Designer Update for Liber Fanatica #7
Liber Fanatica Volume 7 is the first issue dedicated exclusively to 3rd edition Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (unofficially of course). Our intention is to provide players and GM's some interesting offerings in terms of articles, scenarios, and new cards all in one location. New and updated material is still welcome as are editors and feedback-experts ;)

These are projects that people have committed to finishing up for LF #7

1. Miscast cards specific to each wind of magic by Lasher
2. Distinguishing Marks by Mal Reynolds
3. Complete Set of Pregenerated Characters by Jay Hafner
4. Animal Companions Rules & Cards by Sunatet
5. Storytelling GM's advice under the new rules Pedro Lunaris
6. Gathering Storm Web Enhances by IanBear
7. Playing Non-Heroic Careers by Llanwyre
8. Gm's Advice on topics such as dealing with PC death, creating interesting NPC's by IanBear
9. Sidebars on interesting house rules people have come up with
10. Reikland Revolutionaries (new Organizations) by Joseph Ewens
11. Encounters, Card Optimization & Teamplay by Sunatet
12. A new adventure set in Ubersreik by Jay Hafner

There may be some last-minute entries and any of you are welcome to sumbit articles, new strange eons cards, and contribute to editing.


If you've written a great article here on the forums and you'd like it not to be lost in the stacks here, please think about cleaning it up and RE-contributing it to the Liber Fanatica fanzine: www.liberfanatica.net/phpBB3/viewforum.php

My intention is to get the authors in the Inner Sanctum to finish up after we've all gotten a chance to look at the Sign's of Faith so look for it to be completed by late November!

Hello,

Please excuse my language if it is not perfect. I'm trying to get in touch with people involved in the Liber Fanatica VII.
 
I'm a french Warhammer fan and we are currently doing a french translation of Liber Fanatica VII.
 
I'm in charge of the editing and proofreading of pre-gen characters and I may have noticed a couple of errors in the text.
Would you be so kind as to confirm me that those are mistakes on your side and that we should correct them in our translation ?
 
1) Price of items
 
There a few discrepancies with the price of items in the Liber Fanatica VIII. In your opinion, should we correct the price of items to the one written in Liber Fanatica VIII ?
It would help to ensure consistency between the fanzine.
 
2) Poor quality armor
 
The Performer has a poor quality armor and it is written:"attacker adds 1 fortune dice to dice pool"
This clearly isn't an official ruling and shouldn't we forget that part and let the GM judge the effet of poor quality armor in his campaign?
Or we could even stay in the official rule and write that "the character has a Misfortune die when trying to be serious or stealthy using his colored armour". What do you think you would do?
 
3) Creation points distribution
 
Some characters seem to have wrong character point distribution. Some have more than required, some have less.
 
3.1) Apprentice Sorcerer
The order talent is a dedicated talent and players do not pay for it (player's guide p37). So the character has one more point to spend. Where would you put it? 
 
3.2) Burgher
The character has 5 Skills where he should only have 4. Which one would you forget?
 
3.3) Envoy
I may be wrong but it seems the Envoy has 21 creation points (13 for characteristics, 3 for Wealth, 2 for Skills, 2 for Talents and 1 for Actions). Where would you suppress one point?
Plus we have to forget the Eavesdropping specialisation as the character only has 2 points in skills and does not have Observation trained.
 
3.4) Initiate
Same as the apprentice sorcerer : the faith talent is a dedicated talent and players do not pay for it (player's guide p37). So the character has one more point to spend. Where would you put it? 
 
3.5) Ironbreaker
The logistics specialisation should be forgotten because the character only has two points in skills (+ free racial points).
 
3.6) Performer
I may be wrong but the performer is missing one creation point (17 for characteristics, 1 for Wealth, 2 for skills, 2 for talents, 2 for actions). Where would you put that extra point?
 
3.7) Pit Fighter
The lifting specialisation should be forgotten because the character only has two points in skills.
 
3.8) Scout
The character has 4 extra points. I think Toughness is 3 instead of 4. It would correct the distribution.
 
3.9) Scribe
The character has one extra skill. I think Observation should go has no Talent or Action card refer to it.
 
3.10) Swordmaster
I may be wrong but it seems the Swordmaster has 21 creation points (14 for characteristics, 2 for Wealth, 2 for Skills, 0 for Talents and 3 for Actions). Where would you suppress one point?
 
3.11) Thug
I may be wrong but it seems the Thug is missing 4 creation points (15 for characteristics, 2 for Wealth, 2 for Skills, 0 for Talents and 2 for Actions). Where would you put those extra 4 points? One point in Toughness perhaps?
 
3.12) Troll Slayer
I may be wrong but it seems the Troll Slayer has 22 creation points (13 for characteristics, 2 for Wealth, 3 for Skills, 2 for Talents and 2 for Actions). Where would you suppress these 2 points?
 
3.13) Wardancer
The Ritual Dance Action Card does not exist as such. Should we replace it with Whirling Death?
 
3.14) Waywatcher
The waywatcher seem to have exchanged Intelligence and Willpower.

Good job catching the corrections below.

 

 

Price of Items

These are suggested prices.  Yes it would be ok to update to Liber Fanatica 8 or whatever seems to be the best.

 

Poor Quality Armor

The poor quality armor suggestion was not an official ruling.  Yes, I would remove that and perhaps put an asterisk that indicates *GM should adjudicate what the effect of poor quality armor would be.

 

Creation Points Distribution

Good catch on the creation points!

3.1 Apprentice Wizard -  

ADD:  Aetheryc Attunement focus talent

3.2  Burgher: 

REMOVE:  Discipline

3.3  Envoy: 

REMOVE: eavesdropping  (observation), ADD:  Etiquette (Charm), REMOVE:  Confident talent  (Reputation) to balance points

 

3.4) Initiate

Same as the apprentice sorcerer : the faith talent is a dedicated talent and players do not pay for it (player's guide p37). So the character has one more point to spend. Where would you put it? 

ADD:  Fervant Belief Talent (focus)

 

3.5) Ironbreaker

The logistics specialisation should be forgotten because the character only has two points in skills (+ free racial points).

REMOVE:  logistics

 

3.6) Performer

I may be wrong but the performer is missing one creation point (17 for characteristics, 1 for Wealth, 2 for skills, 2 for talents, 2 for actions). Where would you put that extra point?

ADD:  creation point to Skills:  Add one skill (Intuition) and one specialization (gauge crowd)

REMOVE:  lifting

The character has 4 extra points. I think Toughness is 3 instead of 4. It would correct the distribution.

CHANGE:  Toughness to 3

 

3.9) Scribe

The character has one extra skill. I think Observation should go has no Talent or Action card refer to it.

REMOVE:  observation

 

3.10) Swordmaster

I may be wrong but it seems the Swordmaster has 21 creation points (14 for characteristics, 2 for Wealth, 2 for Skills, 0 for Talents and 3 for Actions). Where would you suppress one point?

REMOVE:  one action:  Path of the autumn wind

 

3.11) Thug

ADD:  one point to toughness (Toughness now 4).  Update wound threshold.

 

3.12) Troll Slayer

I may be wrong but it seems the Troll Slayer has 22 creation points (13 for characteristics, 2 for Wealth, 3 for Skills, 2 for Talents and 2 for Actions). Where would you suppress these 2 points?

REMOVE:  both talents (0 talents)

 

3.13) Wardancer

CORRECT:  Replace with whirling death

 

3.14) Waywatcher

The waywatcher seem to have exchanged Intelligence and Willpower.

REPAIR:  intelligence and willpower

 

 

One last thing:  I think the pets section tricks capability should be equal to that for a small but vicious dog.

Another thing:  The completions for the pre-generated characters were added to RPGGeek until the Liber Fanatica site rebuild occurs.  You could have a more complete issue by putting these in as well:  http://rpggeek.com/r...nter-new-perils

Thanks a lot for you answer!

Still a mistake for the Envoy. He only has 3 creation points in skills (+2 free racial skills) so only 1 specialisation. I would remove Etiquette you just added..

I didn't understand your last part about the Pet tricks. Can you explain it a bit more?

For the other careers, in France, we are sadly still waiting for the translation of Winds of Magic so, we will probably not translate those extra pre-generated characters, however interesting they are :)

When you do the pets article, just make sure that the rules are the equivalent of the small but vicious dog.
