Dudes,

I just completed what should be the last major update to the Super Huge Detailed Map of the Warhammer Old World, or as I am starting to call it, the SHDMOTWOW (lol, i couldnt help it, pronounced the Shmowow).

Note 1: The Google Maps version will follow shortly.

Note 2: Kuddos to anyone who can find where i signed the map =)

Updates in this edition:

  • Complete overhaul to Sylvania
  • Complete overhaul to Mootland
  • Significant update to various areas of Eastern Troll Country and Kislev
  • Significant update to Norsca region
  • Minor updates in about a dozen other locations to synch with adventures from WFRP2 and Novels
  • Added ALL locations referenced in WFRP3 materials to date (up through Witch's Song)
  • Loads of texture and color adjustments to improve display
  • Added loads of detail to all buildings and structures
  • Refined road networks in the far North and far South
  • Fixed a few spelling errors

Download at Gitzman's Gallery - WFRP Maps section.

Main Features:

The map is a little over 16,000 pixles by 16,000 pixles. It is a continuous map from Norsca to Khemri, from Estalia to
the Dark Lands.

  • A boat load of detail
  • The Island of Albion, Altdorf Region, part of Araby, Averland, The Badlands, Border Princes, Bretonnia, The Dark Lands,
  • Kislev, Nuln, Estalia, Hochland, Middenland, Nordland, Norsca, Ostermark, Ostland, Reikland, Stirland, Suddenland,
  • Sylvania, Talabecland, The Moot, The Pirate Isle of Sartosa, Tilea, Troll Country, The Wasteland, Wissenland, The Worlds
  • Edge Mountains, and more.
  • All locations, roads, cities, forests, etc. have been rescaled to be more cohesive.
  • Full color throughout.
  • Huge amounts of community feedback for correcting errors and adding new locations has been implemented.
  • Many Orc, Goblin and Skaven settlements have been included

For those of you interested in printing the map, it is designed to be printed at 300 dpi, which should yeild a map
between 4 and 4 1/2 feet squared.

While nearly 90% of this map was redrawn and created me, a very large portion of the original content and
inspiration came from the community and the following: Andreas Blicher, Alfred Nunez, JackDays, Emerikol, Sunatet, and
many, many more. My thanks to everyone who helped contribute content.

Its a large file, 100 mb PDF, and all that, so beware =). But its very cool.

Visit Gitzman's Gallery - WFRP Maps to download.

Game on!

Hmm... apparently when I download it, it stops just short of downloading it all

Is that my browser causing trouble?

Hmm let me try it again.  Seemed to work fine for me when last i tried. If there is an issue, i'll re-upload it.

Alternativly you could give it a shot in another browser if you think it might make a difference.

Let me know please,

Gitzman

Now if only somebody was developing rules to add flavor, adventure, and random encounters to go with this map we'd be laughing all the way to the gaming table........

Absolutely beautiful Gitzmap! I love the changes you have made since the first one. Amazing. I never use my home made atlas any more. I just use your map and cut whatever areas I need from it.

Nice!

I'd love to see it pop up in fan made adventures some time soon.

-Map Update-

I made another minor update to the map flushing out forest regions throughout in order to make them appear more organic when viewing the map at a distance.  I have also made a few corrections to locations in or around the Reikland to coincide with some novels and old adventures.

note: i'm working on getting the in browser google maps version updated.  As fo now, just the PDF is updated to v1.2, the google maps is still v1.0

Great stuff, it doesn't include Witch's Song locations, right?

Does anyone know a relatively easy way to print out a section of the map?

@V,

Yes it does include Witches Song locations.  They are all up just northwest of Altdorf near the western edge of The Empire.

Quick call for help here...

I lost my resource for slicing up the big map for use with the Google Maps version, and now it no longer reflects the most current version of the map.  If anyone out there is willing to help, i'd greatly appriciate it.

What i need is somone who:

  • Uses Linux, (server side) and has access to the command console and read/write privelages.
  • Has imagick library installed on the server (i think this is free, i can provide link)
  • I'll provide the scripts, but there will be a little configuration for outputing it properly.
  • The scripts take a few hours to run depending on speed of the computer.
  • I'll proide the map file, the script will generate a couple thousand .png files which i'll use to update the map.

Anyway, kinda an out there request, but if you fit the bill and would like to be part of making this map a tool for all to enjoy, please let me know.

Thanks again for all the kind words and support on the project!
