Hey everyone.

There is this guy at our group....he's started to run this list that is currently 5-0 in our local meta and it is the following:

Krassis + Heavy Laser Cannon + Gunner
Soontir Fel + Push the Limit + Stealth Device

Dark Curse + Stealth Device.

It is the most annoying list on the planet from what I have seen. Dark Curses' ability combined with the fact he is rolling 4 defense dice and taking an evade most rounds means he never gets hit.

Same with Soontir, a Focus, Focus, Evade token pool means he always has a Focus and Evade for defense on a 4 dice defence pool.

Krassis is there as a distraction and a major annoyance. You can hit him yes, but he is tanky and you end up getting your rear end handed to you by Flanking Fel and Curse.

What do you fine gentlemen propose as an effective counter?

Outer Rim Smuggler, Intelligence Agent, Navigator, Anti pursuit lasers.

Soontir can't take an action if he runs into someone.

Fill the rest of the list with B-Wings with HLC's.

any effect that forces additional stress onto Soontir will have him sitting dead in the water after PTL. R3-A2, flachette torps and tactician are good.

and of course as stated above Blocking does wonders against interceptors (if you can block them of course, sometimes its a little tricky :) )

Rebel Freedom Fighters: 5 Z95, 4 X-Wing, 4 B-Wing, 1 Y-Wing, 2 A-Wing, 1 E-Wing, 1 HWK 290, 1 YT-1300 & 1 YT-2400

Imperial Oppressors: 5 TIE Fighter, 4 TIE Bomber, 4 TIE Interceptor, 1 TIE Phantom, 1 TIE Defender, 2 Firespray, 1 Shuttle & 1 VT-49 Decimator

Also Flechette torpedoes would also help since you could double stress Soontir and then attempt to engage him properly the following turn.

Although there is the chance that he gets taken out before he can shoot Blount is an instant "solution" to dealing with Stealth Devices.  While the Assault missile is often the "go to" for the Autohit using the Ion Pulse automatically puts damage on one of those ships and two Ion tokens; if you do this to Fel that means he'll be stuck with his stress next round which will really hinder him, hitting Krassis means you'll know where that ship will be so you could avoid it or deal with it and pretty much the same thing with Dark Curse.

You should be able to beat that firepower fairly easily. Krassis looks pretty scary with his 4 dice twice and rerolls. Ouch. But he has a Tie and a limited 3 dice attack besides that. Bring more firepower to bear against Krassis. He's not the distraction, he's the rock. Dark Curse is the distraction. Soontir Fel is Soontir Fel.

Gunner is (for reasons discussed at greater length in Crabbok's thread on Gunner, further up the front page at the moment) very unlikely to trigger on Krassis--and it triggers a primary attack, where his reroll doesn't apply. Meanwhile, Dark Curse is already the lowest-priority target in the list, so his Stealth Device is practically wasted points.

The good news is that means the OP's opponent is basically giving away 8 points.

There are a few obvious counters to Fel, but none as cheap and effective as Lieutenant Blount + Deadeye + Ion Pulse Missile. If he uses PTL while he's in Blount's arc, he's dead. Because Blount is likely to be an early casualty otherwise, I'd also use Biggs.

Wedge is always a nice pairing with Biggs, and he's at least a soft counter to Firesprays, so let's toss him in, too. That leaves 25 points, and while I'd like to shoehorn an HLC of your own into the list, I think I'd round things out with either Roark + Ion Cannon or, if you have him, Tarn Mison + R7.

The whole list looks like this:

Lieutenant Blount (17)
Deadeye (1)
Ion Pulse Missiles (3)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

Wedge Antilles (29)

Roark Garnet (19)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Total: 99

Happy hunting!

Just be glad he isn't run in recon specialist on Krassis, he is even tougher then. I would counter it with some sort of YT-list that can take away Soontir's ability to arc dodge. Han should be pretty effective against Dark curse especially if you add gunner. Wedge can also make them easier to hit but he always dies very fast unless you run Biggs. Outmaneuver could also be a good option.

Well guys. I ran against this and I used the following:

The Curse Counter

Corran Horn (35)

R2-F2 (3)

Fire-Control System (2)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Wes Janson (29)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Lt Blount (17)

Ion Pulse Missiles (3)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Total: 100.

Luckily the pilot accidentally landed Soontir and Krassis on an asteroid the first round of Combat, attacks from all 3 later (and a 2nd from corran) and Fel was out of the game. Retreated...blount died..that's okay. He did his initial job of stripping at least one stealth device off. Krassis eventually got taken down (not once firing his HLC) and then it was just mop up for Wes and Corran on Dark Curse. It took a few rolls, but once one hit got through and the stealth device was gone, it was all over.
