Okay so i don't have that many games under my belt, at this point i more collect them. And at the same time hate the fact that i dont have many friends. But a game store just opened up right down the street from me and i was thinking about trying to get people into it. So my question is i keep seeing alot about the HWK, what kinda roles does this this ship fill.

It's a support ship. All pilots (excpet the rebel operative) excel at enhancing their squad mates. Other ships need to do the heavy lifting while the HWK does its thing (depending on the pilot you use).

Either a support ship or a cheap ion platform, typically. As a support ship it can pass out support tokens, absorb stress, or bump other ships pilot skill.

The HWK is a support platform, only seen with a turret. Never fly it without one, or else it has no offensive power. The three uniques all have really powerful abilities, and the generic is the cheapest ion cannon turret platform in the game

It's a support ship, primarily. It's decent in a dogfight and excels in epic play. It's under appreciated by many players and tends to linger around on the board longer as a result. The Blaster Turrent has many who question it's effectiveness, but I've used it many times to great results.

Roark is great for boosting one ship to PS12 to guarantee first shot in the combat phase.
Kyle is great for storing and tossing around focus tokens when using the Moldy Crow title (and he works surprisingly well with Garven)
Jan is fantastic for being able to boost one shot per round with that extra attack die - can be deadly when used on someone else attacking with primary guns at Range 1, or with a base 4-die secondary attack weapon

I'm quite fond of using them, and own two, and I find that they've often helped turn the tide of a battle for me. But it's a ship that has a bit of a learning curve to use it correctly and effectively.

I just opened and unpacked the last of my Z95s last night (and resorted my storage to accomodate all the new ships too...)

You may want to look into Vassal then, and play online. Do a search on here for tips on loading it and VassalEngine.org for all the files. Good luck!

Go open your toys right now.

And go to that game store down the street and find out what kind of gaming space they have. Talk to the manager and find out if anyone else has been talking to them about X-Wing or showing up to play. Find out if they have an open-play night or something like that. Show up.

If you can't find any X-Wingers at the shop, get on Meetup and Yahoo Groups and search for gaming clubs in your area. Even if they're not playing X-Wing, show up to those game gatherings with all your X-Wing stuff in tow and demo the game for strangers. I can almost guarantee you that you will find people who want to try this game.

Good luck and happy gaming!

Where are you? Someone on here might be close by, could get you some games and make some new friends.
I didn't mean for it to get this bad.
