Maybe a 4 square critter with a point of Reach to simulate tentacles of slime grabbing your gear. Spend a surge to "eat" a piece of gear at random, but exclude Runes as valid targets. Canon says that they are etched into the flesh of the caster. Hard to steal that...

Where does it say that? If that was strictly the case, they wouldn't have rune items that can be traded.

Where does it say that? If that was strictly the case, they wouldn't have rune items that can be traded.

 

I was fairly certain that I read that in the first edition rules somewhere. Is it not the case? I was just going off of the background mythos.

Got a Vampire idea. When the vamps attack they immediately recover health from all damage sources they do on there turn. They also have an attack that targets there stamina. The master does all of the above but in addition if he lands a wound and if he gets two surges (and spends them)he can take 1 exp. from target hero. If hero has no exp. then no effect. Also if fully healed the master may transfer the otherwise waisted heath to an adjacent model instead. One more ability Gaze (one action)target takes a unknown skill check if failed target is stunned (must be adjacent).

Maybe little to OP but feels like a Vamp.

Perhaps, to balance things out, have the Vamp spend surges or stamina to recover all wounds. The EXP drain is a harsh penalty. I can hear players rage-quitting now. How about this: Drain Stamina until the player drops and then the Vamp can spend 1 Health to create a Skeleton/Zombie in the same space as the fallen Hero, ignoring monster limits.

if they did a campaign out to sea or coastal (maybe Atlantis like setting?), they could do fish/merpeople! That would be super fun. Along with other fish like monsters. Maybe Leviathan as a LT?? Maybe fishing it there ^.^;; hehe.

I have thought that many a desert like theme would be fun. Scorpion would be a fun monster type. I could see them with stun and/or poison. They could conceivably be powerful and small. Snakes and sandworms could pop up. Sandworms could have swallow.

They aren't super exciting as some of the others posted here, but I would like to see them. I would like to see these environments as well ^.^;;

Sea setting would be cool. It would be interesting to see how they would fit something like that in. Perhaps a campaign setting that takes place on an island and you half to interact with the surroundings of the island.

 

Pirates are still pretty hot in the market these days. Orc and Goblin Pirates would be hilarious! New Splig-esque lieutenant Pirate Captain. Good Stuff!

U want to see some animal or human monsters. Like bandits, necromancers, etc...

Necromancer could be interesting, for his action he "casts" and you put a stamina token on his base and for every monster that dies within say 5 spaces a zombie is placed in their space and you remove a stamina token. Although they'd have to have like 3 health and brown defense die to even out.
Really hope they make a campaign with a Necromancer theme. Maybe got to stop him before raising mummies,skeletons,banshees, lesser necromancers, lesser vampires ect. Lol like that idea with Necromancer. Want him to be a nasty beast to deal with at end game. They could even add Eliza Farrow in this.

 

Maybe Add a new Slayer-Style Class to the Cleric Decks. One that does added effects to Undead Critters.

Yeah EXP drain probably to harsh. Lol on the rage-quitting comment. Like the summon idea very nice! Was thinking to make Vamp really versatile was allowing him to attack either health or stamina. If health=can heal,if stamina=summon that would be so cool. Depending on amount of stamina damage depends on amount of summons starting health.

Yeah they can do a lot with goblins. Plots can really add some character to future monsters. That idea reminds me of 40k orcs they are kind of like pirates. And would be really cool.

I really would like some more healer vs healer wars going on between OL and heroes. Yeah I was thinking that too kind of a D&D cleric one that really hurts undead.

Indeed. I have a hard time getting players to choose the Cleric class. They don't grab the interest. It takes a certain type of gamer to want to play a healer. They need more options, like Smite or Turn Undead.

Really? there have been jokes with my group there everyone would play the healer class. But there is one person that LOVES the healer class. He played life gain and magic so the move to healer was very natural for him. He plays a really good warrior too ~.~...

My group always takes Disciple class. They like the condition control. But a healer that is good at dealing with Vamps(if we get one), skeletons ect. Would be very nice(for the heroes of course).

I guess the issue is that my players are just really reckless then... Or I have crap luck as an OL. Prolly more the the latter... LOL!

My heroes have a name for that. Apparently, I have "Overlord Powers" in which anything in my favor is placed under (good roles, choosing quests, being chosen in a raffle...). There is a role that has it's own name. Blue: two hearts, Yellow: two hearts and a surge with the optional Red: three hearts and a surge. This is "The Overlord Role" as if I am the one to role it all of the time ^.^;;

 

And the X men... In which I seemed to have invited for Reclamation. Encounter two had ten misses... All on the heroes. It was painful to watch.

There have been some pretty good ideas on here, especially the orc/goblin pirates idea. Maybe there could also be some zombie pirates?  :lol:

 

What I really want to see is some ghosts/shades/wraiths that can control heroes for a time. Either by possessing them or some new mechanic like fear or something. There really isn't a good spirit monster for the game yet  -_-

I played with Shades from the Conversion Kit last night... Their least ability is amazing. Black defiance dice got there! even with low health in act two. And five of them. I think they are good.

There's shades in the conversion kit? Huh, must have been from a D1 expansion. I never really payed too much attention to those, except Sea of Blood, so I'm a bit rusty on all the old monsters. Still, we could always use more, and there still aren't any made for D2  ;)

 

On another note, I'm still waiting for a Chaos Lord type monster. Seriously, who wouldn't want to fight a giant, spiky demon of death?

Not sure when Shades came in, but I do agree, having more would be awesome. Though the ability to control a hero is VERY powerful. Zacherith has that ability and there will be two OL cards that will give that ability. I feel FFG will keep that ability for LT and OL cards, no matter HOW much I would like that.

 

Chaos Beasts are from the CK as well. We lovingly call them potatoes, because they kind of look like that. They offer the OL the ability to use a hero's own weapon on them, and the master monster has Sorcery 3 (any unused range up to X (3 in this case) can be turned into hearts. Subsequently, if range isn't met, X number of hearts can be used for range). I have always had fun with those. I can use my hero's melee weapon and "throw" it from down town and still do good damage.

Goddamit! I really need to take a look a this conversion kit. Apparently all the monsters I want most already exist  <_<  Unless of course there's no creepy scarecrow monster...
