I've done thus far.

I'm sure there are some people who would be interested in it.  I'm not sure I would want to use a recording at the table myself, but I'd at least be interested to hear it.

FFG is usually pretty easy-going about letting fans do what they want, in my experience.  That said, you should definitely contact them to ask if they have any objections.  It's only polite.

The obvious solution would be to find a woman willing to do some voice work for you.  If you don't know any women into voice acting (or board games, or both) locally, you could always ask around online.  As long as they have their own recording equipment, they don't really need to be local.

I would personally seek permission from FFG before dragging anyone else into the project, though.

You can always upload the audio clips to something like soundcloud.com and post links.

Alright, I guess that works for the time being; if FFG gives me the go ahead, I'll upload them quest by quest to BGG. For now, I'll keep Gold Digger up here for streaming as a sampling of what's done:

Lair of the Wrym - Gold Digger - Opening

Lair of the Wyrm - Gold Digger - Valyndra's Challenge

Lair of the Wyrm - Gold Digger - Hero Victory

Lair of the Wyrm - Gold Digger - Overlord Victory

If I can get a proper mic, I would be willing to produce a lady's voice for you. Though I little rusty with my play acting, I think I might be able to pull something off.

I don't think we would play this at my table either, but it would be good for people that don't have good readers. One of my heroes does a great job! But had I not have him, this would look really appealing.
