Thanks!

I have not reviewed your layout but a collated resource of this sort would be great.

I was disappointed that the Creature Guide does not appear to note in either case of monster writeups what action cards are "standard before adding any extras that some monsters are entitled to".   To determined this, if you don't have another product that creature appeared in or if it's new (e.g. vampire), you have to read through the entire Appendix summary.  Even that won't really determine it, for example Savage Strike is not labelled beastman rather "all creatures".

I also haven't seen any guidance generally on "how many actions a creature should have generally", by its threat rating or otherwise.

So a resource of this sort is great as a fan-made "extra appendix" - perhaps someday an official FAQ PDF from FFG.

On a different course, for new creatures any ideas about appropriate actions?

For example, the Forest Spirits, going through the Creature Guide and noting which actions are marked for each

Spite

- here I have a problem.  The descriptive text calls for ranged attacks and magic; low St so no St based attack is a good one (e.g. Aerial Assault is out and also Strangleroots the general Forest Spirit power is poor choice_.  There do not appear to be any actions in Creature Guide marked for Forest Spirit or All that fit.  An Ag or Fel power is required.  Basic Ranged attack is pretty good with Ag and Fortune so perhaps one other action reflecting magic that "leads away or into reverie".  Beguile fits though it is not tagged for them.

 Dryad

  • Capture and Contain
  •  Strangleroots
  • Enchanting Visage
  • Tree Singing (note this would be Reckless Side).

Treekin

  • Strangleroots

 Treeman

  •  Boneripper
  •  Strangleroots
  • Tree Singing (note this would be Conservative side).

Hope THAT helps.

I can make updates when something new is around.

Did not include latest post with Forest Spirits - (just got Creatures Guide and Vault, so will check myself too)

WOW....thanks for that compelation!!  I had to decide between the Creature Vault and the Creature guide and had to go with the Vault (I REALLY like these cards) and I appreciate the handy guide seeing the Vault didn't really come with any documentation.

Quick question about the symbols on the right of the cards that correspond with action cards?  The Wargor has one melee symbol, the Cult Leader has a magic and a fellowship symbol, etc.  The Guide likely explains what to do with them but I won't be able to get that for a bit.  Is it a suggestion for adding player cards?  I am assuming you can give monsters monster cards based on their type but these symbols mean I should add extras?

Skolo, you really have to switch to Dropbox.  Rapidshare blows.

Here's the link to dropbox:  db.tt/NapvCUi

Put your file in the public box, right click, and post that.

I'm starting to use it more than my rptools.gallery account, which is also hassle-free ;)

Thanks for putting this together!

Something like this really should've been in the Guide or Vault!

You have it right. The symbols are suggestions for ways of enhancing that enemy type. If you see two melee symbols, that means you can customize that creature with any two melee action cards you think are appropriate.

It should be noted that the GM isn't limited to awarding the same action cards to the same creature set all the time. They allude to this in the guide with an example  that if someone is carrying fire bombs, they have a one-shot use of the dragon's breath (or similar - can't recall the exact example).  When customizing your encounters, do what you think makes sense and adds drama to your encounter.

Out of Curiosity, did anyone start working on an index of all the cards of the vault listed per traits, card type and by "used by" ?

Something like:

Skaven: The overwhelming horde, Melee Action

Warning shot, Ranged Action

Greenskin:

Crush'em Good, Melee Action

ect...

I think this is one of the major thing lacking in the guide/vault (that and the fact that it does not the list the Standard Creature Actions) and other than a few thing here and there, I feel the Guide is almost a waste of time. I'm still in a love/hate relation with them since I really want to use the cards for creatures, but I find that unless you prepare for encounter before the game, there's no quick way to build up an encounter on the spot (having to go through ALL the cards to find the ones you need).

Anyhows, just wondering if anyone is creating that (don't want to create something someone is already working on), otherwise I'm gonna go ahead and start on it this weekend.

I'm actually working on it on a spreadsheet. Here's how it looks like :

TYPE OF CREATURE / NAME / STATs lines like in bestiary / special abilities / actions cards.

So far, I've written in that table creatures from Tome Of Adventure, Liber Mutatis and Liber Infectus.

Nice! I Started copying the CG entries for the action cards so that way I have .txt that will be easy to search for creatures traits & used by to be able to find the cards I need for each of them

Did you ever finish that spreadsheet? I would really like to see it if you did since I'm still struggling in finding what cards to give to which creatures and giving every cards that has the creature trait on it is not really functional.
